HOT DAMN!!!

BUMP for more TN ladies......
-
That seems very cool. Now, for my lack of concentrational skills, can someone tell me in laymen terms what they were saying about p53 (now that that term holds new importance to me!
-
Me too. I read it but I didn't understand everything they were saying. Are they clinical trials we can be in?
-
Tigris Phar. plans "Phase II clinical studies, including studies in triple-negative breast cancer patients with the drug alone or in combination with vorinostat". Vorinostat (Zolinza, from Merck, already approved for some forms of lymphoma) makes the cancer cell extremely sensitive to the AFP-464 - the experimental therapy.
What this means is a possible targeted therapy for trip negs just as Herceptin was a breakthrough for Her2 cancers. This research is the first I've heard of going into Phase II specifically targeted to trip negs. This could conceivably be just as active in 1st line therapy as in the metastatic setting.
Deb ~ All this means to p53 cells is the location of cell death - the DNA.

Thanks Lisa cuz I almost went cross-eyed reading that website!!
-
thanks for that explanation. Looks like some promising results! We need more studies now, I'm guessing, to back it up and we are looking at some wonderful conclusions!
I must say..I was diagnosed over 3 years ago and they were still wondering what the heck triple neg was. This is huge!
-
Oh, yes, a ray of hope!! Thanks for the post!
-
Bump
-
Double bump and double yippee! Here's hoping. Thanks for the post!

The good thing is that they seem to think they can tweak it to work with either Basal A or Basal B subtypes of triple negative. Do we all fall into one of the two categories? Are some of us not Basal?
Sisters, if you still have your tumor, make sure they keep a large sample...identified as your own sample...not just for generic study. I don't think there is enough of mine to do one decent pathological test. Also, it needs to be a sample prior to chemo...chemo can alter it.
This is wonderful news. I think we are the hot study topic. Or maybe we're just plain hot.

Hey ladies...
How does one know if they have basal....I have read and re-read pathology and I dont see anywhere that is states BASAL......just curious.....
May God Bless Us ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
