I just finished tamoxifen and will not immediately start on an aromatase inhibitor because it is unclear whether I am pre- or post-menopausal.

Just wondering what to expect as the tamoxifen clears my body.

thanks,

 Jennifer

Expect to feel better!!  I had to discontinue it after 2.5 years due to quality of life issues, joint pain, etc.

I guess you can look up estrogen and see all the things it has to do with your body and figure you will improve on those things.  LOL

    Hi there-

I remember you from the olden days when I was first diagnosed.  Thanks for your reply.  Are you on something else now?

I would imagine it would depend on whether your are COMPLETELY meno-paused after stopping the drugs.  The menopause process takes years to complete for most of us.  I went right from 7 yrs of Tamoxifen to 5 yrs of Megase because of a new diagnosis.  I was 54 when I finally got off everything and have found myself to be a pretty likeable person after all.  I was beginning to wonder.  :)

Hi Jen---I remember you, too, from the "oldbie" days.  I didn't go on anything else.  My onc and I discussed that most recurrances were found in the first 2 years after diagnosis and that I'd passed that window. (Also chose mast to avoid rads and was node neg, so declined chemo since it would only help 3% of women with my lesion of 1.9cm) If anything else comes up, I'll consider it, but I'm 6  years out and doing very well.  Hope you will, too.

some oncs are advising 5 years of AI's after the tomax. is completed.  That is up to you and your onc.
