Has anyone who just had ALH get their insurance to cover BPM?

I bet most would if the patient tested positive for a deleterious BRCA1 and/or 2 mutation.

http://www.facingourrisk.org says in their experience, almost everyone eventually gets insurance coverage if they have a known deleterious BRCA mutation. That's because the vast majority (up to 85 or 90%) of women with deleterious BRCA mutations get bc.  Its cheaper to pay for BPMs than pay for invasive treatment.

If the patient does not fall into that category, or proof they are at very high risk, then its probably much tougher.   Some of the very high risk categories I'm thinking of are things like radiation treatment  for Hogkin's disease, or massive radiation exposure (such as an atomic bomb).

I have LCIS and ALH, and my BS won't consider doing BPMs on me. (I have a weak family history.) So I can't get to the point of asking my insurance.
