Risk of reoccurance ??

I was just curious and I could only find dread on the internet about being Her2 positive so I figured I would come here.  I was given the adjuvant on-line info. for reoccurance but does it ever go down.

Such as 1-3 year highest for reoccurance then does it drop ??  Sorry for the silly question but I don't see my onc. until mid. May and I wanted to know now.

    I asked this question before.I was told all prognostic types of BC have the highest recurrence chances in the first 2 years of being diagnosed. I have also read,it was an article, that since Her2 positive is an agressive cancer but with Herceptin it has the better pronosis. Her2+ BC being agressive is most likely to reoccure sooner than later. I will findsome articles regarding Her2..BRB

    Any more being her2+ is much better than being a triple neg.  With herceptin taking 50% off your reocurrance rate you can't do much better, and since you have to do some sort of chemo to get herceptin you gain that benefit too.  (I am in the middle of weekly taxol x 12).  Since I only had lumpectomy I still have rads to go and since I am 61 will be doing femara.  My rate when done should be under 5%.  I don't know if this answered any of your questions or not.  Each thing you do has an effect on your rate.   Best wishes.  Annette

    The large clinical trials that were the basis for approval of Herceptin as adjuvant treatment show a large drop-off in risk.

    The "Joint" studies (NCT00004067 and NCT00005970) show a large risk drop-off between years 2.5 and 3.5 after randomization (beginning of chemotherapy).

    The HERA study shows a large decrease in risk starting after 24 months for hormone receptor negative patients and after 30 months in hormone receptor positive patients.
