"Farrah's Story"

Did anyone watch "Farrah's Story?"  I missed it on television so I went to nbc.com and watched the video today. 

 Honestly, it was extremely moving.  It really touched me.  She was totally honest and unafraid to reveal how she felt and how she looked.  It was so sad, but at the same time, so inspiring.  It showed cancer the way it really is - not the television version that the public believes. 

Her best friend, Alana, and her ex, Ryan were right by her side for the entire journey.  She did refer to it as a journey.  But I was disappointed in her son, Redmond.  By the time he was there, she didn't recognize him.  Wish he could have gotten his act together sooner and helped her through this final part of her life.  It's going to be really hard for Ryan.  It shows just how much he still loves her.

    I agree -- showing it like it really is, not a sanitized hollywood version.  It will be a most fitting tribute to her, and will certainly give the lie to anyone's belief that she was nothing more than a blonde airhead.  A thoughtful, kind, and honest portrayal.  I thought it would be very difficult to watch, but it actually wasn't; in fact, it brought me closer to understanding what my mother (bc) and sister (leukemia) felt and experienced. And, as someone dx'd, I could also identify.

    Interesting her comment about anal cancer not being one that's studied enough.  Not that many years ago, people were saying the same thing about bc, and finally some courageous women "found their voice" and spoke loud and clear about the need for concentrated research..

    Oh, I watched it and cried!!! Very moving, and very realistic IMO.

    I agree...very moving.   Was never a Farah fan but I did go to sleep that night whispering prayers for her and her family.

    People who know nothing about cancer (and there are lots of those) are used to seeing that stupid and false version from television and movies.  Rarely is it accurately portrayed.  But this shows just what a "horror" (that's what Ryan referred to it as, I believe)  it is to endure treatments, especially long-term treatments that people who have mets endure.

     I was never a Farrah fan either, but now I see and respect her in an entirely different light.
