I just found out that I'm a triple neg today, I've been diagnosed since november but my doctor's couldn't figure out what I have. I was diagnosed at 25, no family history either. I didn't have the courage to ask my oncologist sooner because I didn't want to scare myself even more and be moping around the house. I'm getting taxol for my next 12 treatments, I don't understand why doctor's don't give other tri negs the same?

We the Triple Negs sure get hit in a vast age range.
SARA FOXYROXY. When I saw your age i couldn't believe you have to deal with this at your age. I wish you every inch of the best of the best treatment and great friends to stand by you. You are just way to young to have to deal with this stuff.
Sending Blessings to All.
XOXO. Sahalie

Thanks for the encouraging and kind words. I know having this disease sucks, but we'll all get through this somehow.

DX at 51. No family history, however I had been previously DX with LCIS tens yrs. earlier and was was being screened twice yearly. I ended up getting DCIS 4cm on my left breast, and IDC TN on my right breast at the same time! I had bi-lat mast. followed by 12 weekly taxol, and will be starting FEC chemo for three more months this Friday. Needless to say, I did not expect TN at my age either!

I was 42 young. I've tried to keep up on any new news about TN. Knowledge is power. It just seems to me that most of the Dr's do not know much about TN. At my 2 yr I decided to get a second opinion from a Dr. Sara Hurvitz (UCLA) who had done research on TN. I was so happy I did. She has been the one and only who has encouraged me that I have a very good chance of beating this. Everyone else says I'm a miracle, fluke etc but lets me know I will never be considered cancer free.
The Oprah Magazine,October 2007 Vol.8 Number 10 gave me some hope as well.
"Striking the young and spreading rapidly, this type of virulent breast cancer was hardly a blip on the radar of oncology research until about five years ago, when groundbreaking studies by Olopade and others brought it to the attention of the medical community". Pg.220
In the meantime, Olopade wants women to know that a diagnosis of triple negative cancer is"not a death sentence."........"Researchers are racing to find out. The answers, they say, could be here in another five years."Pg.222
I realize TN is not just for the young. I just thought for you who are interested this may help.
