Which drugs are covered?

Hi, Canadian ladies,



Could anybody tell me which drugs are covered under MSP and which under extended insurance? and which are not covered or I need to pay more premium for insurance? I mean those drugs for Chemo, Hormone treatment, etc....

    I believe any drugs administered in hospital or an oncology clinic are covered.  You may need to check with your extended health insurance co. about hormone tx, but I doubt that you would require an increased premium if you're already covered.

    I would check with your hospital's social services person for advice/info.  Also, the oncology clinic will get in touch with you re a visiting nurse (if you live in Ontario -- I don't know about the other provinces).

    Hi Anna

    Anything that is administered in the hospital are cover under you provincial plan.  The anti-nausea drugs that you will need to take during chemo to prevent you from getting sick are not.  If you have private insurance, they will take care of it - you may just need to pay the deductible.
