I shouldn't even be here. I don't do housework, haven't for years. My son has a cleaning service and he cleans for me every 2 weeks. My first excuse was this house is too big. My second excuse was my orthopedic problems. My overwhelming excuse is I don't like housework.
-
Welcome Cheyanne, you'll fit in just perfectly.
-
2new1s- GREAT onc!! And yeah for the good news!
Cheyanne- You don't do housework? Well then this is not the place for you, hon...wait a minute...neither do WE! Welcome!! My nephew (like a son to me) is at Texas State right now. He came up yesterday and I got to see him for a few minutes. Not long enough but it was nice. He loves San Marcos.
Pull up a chair, grab some coffee and make yourself at home!
-
Oh, TexasRose.. you're too funny! Darn right we don't do housework!! Actually I might do a little pick up today and maybe a load of laundry....but that's all! I banked enough housework while my mom was here...actually, she loaned me all her banked hours, but then she wrote it off as a loss, so I don't owe her a thing for all the cleaning she did for me. PHEW!!
-
Welcome Cheyanne!!! So glad you've joined us. Everybody is right about the cleaning...hehe We do SOMETIMES. IF we feel like it and when there's just absolutely NOTHING else to do. I think you'll love it here.
Hey Caligrl I love your avatar!!! You look so cute without hair!!! You wear that style very nicely:) I've been waiting on your mom to get to my house, but she hasn't shown up yet. Was she going by Canada first?
2new1s I'm soooo thankful about your dad's good report. I wish all doctors were as considerate. Waiting over the weekend is torture. It was very kind of him to let you know. Still praying for you and your dad!!! And your son:)
Made it back from my errands. I think I'm gonna actually get some laundry done today....whew, well, I better if I want to wear clothes next week:) Hope all you ladies are enjoying your weekend.
Mom are YOU having a yard sale? That's alot of hard work, isn't it? I had a garage sale once and I worked for days getting that organized. And I think I made a grand total of 23.87 !!! hehe
-
2new1's I may have hugged you on another thread but here again! Great news! Now your turn to heal.....
Gee guys, thanks for the support, that's probably why sometimes I seem to have an acerbic wit.
Mom your garage sale reminds me; a couple of years ago my husband phoned me at work to tell me he was having a garage sale! I cringed, having visions of him selling the garage! When I came home from work I went to the table he'd had out and re-selected a lot of my kitchen stuff and took it back into the house. To this day I'm not sure what he sold and I told him not to even tell me what they paid.......sigh. Don't ask, don't tell has kinda been my motto lately.
-
2new1's, so glad to hear the news about your dad.
Barbe, honey!! Bless you, girlfriend. Is your husband's condition stable? What is it, a glioblastoma? I only ask about that one because that's a sadly common kind of brain tumor for us middle-aged folks. Good golly. Hugs to you.
Mom, that's great that resp therapists do home care in KY. In PT school, we do learn a lot about resp therapy because we need to know about endurance and also there are all these differences from state to state about whether there even is a separate license for RT or whether PTs do it or not. Weird. Anyway, we have licensed RTs in RI, but for some reason they don't do home care. But I do a fair amount of it myself, often preparing a homecare patient to be able to tolerate outpatient cardiac or pulmonary rehab, where they will work with RTs. I really enjoy it. Very rewarding, especially with pulm patients who are soooooo debilitated by poor endurance, when a patient can see some real, tangible progress. Have a patient right now who's just about ready now to go to outpt. pulm rehab. We've been at it for about 2-3 months. Really proud of him. And you're right. If smokers wanted some motivation to quit, spending some time with someone who has emphyzema and can barely take a full breath even on 4L of oxygen would surely cure them.
Didn't mean to talk shop so much, girls!! But I do love my job and it sure keeps me from feeling sorry for myself when the cancer monster bites.
Welcome Cheyanne! I must say, you must have done something incredibly right to raise a son who has a cleaning service!!! God bless you, I say! You ought to write a mom's manual so that more women could pull this off! Wish I lived in TX so you could send him to my house! How's this? I'll help you with your orthopedic problems and your son can clean my house. Deal??
-
Kathi, don't know what kind of tumours he has. There are 3. One in the back of his head at the lower right, one HUGE one behind his right cheek and another on his left parital bridge. The head of neurosurgery at a world-renouned hospital in Toronto says he can't operate or it'll kill him, they are too big to just take out. They can't believe he doesn't have seizures or headaches!
He's had a bad headache behind his left eye for the last 3 days, so I'm kinda worried.
-
Barbe heres hoping the DH is just having a headache -maybe it's pollen time there???? I gotta tell yeah though Ed can not smell a thing either, he is in charge of cleaning the liter box and puppy yard poop, that he can see. But when it's time to change the liter box he has no clue, it's back in what he calls the "man cave" a work shop, laundry room sort of thing, the cat has a kitty door that lets her in and out. Anyway I just take the jug of liter and set it in the middle of the floor - he knows it's time.
I am so excited he took the entire weekend off, today we have been doing chores all AM, he emptied and cleaned our entire front screened porch, top to bottom, now doing the yard, I have done inside work. He said today is work day, tonight is the beach party and Sunday we will just hang out at the beach - so wonderful to have him all weekend. YEAH - See me smile.
Yeah for everyones GREAT-GREAT medical news - WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY WEEKEND ALL - XOXOXOXOXOXO

