    Here is my latest creations today.  Sahalie, Emily would love to make those little walnut critters, will have to show her next visit.  We have had so much rain, we haven't had to water anything yet and more rain tonight.  We are under tornado watch until 2am which makes it scary to go to bed afraid we will be blown away during the night.  We watched that movie tonight with Brad Pitt, the curious life of Benjamin something.     It was amazing, happy, sad, strange.  loved it.

    Goodmorning or afternoon everyone, I kind of over slept today, guess my body was playing catchup.  Hope everyone has a great day.  No tornaodes got us last night, they do scare me. Wishing a happy weekend for all.  Today we are going to watch the Quantum of Solace thenew James Bond movie.  We use redbox cause we can reserve on line and it is only 1.09 a movie.  loving it.  Can't wait to see some more crafts and do some more crafts.

    Well, I see everyone has been very busy.  Spar, some more lovely work from your hands.  Sahalie, not many walnut trees here either.  I can remember as a kid going to a park with pecan trees where everyone was allowed to collect as many pecans as they wanted.  Those days seem to be gone now.

    Well, I'm off to get some chores done and I need lots more coffee.  I'll be back later.

    Hi,

     I so enjoy reading all your posts. The quilts are gorgeous, the cup cozy is cool, the lil walnuts guys are cute, jewlery pretty and all else is good. I like to do crafts but I just can't find the time. But what do I do with my time...my kids are grown and out of the house. I get upset when I look at all you guys do, and I have a room full of arts and craft stuff..and don't do it often or keep up with it.

    oh, well, for now I will enjoy what you do.

    oh, the christmas ornaments. I have made some in the past that look quilted. Styrofoam ball, cut pieces of holiday fabric into small squares. With a butter knife, push each square into the ball and it give s the quilted look. I will make one (they are easy) and then I can post it.

    Back in the daily routine after a wild and crazy last few days.  How is everyone?

    I got off early so made a Bee line straight for CRAFTS.

    I found this really neat and unusual craft of paper animals cut out old fashioned style and

    thought of our crafters here.

    Specially SPAR who is making the wild animal motif at home. 

    I kind of like this idea for the kids to try on a day when I hear the proverbial "I'm bored."

    Find vintage plates, paperweights, and other home accessories decorated with rare printed

    motifs at flea markets and antiques shops.

    You never know what you'll find to take home and make a treasure out of.

    So save those old cards.  During the holidays use past years cards to make magnets etc.

    Even a paper wind mobile.  No noise but still an interesting concept.

    When we have the urge to get something new, instead of heading out to

    buy something new, we can usually find a way to improve on something

    that is the truth, we can always find a way to improve something we already have and I am loving those paper animals and yes! am going to give it a try.  Oh Sahalie for mothers day I got a picture for my bedroom of a tiger that my grandkids picked out.  am loving it so much.

    Candie, is it because of your hand that you can't do any crafts right now?  I am concerned about you, we need to get you some zest for life and crafts going on.

    Sahalie... I love using ribbon especially at Christmas on the shower curtain rings... really helps decorate the bathrooms.

    Hello everyone!

    I love reading your stories and seeing all the great pictures here! 

    Does anyone have any ideas on what to do with old window weights?  I have several that came out of my parents' old house and would love to do something crafty and creative with them. They are heavy, of cast iron with a very vintage slightly rusty/dirty look, and I think they are charming. My dear darling husband told me "not to make wind chimes out of them"-- I really didn't intend to, because they probably wouldn't sound very pretty and would probably hurt someone!  So, he's afraid I'm going to do something with them, so please give me some ideas, ladies!  Smile

    I don't know what window weights look like but are they something that could be used for book ends or charming door stops.  Maybe something that can be polished and decorate a fireplace?

    Hi again,

    I will try to post a picture when I get to my home computer this evening.  There may be another name for them, but they are the long things that went inside old windows to keep them up or down and they were tethered by a rope.  Does that make sense?  Thanks!

    Actually, if you google old window weights there are a ton of web sites.  They even give you companies that replicate them!

    I swear you can get anything on the web.

    You could put some of the smaller ones in a rustic frame box along with other metal things like old keys or door hinges with maybe one touch of color like a marble or a colored key and hang it on the wall.  I will keep my mind thinking,  You could paint some different bright colors and stick in the ground in a flower bed for adding charactor.  You could paint love, peace, hope, faith, words like that on them and start with the smallest one to the biggest one and hang them on the wall of the house if you have a porch to decorate.  Your right they are rustic and charming. I am sure someone will come along with more ideas in a bit.

    Sahalie, I got a pair of just plain simple white flip flops and am going to do the rag tie bows around them and see how they turn our.  Want to get started on the quilted wall hanging soon. Everyone have a wonderful night.

    Sahalie, my aunt does that with old suitcases and wicker picnic baskets. She even has them stacked up in her house (suitcases in the living room and picnic baskets in her dining room) as part of the decor.

    I use old vintage suitcases for storing summer/winter clothes...but I like the idea for artss and crafts,too.

    Arnie, I LOVE the watermelons!!!!!!! and Sahalie, ditto on the suitcase idea and Spar on the beadwork!!!!  Kmccraw, thanks so much for posting the pic of the window weights-- obviously I haven't gotten around to it yet.  Mine are the shorter ones and I'm still collecting ideas on what to do with them...

    Love that idea too!  I love old door knobs, especially the glass ones.  I just saw an episode of Decorating Cents where they mounted the face plate of an old door knob on the wall to hold the rod and then placed the actual door knob on the end of the curtain rod.  I just love taking old things and finding new uses for them.
