Oh, you're scaring me.  I have not yet spoken to the allbrands people.  Will do before buying, of course, if I decide to go that route.

lexi- the christian loub. zebra heels are to DIE FOR.... I have a great shoe that looks kind of like that- made by Steve Madden... you can find them at DSW or zappos.

2boobs-- I would buy a shirt that fits your breasts, and have it tailored. I always try to explain to my skinny friends that don't have cancer and want breast augs that its very hard to shop for shirts with such a large bust...(I was big pre and post cancer, so I know...) and its so important to have the right fit through the bust.

I know you'll need them taken in a lot to fir your tiny size, but a good tailor can really work magic.

Tina- while you're working on Dickie magic for me, I found some great Bare Asset body shaping tank tops that look great under the tops I wear to work, and don't allow my cleavage to spill out all over the place.

It looks like I've got two pages of back reading to do- and work is crazy busy but I will try to get caught up later.

Lexi I love the Maxi dress!!!!

abbadoodles - Thanks!  I'll try some of your tricks and I do have a Chico's near me.  I never knew it would be so hard to find a top!!

But sewing...no way!  I don't even know how to use a sewing machine.

2NewBoobs - you can also order small sizes at Ann  Taylor. Express has small sizes as well. Your name alone makes me want to have reconstruction.

Lexi - I love that pair of shoes from Nieman Marcus. Love them! Can't afford them!

Kathi - well, you had something to celebrate and celebrate you did. Love the dress.

Well, I finally found a bag!!! At Target for $14.98. Big and roomy. Here it is.

    GRRRR - It won't post.

BethNY - I may have to have things tailored.  I guess I keep hoping I'll find a store that will magically have tops that fit!  You know, all I wanted was a size B...I think my PS is one of those that think everyone wants to be big!  Oh well!

Raye99 - Thanks.  I'll look online and I do have an Express near me that I'll check out.

2new, how long ago did you have your recon?  It may be that your 2newOnes will decrease in size once the swelling goes down.  After my MS free TRAM, that side was HUGE next the the real one, but it did go down to actually being smaller than the natural boob.  Maybe you just have to wait a bit.  Like a few months.

Raye, nice bag!  Score!  I'll have to scope Target tomorrow when I go into town.  Also haven't been to TJ's in a while.  Something nice to look forward to.

Someone just told me to practice my serger technique on making panties from old T-shirts!  Hey, I never thought of that.  Free panties to make up for that $20 thong I cannot wear. LOL

abbadoodles - my exchange was Sept. 30 so the swelling has already gone down.  It just won't be as easy to find tops anymore (I used to be an A), but I'm determined.  Thanks!

    Raye - nice looking bag!

Ladies, show me your hats for Derby Day!

I just figured out Derby Day is for the Kentucky Derby.  Has it been held yet?

The hat looks fit for the Queen of England.  LOL

Update on the coverstitch machine:  I decided to buy a new sewing machine instead, one with several stretch stitches which mimic a coverstitch.  I decided they would do the job I needed them to do and I get a new SM in the bargain.  Lots of decorative stitches.  Wowie!  I am psyched.  Now all I have to do is go out and find gorgeous threads.

OOOH, Abby! What kind did you buy! So exciting discovering all the stitches isn't it? I bought a new one 2 years ago and am bummed that it doesn't do numbers! I checked to make sure it did letters as I date all my wall art. Didn't notice it can't do the "year". You'd think I would have known better as I used to sell them. It was between two and now I wish I'd gotten the other one! Cry

A Viking Sapphire 830.  It does do numbers but I hadn't even given that a thought.  I wanted mostly crazy quilt and heirloom stitches.  http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/US/8681_8690.htm

Kathi...Do you really own that hat? I love it! I have never been into hats, although everytime I wear one, I get compliments. Anyway, yes Tina, the Kentucky Derby was on Saturday and you should have seen the totally gorgeous hats! Millions of them (well, thousands) throughout the crowd! And everyone holding their mint juleps....very cool. If Mine That Bird hadn't achieved such an upset by winning, the hats would have been the highlight for me! But how Rocky Balboa was the outcome? Sweeeeeet!

I finally ordered a Patagonia bikini for wakeboarding this summer, but instead of a string bottom, I'm getting a scoop. Very cute, but I'll need to drop a few pounds and tone up the tush over the next few weeks. Do you know hard it is to get up on a wakeboard? Not a good time to trust your bikini bottom Surprised!

Now I'm off to look for sandals. I need flip-flops and sandals to wear with jeans and casual shorts, etc. Since P. is 5'11" and I'm 5'7" and I don't feel cute when I tower over him, I want to look for lower heels than I used to wear. Maybe Zappos..... Undecided. Where are you all buying your casual shoes/sandals these days?

I got a couple of cute Sketcher sandals this year, but they have wedge height. I can't believe the comfort and wonder why I never knew about them before!

I KNOW I couldn't pull myself up on a wakeboard! It must be exhausting.

I know there was some talk about the athletica catalogue, right?? Does anyone shop from them? I see that they have a huge array of sizes, and I need a ton of swimsuit, and water wear for my trip to Vail this summer. I've earmarked a million pages in the catalogue, and before I spend a fortune I wanted to know if others like the quality of the merchandise.

Hi, Marin!  yes, I really own that hat!  LOL  I put it together one Halloween to dress as a character from the Titanic.  I was one of the folks who drowned.  I had blue-white make-up on my face & lips and frozen seaweek hanging off me.  But I was dressed really well, long gloves, jewels & everything!!

God bless you to be thinking about wearing a bikini!  I've got to pry off some poundage before wearing any bathing suit, but I wasstill actually able to wear a tankini 5 years ago, so...

Beth, I've bought things from athleta and was happy.  I love their stuff.

