    Has anyone read anything by Dean Miller.  He wrote a book called Blue Like Jazz and it brought my son back to God.  I know the clerk at Family Bookstore that refered it to me said it helped her brother when he had lost his way too.  DS said that after reading it he felt "really bad" but had "never realized that all this time, God had been chasing him; that he didn't have to be seeking God".  He's now been attending a church where he is at school, changed some of his behaviors and seems so much happier in general.  Praise the Lord!!!!!

    The reason I even brought up this book is because the clerk mentioned that some Christian bookstores wouldn't carry this book because they really couldn't figure out if it belonged there or not.  My feeling is that it definately does!  Both the Missions pastor and the Director of Music were familiar with the book and highly recommend it.  I hope to read it this summer if he can figure out where he put it.  He moved out quite a bit of his stuff and brought it home since he sublet his room for the summer.  He thinks it is in one of the many bags that are now sitting in the living and family rooms.  We'll see.

    Deb, I pray your chemo will go well.  My prayers will be with you.  I feel almost that I got away with only the mastectomies.  I watched my mom go thru chemo and rads.  I admire you all so much.

    that will be so much fun.  I know you must be busy packing and getting ready and finishing up your redecorations.  We will be leaving Jun 1 for 2 to 3 weeks.  Am very excited.  Will be visiting the library to load up on books to take just in case.  Not taking any craft work though unless it is some knitting.

    Sahalie, I need some of your magical words here.Everything you write is like poetry.  Have missed you today.

    We found some old old prayer devotional books today like from the 60's.  Besides the one I am reading everyday, I am going to be checking out the golden oldies also.

    Everything is good today, I think it is the first time in my life my blood work was ALL normal, the new diabetic meds is working and i also have changed my died a lot. We have been having a lot of baby spinich leaf salads with tomatoes, cucumber, and dried cranberrys. So just eating healther in all areas and started taking a vitamen also.  It paid off.  Jazzygirl, no more anemic!!

    spar2 if you like the baby spinach, try spinach leaves, mandarin oranges, walnuts and dried cranberries  topped with balsamic vinagerette dressing...very tasty

    Deb, that sounds wonderful, I know I would love it.  Will try it next.  I gotta go buy groceries tomorrow so I will get some.  Man, I hate to go to the grocery store.

    Cut up grapes are also very tastey in salads,  possibilities are endless!There are salad dressing sprays available- don't remember brands...I know one is a raspberry vinagerette...really good and because its a spray it helps control how much is added. Just a little is really great!

    oh...I did not realize the spays have soy (yicks I am also trying to avoid). I will make my own since I generally prefer no dressing but every now and then like a change. Yes- love the sun dried tomatoes esp when its not tomato season ( I am trying to eat in season....produce is better and easier to find USA grown). Just found a brand I really like--will have to go find the name...not so dried that its like eating cardboard!.

    I try to remember EVERYTHING, and my dh is worse trying to bring EVERYTHING anyone might possibly, think of needing. Recently I have been taking the approach that as long as I have medicines and eyeglasses (in some places the cell phone and charger)....anything else we can get there or do with out! Has made my trip planning/prep much less stressful Cool.  Enjoy the quiet and peace, time w/dd and sil. Renewing body and soul.

    Spar, I'm so happy to hear your good results!  Something to shout about. 

    I have finally finished the Babylon Rising series and will get them out to you sometime this week hopefully.  This series is not as good as the Left Behind but it was still interesting.  Kind of a clunky ending.  I think Tim Lahaye really needed Jenkins to help with this series.

    I've fallen down on the exercising so I'm going to try to get back to the gym the rest of the week.  I will say that it is hard to stay motivated to keep doing it.  More so the older I get.

    thanks Jaz, yep and when I got in the car I really shouted! I have fallen off the exercise horse years ago and I have no excuse now since I have a whole room that is for exercise, I go in there to dust once in a while.  got to get my mind in the groove.

    Man, I was determined to get my monthly grocery bill down by getting generics and going to different stores for sales and I did it today and saved over $100 on what I usually spend but I swear it took me all day.  Not much gas involved since some of the stores was walking distance from each other.  My DH was proud but he told me no more generic cheese or sour cream.  I can live with that.

    Hey, JO, this can be books, cooking, or anything we want it to be.  It is a blessed site. LOL

    I get the vegetarian magazine because in the summer with the garden we do a lot more vege dishes and some of them are really good.

    Went to the library yesterday and none of the authors we spoke about on here were there.  It is such a small library and such a disappointment after living in the big city and having a huge library.  I am not kidding, they are not even computerized here, you still hand check out books and put on a card like in the old days when I was a child.  I really can't afford to buy all the books and if you live out of town Norman won't let me use their library anymore unless I read the book there.

    I get most of my books from our church library.  Do you have a large church near you?  You usually don't have to be a member to use the library.  You can also get books on half.com for a steal.

    Deb, I can ask around but everything is small in this town.  the biggest thing we have is a walmart supercenter opened last year.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Also will check out half.com.

