Almost 5 yrs out and still amazed by Dr.'s

I havent been posting much anymore, but I thought I'd stop in, say hello, and mention how blasted obnoxious some Dr.'s can be. Im am 4yrs and 8 months from diagnose(with 5 coming up fast . My original diagnosis was triple neg metaplastic breast cancer(and for those who dont know, this adds a further level of aggressiveness). Aside from the long term side effect from chemo that Im still dealing with, ie jawbone infection as far as the BC is concerned, knock on wood, Im doing great!

Dh on the other hand just got diagnosed with prostate cancer. His current urologist(note I said current), was treating him for kidney stones when we insisted on a biopsy because his PSA was up, and he was getting blood in his urine. Dr. was "convinced" that the stone was responsible. So fast forward to the Dr.'s office and the path report. We wait almost 3 hrs to get in(this is in Canada and after cooling our heels, he wasnt even going to mention the path report...only wanted to tell us about the stone. We finally ask him about the path, and he says, oh it showed a "small amount of cancer but we're just going to watch it" Now of course having been down this road I've already done my research and that is 1 of many option my dh could have, because it is early stage, but note, its DH's option not his Dr.'s. We want to talk about other options. There were also 2 small lesions on the kidney which in the CT report the radiologist suggests follow up MRI or ultrasound to clarify what they think is benign. Dh's mother had severe kidney disese many moons ago so we want to be cautious. What follows is the conversation :

Dr. -Ok we're going to schedule you for laser of the stone

DH- What about the kidney lesions, how do we find out about those

Dr-Well I could cut out your kidneys and put them on a table

Dh- well Id prefer something a tad less drastic, didnt the radiologist suggest MRI

Dr- oh they always want to do scan after scan , it isnt needed

me- well what about the cancer

Dr- as I said ,we'll keep an eye on it

me- well , I think we want to discuss other options, understand where Im coming from when I had BC, my then GP didnt want to order a mammo because" I was too young to have BC(and the age of 44 ), and he was "sure" it was a caffeine cyst. If I had listened to him I'd be dead now !

Response from Dr...and I hope you're sitting for this one : " Well then at least I wouldn't have to answer all these questions"!!!!!!!

Dh and I were rendered speechless. He spent a grand total of 6 minutes with us and that was the finale. Needless to say we have an app't elsewhere . We still have to use him for the stone procedure otherwise it will be a significant delay. I just hope I can control myself when I see him now that the shock has worn off. I just have to remind myself that it's in dh's best interest to bite my tongue I suppose.....dh wanted to tell him to---- --- but I talked him out of it so far. Hopefully we get through the stone surgery without any other comments.