Went to Target yesterday and scooped up a bunch of summer things:  3 racer-back tanks in cotton/modal stretch blend, a great dressy tank with little pleats in the front, a WONDERFUL cotton/modal cardigan in cherry pink but it is so cute,  3/4 sleeves, scoop neck, only two big buttons then flyaway front, etc.  It will be perfect thrown over a tank or cami in the spring and summer.  Also, a grey cotton knit sporty skirt.  I think that's all.  For under $60!!!

Of course, the tanks are so low in the front that I can use my serger to take up the strap seams.  I don't know who can wear them as is because I have a long torso and they are almost under my nipples as is.  They are also so long that I will have to shorten them but I have that NEW MACHINE that can do that in a flash.  Lucky me!

I may go back for more.

PS  Marin, I'm so glad you saw the light about what suits to wear for wakeboarding.  Oh, I would have felt your pain.............

Yes! Athleta - love it. That new catalog is simply great - there are so many things I want as well. I love the pink board shorts with the white flowers on them. Might have to splurge.

Marin - I always wear scoop bottoms when in the water and love them. The Title 9 stay on the best, although I like the look of the VS scoop bottoms better (more flattering). Concerning cute flats, sandles, etc., I've been shopping at DSW and Famous Footwear.

K loves, I cannot talk/type long. Totally slammed at work.

    Talk to you all soon!

Sorry to be so stupid but what's a "scoop" bottom?

  • BethNY
    BethNY Member Posts: 2,710

Scoops differ from one brand to another- but it's a mid rise bottom... decent coverage on the arse, but not waist high like a granny panty. They are flattering and sexy.

Tina- the longer tanks, and tee's are popular for layering...And now that leggings are still a trend (not for me, too many 80's flashbacks) the longer tanks look good when paired with them.

I plan on hitting target tomorrow and doing some damage. Day off, Doctor in the morning, shopping in the afternoon.

I wish there was a Target in Canada Cry !!!!

Still waiting for our dollar to be worth a bit more, then I will hit Seattle. I have to go to Victoria Secrets and find a Target.

The layering tank top and long shirts is all I do. So easy...and you can find real cheap long tee's like 2 for $20 or sometimes 3 for $20. Always get a white tank & t shirt, they are so versitile!

I went to Winners the other day and scored a Paruschio Jean jacket for $30.00!!! It was a large, which I need, and it was marked down 3X! Regular price $120.00! I couldn't believe noone picked it up. Lighter jean color with copper buttons and of course the red Paruschio logo on the right side of the jacket. That means it was waiting for me..lol

BTW...I am getting my income tax refund, I finally get $$$ back this year, and I want to splurge...lol. I need a clutch purse. I have one that is black leather with silver python. But I need a different style. I will post some that I'm interested in and you ladies let me know which you like better. BBL

Lexi, what is Paruschio?  I'm fashion-challenged, I guess.  Embarassed

Now, you have fun with that income tax refund and do your part to keep the economy going!!!  It's your civic duty, is what I say. LOL

Target has some great styles but their fabrics are basically one-season wearable.  Meaning not so substantial.  But, that is fine for certain items.  Have you noticed that fabrics in general have gone south in quality in recent years?  So many are really terrible and quality construction has pretty much gone out the window.

I love the look of layered tanks/shirts but when you have a small top, small waist and big bottom as I do it is not a workable thing.  Everything I pull down over my hips works its way UP in short order.  Grrrrrr.

Still have not found the perfect shoes for that red/white dress.  Keep your eyes out, ladies, for a platform sandal, high wedge, probably espadrille/jute sole, in white or even a quiet red, no T- or ankle straps, please.  Enough conditions????  Nothing is easy.

Paruschio is an Italian brand that does jeans ect.

Yes..I have noticed that cotton quality is gone ot the window. I'll buy a cotton shirt and then it will stretch out huge at the bottom kinda like a bell. I don't put stuff in the dryer to try to avoid this but still.......I have clothes hanging all over my house! Especially T's. But now that the weather is changing, I hang out side.

I'll keep an eye out for shoes while I'm web searching!!! Still looking for my clutch....to be continued.

Oh, you didn't get the white wedges at Zappo's? I thought the were perfect! You can try them on in two sizes in necessary because return shipping is free also.

I saw some red ones I liked at www.endless.com but they had a thin strap I think. How do you keep a high wedge on without a strap?

Ok..here is one clutch that I am interested in. It is waaaaaay to much $$$. I would not pay that kind of money for a clutch. BUT... you can get replicas for about $150-200. The replicas are exact!

By replica, do you mean FAKE??? Thats one thing I won't do. I'd rather carry a $20 nameless bag from Target then rip off a high end designer and carry a copy...It's like stealing music and movies from the internet... it's just not right. (JMO)

Tina you have to find shoes for that dress-- it is way too cute to sit in your closet all summer.

I see that Fortunoff's is going out of business, and everything is 60% off. If I had a free minute to breathe I think I would run over there and see if there are any steals and deals. I did score some new undies, PJ's, a bra and a tank top at Target the other day. I know, nothing exciting. But neither is my life these days.

No..No...not fake. But a replica ( same sort of design) no name.I like the style of that clutch. Looking for something similar. No fake Jimmy Choo label..lol

I like the first ones, the Aldos, and I think I've seen them elsewhere but I was afraid I'd fall out of them and break my ankle or something.  Maybe I should try them on.

I think the ones at Zappos were out of stock in my size.  I'll have to check back with them.

That Jimmy Choo bag is wonderful.  Why not whip one up, albeit not in leather, yourself?  You can buy leopard print upholstery fabric.  Do you sew?

I think I feel a shopping trip coming on.  Yahooooooooooo!
