    No I do not sew. I wish I did!!!

    I have seen a couple of sued leopard but..like I said about $150.00. Even fabric would be fine. The clutch is large and it is a fold over. I will keep my eyes out more.

    I thought I would give you girls a giggle with some of my "leopard" accessories.  The knitting needle case was given to me.  The emboidery scissors are Ginghers and I needlepointed the scissors case a few years ago.  Such a nice home for the snips.

    A certain member of this board, to remain unnamed LOL, has complained about "wardrobe malfunctions" where her pants have split at the seams.  Now, too much pressure is the first thing we think of, right?  Well, take heart.  I suspect that today's low quality standards in garment materials and construction could be at fault.  Not only are fabrics of lower quality, but the threads used are likely second-rate.  Home sewers have been tipped off not to buy cheap thread because they are made of linters and short fragments of cotton rather than the long-staple cotton fibers used in quality threads.  The short fibers are quick to fray and snap.  Voila!  Wardrobe malfunction.

    Ah, the pleasures of off-shore manufacturing.

    That's the first set of Ginghers I've ever seen in a Leopard Print! Cool! You have such domestic skills - needlepoint, knitting, sewing (and designing for the needs of women in low-cut blouses everywhere) -  you are truly awesome!

    I've got my grandmother's pair of snips (from when she was a young wife) that I treasure - but I've been told sharpening them would jeopardize them at this age. Oh well, they work for my modest needs.

    I agree about poor quality.  We lived in Korea for a year and had access to great seamstresses and fabrics.  BUT, we got our families to send us thread from the states because the thread there was such poor quality.

    AHA!  So, I was NOT not seeing things!!!  Thank goodness, I thought I was losing it for sure.

    Now, where the heck did it go while we weren't looking?  The mods must think I'm nuts.  Oh, well.

    Went to B&N today because I went for my yearly checkup and the doctor wasn't in!!!  They said they called me to re-schedule and left a message on my machine.  Then, a few days ago, some woman called and said she had received a message for Tina on her answering machine while she was on vacation and SHE WASN'T TINA!  The damn scheduler never bothered to call me at the right number to inform me that I was re-scheduled.  So, rather than waste the 3/4 hour drive into the city and back, I went shopping.  LOL  Looked at the Lucky style books but ended up buying the one by that Project Runway lady about the 100 things you have to have in your wardrobe or something like that.  Will let you know the score.  I think it's a good night for reading before Ugly Betty comes on.  Rain, and all that.

    Also bought the Bobbi Brown beauty book but that's for another topic.

    Am going now to check out the Louboutin link.  I love his shoes.

    Edited to add:  I just clicked on the louboutinmall link and Internet Explorer wanted to install Chinese on my computer, which I denied.  Why is this?  Fishy.

    I have been using Nivea self tan and must admit it's working pretty amazing! I go to the Dominican on the 23rd and wanted a base tan so I don't burn. At first I could see my swipe marks but once I realized how literal the application was I got better.

    It's just really self stain, isn't it?

    Ah...BUT! Because the skin is darker the pigmentation reaction is different. Haven't you ever wondered why people with darker skin don't burn? I used to have a base all year with the travelling and boating we did. Now I'm a piece of white bread!

    The stain WILL NOT protect your skin from burn!!  Please reread that statement!  Bless you, you are doing good to use tan in a can---then cover it with 30 sunscreen!!

    People with dark skin DO burn!  The melanin amount in your skin determines you natural color and helps you tan and become more tolerant of sun, but, dark skin will burn when not protected.

      There used to be a med one could take 2 hours before sunning.  It helped pale redheads like me actually Produce melanin---which I normally don't do.(just burn and peel)  So, I gradually was able to tan----but still used sunscreen to protect my skin from burns.  the price was about 100 bucks (and worth it), but it was pulled from the market decades ago.

    Thanks guys! I DO have an SPF 60, 50 and 45 going down with me. Silly me to think my fake bake would protect me some....sigh. Oh well, I have started my holiday tan early.

    Tina it is a cute dress. My sister, when making prom or bridal gowns, always cuts the neckline about 1 inch higher than the pattern. She looks at it this way, I can always lower the neckline if they want it lower, but I can't raise it up any after it has been cut. There was a wedding where we made 3 of the 4 bridesmaids gowns and the one we didn't make, the girl was pulling the dress up at the shoulders because she felt that it was too low.

    oooh, Tina - I LOVE that dress, but agree - the neckline is waaayyy too low.

    I need help finding some shoes that I can wear with jeans in the summer that are not high heeled. Love my high heels, but sometimes would like to wear a lower shoe. All the shoes I see of this genre are not cute at all. I do have a pair of patent leather flats with a tiny lifted wedge heel that I wear with capris and city shorts, but need something for jeans and the patent leathers do not look good with the jeans I have. Any suggestions?

    Cute dress! But I can't wear frilly, my shoulders are just too broad and I look like I'm trying to dress younger. Really.

    I'm no good at shoes either Raye, but if I know Beth, she'll be along any second! She probably heard you type the word "shoes".... Laughing

    Wow, those are great prices, Jorf!  Never heard of them but if you say they're good maybe they deserve a try.

    barbe, my shoulders are so narrow, I could wear a BALLOON and still not look puffy.  LOL  My problem is anything oversized makes me look like Little Orphan Annie.

    Raye, you have to describe the kind of look you are after.  There are a million gazillion flats out there.  Regular sole?  Rubber sole?  Sporty?  Dressy as in leopard print?  Gladiator flats? LOL  Come on, girl.

    But if Beth heard me type shoes she also heard me type flats; something our Beth is not quite fond of if I remember correctly.

    OK OK - to be a bit more specific - a sole with some platform to it, but not too matronly. Not gladiator flats, ugh. Ok for high heels, but not a fan of the gladiator flats. I don't know. Not good with flats, I guess.

    Tina - I am with you, narrow shoulders here big time; I wear tight tops, if they are loose I feel frumpy with a capital F.

    I actually need some "flatter" shoes too. I need an open toe wedge type shoe thats black. Shouldn't be hard to find. The heels are starting to be a bit much with all the stairs at work, so wearing them every single day isn't going to cut it anymore.

    Alright ladies, it's that time of year once again!!! I think we need to be reminded of a few things. So my sisters, PLEASE, raise your big toes and repeat after me below...  

    The Open Toed Shoe Pledge
    As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

    I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs.  And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

    I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free.  I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

    I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

    I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

    I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

    If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put.  I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

    I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl's if my feet need him.

    I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes.  This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

    I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.

    I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals.  Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.

    I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

    I will promise to go to my local nail salon at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $25 or $35 and worth EVERY penny).

    I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals..

    I just had to add this "promise," Beth, to your list....PLEASE, can we all promise to keep our feet free of dry, shedding skin? There's nothing that turns my stomach more than severely dry, scaly feet in sandals. Sitting in a meeting or anywhere where you can't escape and staring at feet that are clearly neglected just makes me soooooo nauseous!
