Monoclonal Antibody IMC-A12 and Temsirolimus

I am so sorry I have not kept all of you updated on the Clinical Trial Cam is on.  It is interesting, it has required a change of many things, including our address and email address.  But all of that is far less important than the fact that the stuff is working.  Cam has had very good response with out the SE's that was keeping her so down.  She has completed the first cycle and has started the second.  She has had five weekly infusions and sees improvement with the skin mets and rash as well as the edema of breast tissue.  Cam will have another PET/CT in three weeks and will meet with the Phase One Dr and Dr C then.  Since Cam had about run the course of nine different chemo's, it is good to have found something else that stopped and hopefully reversed the progression.  For Cam, and for all of you, I hope this becomes another option in the IBC battle.

My insurance does not cover any trials, but this trial is a NCI trial so the drugs are paid for by the drug companies, and the PETs, CTs, BXs and Labs are all paid for by NCI grant.  My Insurance hopefully will pay for standard of care items.  This is a small trial of about 40 people. It is not specific to Breast Cancer, in fact, I believe Cam is the only Breast Cancer Patient in it at this time.  Mayo is doing the same trial for breast cancer only.

It does not matter where you have had initial treatment.  Trials are open to any that qualify.  The only thing to remember, is only 8% of people benefit from phase I trials, so do you homework well in choosing one.

Like you said, God love ya!

So glad for Cam continued response.  But a note on Mayo version of this trial...You can have only failed "two" previous chemo protocols...and their trial was closed when I last checked.  It is due to reopen again but they were not sure when.  I do have some contact info on this. They are only doing it at their main clinic.
