Recurrence in lymph node?
Has anyone here had a recurrence in a lymph node? My doc found a lump this week in my armpit, very close to my mastectomy scar. She sent me for an ultrasound. The radiologist says it looks like a lymph node that needs to be biopsied. I'm having a core biopsy on Tues. and having the typical anxiety about it. I know there's a chance it won't be anything to worry about, but I'm thinking they already found cancer in 6 of my lymph nodes a year-and-a-half ago, so if this is a node, then chances are it's got cancer in it. I've read up a bit and know that I'd be looking at surgery again, and probably even chemo and/or rads again. Anyone been through this who can tell me anything else?
Thanks,
Angela

My doc found a lump in my armpit ... however, it was on the other side from where I had my first dx. The node turned out to be malignant and there was a brand new primary cancer in my other breast. However, often nodes can become inflamed for a variety of reasons.... it may turn out to be B9 for you. Here's wishing!!!!

Hi
I am just goin gthrough this same scenario. I had a modified radical mastectomy June 2008, did chem to Nov, then radiation Dec/Jan followed by oopherectomy, herceptin and femara. In May 2009 I had my annual mammogram and nothing showed but I had anultrasound in August and 3 weeks later my onc called to say they see what they believe is an enlarged lymph node, same side, that was 2 weeks ago and now I'm wiating for a date for the biopsy. The onc said not to worry it will be nothing but they told me that last year too. I try not to think about it but I wish they would hurry up and call with a date for the biopsy and get this thing over with. I just thought I was starting not to think about cancer every day and now it's back to the forefront again.
Angela, how did things go for you? Please let me know.