    Okay I need to vent and not sure exactly where to post this.  Before I say anything further, plese know that I am not judging anyone, I just have a pet peeve.  I'm posting here because this is Christian Women post.  There is a member on  here that I have already put on ignore because of her language.  She posted something today that I came across and even though I did not unblock her to read the original post, the responses she got were horrible.  Not horrible to her, but the language was horrible.  All these post were full of the "F" word and I absolutely HATE that word. One person even said that sometimes the F word is the only appropriate word.  Another said that people who act so negative toward the word are probably screaming it to the top of their lungs in the privacy of their own home.  That is soooo not true.  I have never used that word, even before I became a Christian at the age of 28.   Do people think using this word makes them sound "big" or something.  Then again, why do people use that word in front of their kids?  I refuse to listen to, or read anything about that word.

    I should have stopped reading the post as soon as I realized what it is about, but I was so upset by what was being said, that I kept reading. 

    Okay, I'm getting off my soapbox,  thanks for listening.

    Deb, I totally agree.  Not sure if we are speaking about the same thread.  The one I saw had that word, wayyy too much,  in the original post.  The responders did not use the word (or the ones I saw; there may have been more posted after I left the thread). I'm not going to review the thread to see either! 

    I was 12 or 13 when my sisters (4 and 5 years older than I) related that they were hanging with some teen boys who asked them to stop using profanity because it was unladylike.  I have never developed or used profanity because of that.  That was 20 years before I came to know Christ.

    I also hate that word.  It literally goes right through me when I hear it.  It's the reason I can not watch a movie with profanity; I'm just super-sensitive to it.  Why people feel it's necessary is beyond me.  I don't want to be judgmental; to each his own with what they want to be around and what they allow their children to experience.  People have said 'well, they're going to hear it outside in the world anyway' but to my mind that is no reason they should hear it from me. 

    But think about what we allow in our lives everyday - we should not be surprised.

    Its just a shame, with all the wonderful words we have in the English language, and all the things they can describe, and so many use so few words and choosing such low slang. A real shame.

    The words don't bother me - much like the screeching of a cat in pain - I feel sorry for some people, even those who throw my empathy back into my face. I try to respond to the pain the people are feeling.........and hopefully, through good example and the help of the Holy Spirit, will help them to find other words to express themselves. So many young people today grow up with these distasteful words all around them - from the time they are babies - it's in their homes, on their televisions, in the stores, everywhere. So I try not to play the blame game...........I try to imagine how life was for Jesus in his rough-and-tough day and age. Can you imagine the Roman guards and the language they used? I think of the Roman guard who asked Jesus to come to his house to save his little daughter........and the thief who was crucified on the cross next to him.........I'm sure Jesus was able to read their hearts despite any choice of bad words they used. Maybe I'm just kidding myself............but language is a tool............it evolves..........changes..........and hopefully the people's hearts will change too for the better and when that happens, God's grace will help them "speak in tongues" - beautiful words that reach to the heart of all people in beautiful ways!

    There are 2 words that I will not tolerate and that is the f word and using Gods name in vain.  I cringe when someone uses it and think that person certainly needs to increase their vocabulary. It is all around us, movies, tv, young people.  I have never heard my grandson that is 18 say a disrespectful word but on his blog there is bad language and it makes me wish I could stick my head in the sand but I didn't.  I wrote him a long letter called advice from a nana that loves you uncondionally and my son said he has straightened up a lot after he got that letter.   I myself have posted pictures of men in bathing suits trying to fit in but you know what I won't do it again because I didn't fit in anyway.  so, I am true to myself now, will be myself, if people like me wonderful and if they don't its their loss.  Had a very busy mothers day yesterday but it was wonderful.  today I am getting the Queen treatment since we were busy yesterday.  DH fixed breakfast for me and coffee and we have been very lazy today.  Hope all has a wonderful day and swimangel you are so right, God knows all of our hearts.  God bless all of you.

    I agree with each of you.  I try and live as a sermon rather than give one, as living it is a daily testimony to the grace of God. 

    BUT, the 'f' word is one that gets to me more than any other.  It may be like the screeching of a cat in pain (I've never heard one), but with that if I could not stop it I would have to leave the room.  I do that now if I'm among people who are using it like everyday language, remove myself, rather than get into a discussion about it being today's slang. 

    My sons (22 and 25) never heard it at home; the 25 yo still cannot tolerate it and the 21 yo will not use it in my presence.  When he was home he had his internet privileges revoked because of it as I it was not allowed into the home via computer nor phone! 

    But, yes, God has the final word.

    got it in the pot and on simmering now. tomorrow we feed the hungry and for the first time we are grilling out hot dogs, chips, and each making 48 cupcakes for tomorrow night.  I sure hope it doesn't rain. I think the people will enjoy this.  We made coloring pages, mazes, and dot to dot pages for the kids to take home to do.  It should be a lot of fun.  After it is all over we have what we call life group, studing the bible together and praying for others.  We have made some wonderful friends moving here and am so glad we did.  Hope you all have a wonderful evening.

    Ys spar2 it is so important to have a church family close.  The Lord said in His Word that we are to "assemble" with other believers.  Not only for our own growth but also so as not to be overly tempted by the world.

    I switched churches last year to one only 10 minutes from home.  I'm becoming more involved in various ministries and building friendships.
