Stupid question.

I have been thinking...(gets me in trouble every time!) My rad onc. told me that they are killing any left over cancer cells by oxygenizing them, (that is what radiation is he said), So why would anyone take anti-oxidants?  I know that is a wierd question but can any one answer it?  Tami

    hi Tami,

No such thing as a stupid question.  When we are receiving treatment, chemo and or rads  the treatments use the free radicals which anti oxidants target.  We should not be using anti oxidants during treatment.  After treatment antioxidants are good because they tie up the free radicals.

    Hope this makes some sense.

But if you tie up your free radicals after treatment won't the cancer beable to grow better (if there is any left?).  Are free radicals good or bad?  Tami  Thanx for the thoughts.....
