I consider myself a survivor as I had a clean bill of health August 08. However lately I have been suffering from chronic indegestion, nausea and last night my leg ached a little. So I get on line and read about ovarian cancer and scared myself silly because those are some of the symtoms!

I have always had a little bit of indegestion, but now it is daily. I have always had a big stomach since i put on wieght thru menapause so I can't guage that. Honestly everything sets off alarms with me since BC DX anymore. Does anyone else go thru this? Am I being just paranoid?

I have an appt. with my ONC the middle of June for my check up, I thought I could bring it up then, or ?? I am just not sure if I am overeacting. I am so glad I can come here to ask questions to other survivors, my family keeps getting frustrated with me thinking that I am borrowing trouble. That is last thing I want to do, I just want peace of mind!!! Thanks!!!

Jack, I don't know anything about your symptoms, except that you sound pretty worried...do you have a GP you could see, a regular doctor?  You may just have acid reflux, and she might be able to help you with that.  That can be a dietary thing (something doesn't agree with you), or a little flu bug, or something more complex, but you're not a doctor, so how can you know?  And by all means, you should bring up your concerns with your oncologist...that's what they're there for!  But I wouldn't wait...there's likely something you can do to help before seeing the oncologist...Good luck!

Are you taking Tamoxifen or one of the AI's????

I take tamox and after 2 1/2 yrs on it started having heart burn issues.....I just went to my primary care doc last month and she said it is a side effect of these drugs...she put me on prescription strength Prilosec and it did the trick!!!!!

I also notice the fatigue, constipation (she added a stool softener for that), more gas than normal...the legs cramps I took care of by eating more potassium loaded foods....

If you dont want to cry wolf and go to the doctor all these things are in expensive and over the counter so you might make a trip to Walmart....

I cant believe how much better I feel now that I have most that stuff under control......now to get rid of the aches/pains that the tamox is causing.....havent figured that one out yet.

    Best Wishes

    Hi Jack,

When I read your post I just had to laugh because I feel like I coul have written it, although the fear that we feel is truly no laughing matter.  I am nearing the end of my active treatment (I have one more herceptin infusion left to go) and have entered the phase of worrying about recurrence and every little ache, pain, headache, stomach gurgle, burp, etc..  has my mind immediately rushing to the conclusion that cancer has returned.  I even once felt something "funny" over my left clavicle and had the sinking feeling that I had a swollen lymph node.  A few seconds later I realized that it was my port. Embarassed

There seems to be a fine line between being vigilant about monitoring for symptoms of recurrence and becoming someone with "canceritis."  I, unfortunately, am still searching for where that line is.  Someone on this board somewhere had good advice that I read--if you experience a particular issue for two weeks or more, it's a good idea to have it checked out.  Also, many folks on this board avise to keep from freaking out at information on the internet.  Good advise, also...

Take care and God bless.  I certainly understand where you are coming from!

thank you girls for your support and feedback! Yes, I take Arimidex and it does cause achy bones! I will have to check to see if it causes indegestion too, I am hoping (crazy) that it does at least it will explain away some symptoms! I am also going to call my GP and see if he can prescribe something for it.

I do agree that too much info on line can be hazerdous to our health causing us to FREAK out...lol!

    God bless you all!!

    Jackie
