ok, I think I'm caught up LOL. Haven't kept up this past week, due to problems not related to BC.

Had to work 2 late nights last week .... monday til 830 pm and thursday til 930 pm. tired, tired, tired. Plus Hospice and the nursing home each called me twice last week about my hubby, so made a trip to San Antonio over the weekend.

so now i'm extremely over-tired and not sure i'll recover. actually i know i will, but it doesn't FEEL like it LOL.

Tx today went well (is this #5 or #6? can't remember). Nurse was amazed that i haven't gained any weight from the steroids..... guess I'm doing something right.

good luck to all, hope everybody feels well or gets over whatever it is they're suffering from.

Kimmom - The REI here really has a limited supply - but some of the patterns look so different on the computer, I didn't realize the ones I bought at REI were almost some that I ordered.  REI does have a decent supply of caps and hats for biking/outdoorswear, also bandanas.  My head is to small for caps and I really have difficulty with the whole tying thing, so I stick to knotting my buffs in the pirate directions on the packaging.  Hope you have luck at your REI.

Bunny.... I know I'm not one to talk, BUT you really need to rest.  Am I sounding like the "mom" part of my name or what?  Seriously... lots of stress on your shoulders.  I'll be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow as well as buddy, of course.

Good thoughts and vibes to all experiencing SE's today.

I begin Taxol next Tues.  Any suggestions from those already getting it?  I've read a lot about severe bone pain and neuropathy...have to say it has me real nervous!

Any good meds or preventative measures??? L-glutamine, ice packs for hands/feet, vitamin supplements???

    Thanks,

    Chris

My prayers are with you today Buddy.

Chris I start my first taxol today, I will let you know how it goes. I am a little worried about bone pain but I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

I got to have my second ambulance ride yesterday since this whole thing started... I was hit one the top of the head with a softball at my daughters softball game. There were back to back fields about 20 feet away from each other and the ball came from the other field and hit me right on top of the head. It swelled up to softball size immediately and of course everyone was freaking out because there is a bald lady with a softball on her head, it even has seams from the ball on it. I am fine though... they did a ct scan and they found nothing  (as my husband likes to joke).

Hi Chris!  I have done Taxotere, 3 out of 6 done and have had minimal SE, I believe Taxol is similar! I just take the decadron as Rx and  all I've had is muscle cramps and constipation! I hope you are as lucky!  Good Luck! Dawn

    Good Morning Warriors,

A lot of posts to catch up on.....you gals have been busy and honestly I don't know how you all work while going through this chemo stuff. I have been hibernating as my WBC are low and I am so afraid of catching something. Maybe I am being paranoid and overprotective. I have been reading the posts of all that have been hospitalized or are sick at home and my heart goes out to all of you. Please rest and get better soon.

Buddy: You have a wonderful world of cyber friends that are sending best wishes, positive energy and loving hugs your way, We will be anxiously waiting to hear from you.

Bunny: Wow...you do have a lot on your plate. I didn't realize you are dealing with so much more right now. Please take good care of yourself and don't overdo it. Big hugs to you!

    MOB: Last one today....Hooray!

Kim: Jeesh.....A ball to the head...is that what they call "Taking one for the Team?" Glad you are ok...I am sure everyone freaked out! Although it isn't funny, it did make me laugh...the way you described it...and your husband's comment...ha haLaughing Nice to see you kept a sense of humour about it!

I came across this quote and thought it was so appropriate to this group.

Quote of the Day: There is magic in long-distance friendships.  They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound. -Author UnknownSmile

    Hello Ladies,

It's been a while but, I have finally caught up with all of the posts. Too many post to write individually but, I'm hoping for well controlled SEs and other life stresses for all.

Buddy - you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Yesterday was tx #3.  Half way done!!! This treatment has started differently than the rest.  I was pretty tired yesterday and also had a little nausea.  Today I woke again with nausea.  I take Aloxi via IV and also take the EMEND so, it was a liitle surprising.  I asked my nurse to call in compazine today so, hoepfully that will work. I have phenergan but, I don't like the sleepy and loopy feeling it brings.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

Kim - Your baseball story made me laugh out loud, though of course it's not funny and I'm happy to hear that you're okay.  It's just sometimes I think, what, are you kidding, like this isn't enough?  Do I really have to deal with <the endless list of life events that just keep coming>, too?  So I'm thinking well geez, at least I haven't been hit in the head with a softball (yet).

After three days of feeling positively the worst since this all began, last night I dragged my sorry butt out dancing, because I knew I'd feel better once I got there.  Miraculously, after headaches and nausea that kept me home from work on Monday and made me positively miserable most of the day yesterday, about an hour into the evening I started to feel good.  I know it's the adrenaline and endorphins, but I'll take it.  This morning, I woke up feeling pretty good.  I had my in between blood work done, and I'm exactly where I was last time around, which is low, but counts came up by tx day last time from Neulasta, so they should this time, too.

I'm freaking out this week because a close friend of mine is having a kidney transplant on Friday.  In a bizzare turn of events, this very gentle soul that I love dearly has picked a fight with me over nothing, and there is a strange tension between us that seems petty and meaningless to me, when I'm going through this, and he's about to swap organs.  I'm trying to tread very cautiously, as I know he must be scared and stressed, and I don't want to say or do anything to make things worse for him, but I'm hurt and pissed that he picked now to be such an idiot.  Okay, sorry, that was way off topic, but I needed to vent.

I've been thinking of Buddy today and hoping all goes well with the surgery.

Buddy: prayers, good vibes, whichever you prefer...are headed your way :) Recover soon and strong!!

I'm headed to TC #3 tomorrow, so won't be online probably for a day or so. When it's done, I'm half-way through chemo, hooray!

I'm inspired by everyone here, in so many ways. We are all stronger than we know.

    Luch love to all~

    Hi everyone!

Well got tx #3 yesterday.  I was a day delayed this cycle because my onc was out sick on Monday.  So far doing okay.  I'm getting ready to ride out the icky waves the first few days...but so far nothing major.  Been sleeping and trying to get as much fluids in between and doing my anti-constipation routines.  Taking Nofran for nausea...so far its working.  The 2nd cycle was much better thant the 1st one...I am hoping this 3rd will be similar or better.

Buddy you are in my prayers.  Hoping all goes well today for you.

Bunny...thanks for the info.  Sometimes when you look into something you only hear the bad!  I was on a site talking about SE's of Taxol...everyone was in misery.  I need to hear from others that it can be O.K.I just want to be ready with whatever meds I need...before I need them!

Hope you are dealing with everything that has been thrown your direction.  You are in my prayers!
