Oh, that story of the woman with 23+ nodes just put shivers down my spine. (good ones!)

    Thanks for that!

There is another book that has been recommended to me (I have just ordered it too) called The Courage Muscle by Monique Doyle Spencer, good apparently if you have kids.  It is supposed to be funny, if you can believe it!

Ladies thank you SO MUCH for all your posts!

Helena, we have a very similar dx.  My oncologist is very straight talking and is very keen sending me for scans when I have a slight issue with something, I reckon if I sneezed infront of him he'd send me for a sneezing scan!  But he has always talked very positively, and when we talk about the future he's always saying stuff like your periods might stop when your in your early 40's (dx at 29) that's like 10+ years away!!!!.

I remember sitting in his office (nearly 2 years ago)  when he was reading through my pathology report and he mentioned the word prognosis, I replied immediately 'I don't want to talk about that'  he then replied by saying 'We are looking at cure'  To this day I have to ask my husband if he really said that as I thought I was dreaming.

I hold onto those words which have seen me through the most horrible of days... and I know how unpredicatble this thing is, but heck sometimes I need a reality check...as far as I know I'm healthy today and today is all that really matters.

If you want more real and believable, read Linda's and Julie's posts in the "I made it to 4 years" thread.  Lots of good news there!

anyone else here in the clinical trial with Avastin?  I'm done with 'traditional treatment' and now 4 more Avastin infusions to go...my onc said its a risk benefit for me!  I'm sure praying it is!!!  My onc never told me my stage, I asked her about 3 months into chemo...and she said don't let your stage define you...she said you are stage 3 (i never got my path report, too scared to look at it), but they changed the stats for staging...used to be considered stage 2, I said "ok I like the sound of that better"...haha  The surgeon was surprised at how my ILC had spread and by the nodes too...yeah me too!  Great news to hear from you girls that have a few years tucked under your belt!  I LOVE IT!!

Just wanted to say thank you again for the positive stories. Greatly appreciated and I hope some day to return the favor by telling my own success story to newbies.

Kari, I couldn't get Avastin when I was diagnosed.  It was too new.  Hope it works wonders for you!

    Hello Gitane,

I am new on this board. I am french living in Australia with my husband and children. I have recently been diagnosed like you with pleomorphic lobular cancer. The doctor said it was very agressive and i am very scared. I had a mastectomy on the right breast and all my lymph nodes removed. I am starting chemo tomorow. I am interested to know how you are doing now. I read one of your post dated 2008. I don't know if i am at the right place to ask this question but find it hard to navigate on the site !!!  Hope to hear from you Smile