2new1s glad to hear about your dad.
Barbe I'm sorry about your husband I will pray for him.
I am out of the hospital, came home yesterday. The doc took my ovaries and left the uterus because he did not want to open me up and give me a longer recovery time. I am doing ok a little sore and been napping alot. Surgery went well. Now just to take it easy....So no cleaning today
Lori

Kak I am also having to learn not to judge a book by its cover in this home care business. I never had to worry what kind of person someone was when I worked in the hospital with them, everyone was just a patient. But it makes you feel very vulnerable when you are alone and going to some isolated home in timbuktu and the patients son looks like a character from some bad who done it movie. One of the first patients I had was a woman whose son lived with her. He wore all black, had tattoos all over (mean looking things too
) and scars running down his face. I really considered just turning around and running back to my car when he answered the door and asked me to come in. Then when he spoke he was so polite and gentle that it just didn't seem like such a polite voice could be coming out of such a rough looking body. When I finished with his mom I walked into the living room and he had Christian programming on. Whewww! was I relieved.
-
Lori so glad you are out and back on here! You be sure and take it easy for awhile.
-
LORI! Welcome back, heal well! (((((((((( hugs ))))))))))))
Kathi, have a blast at the beach partay dahlin'....yes, I am jealous!
-
Lori, glad to see you back on board. NO CLEANING for you for ages!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hey, Cathi & Barbe, at least you can make someone else clean the litter box! I have to clean my own!
-
Hey all!!! Hope you all are having a great Saturday! Cathi!!! I'm jealous too!!! You're going to the beach!!! Hope you have a great time. It's nice to do something fun when you have things caught up at home, huh?
KAK and Mom...it sounds like you both have such rewarding jobs! Helping others is so fulfilling! It sounds like there are some blessed folks to have both of you caring for them.
Lori!!! So glad you're back girl. And I agree with Sharon! No cleaning for AGES:) You've earned the right to take off for the rest of the year!!! I think you'll feel better with those ovaries out, once you're healed and all. Probably gonna have to deal with that menopause junk, but it's doable. Might want to warn the family of sudden mood changes..........hehe
I've spent the afternoon outside. It's about 85 degrees here today..........whew summer already! My DH's great aunt gave us a huge cast iron pot years ago. It's pretty rusty, so I spray painted it black and think I'm gonna plant some flowers in it. I just love old stuff. Maybe some pretty pettunias or something will look nice.
Well, big hugs to all today!!!!! Enjoy your evening:)
-
Ok girls be nice, it's my 1st go at posting pics from the web.
Mum, thank you for the lesson.xx
Now I'll need to try it out with my own pictures from my computer, not sure if that will be as easy.
Anyhow, this is a 7 minutes walk from my house, where I walk to feed the ducks and swans. It's a shame I don't feel safe doing the walk on my own cause i'd do it everyday, but did used to go with kids everyday, now just occasionally. (The "safe" thing is down to stuff way back when, but it keeps you over cautious, shame). Anyhow, thats my little bit of pretty nature, a nature reserve on my doorstep. It is a blessing.
Barbe, you sure are a fabulous person, of course you are brave, but sometimes that is non negotiable, but it's the spark and vitality and generosity with which you live that makes you outstanding. hugg.
Mom! You have finaly had your yard sale! yeha! How was it? Is there anything left in the house? You insipre me, I have been so sillillyyy tired, but I so want to banish any clutter (well except the art cupboard) as it is too fun to do that stuff with the kids! I am even contemplating the idea of getting rid of all that doesn't fit in my wardrobe. That would leave me with very little but, then if I hang on to my "littler" stuff and never get back into them, that's not good "fen sweeeee" is it? I think I shall do that.. Oh, do any of you ever fantasise about having a "little helper" that comes along for a week and helps you get on top of all your "to dos"?? What am I saying! you are always in one and other's houses "virtually"! Boy could I use some of that magic right now.
Anyhoooo, Lori and all you post surgical ladies, have yourself a super indulgent, in your bathrobe and slippers week. Wishing you the best recovery. You are to work VERY HARD at doing NOTHING at all, except taking care of YOU!
Bless you all, sending my best over to you right now.
xx Shiny

Dear Coonie,
Forgot to say. Your big pot idea sounds great. I am pretty clueless about planting myself but am, blessed with a garden that was planted by the gardeners who used to live here before us. Lots of things blossoming right now. What ever survived our arrival with our decidely NOT green thumbs is doing just fine without our input!
Oh forgot to mention! We have got a nest full of baby robin redbreasts in our open shed on a shelf. My DH has put in a camera linked to a monitor in the kitchen ( we used to need when my boy was smaller) The kids get to see the mum and dad birdies come in and feed their little ones. It's such a treat and also, may just go a way at soothing my son's fear of birds. He's loving it.
xx Shiny
-
Yippeeeee for you Shiny!!! The pics are just GREAT!!! Once you get started, there's no going back:)hehe....it's an addiction!!! I just love your vocabulary....I'm learning some new words. Down here in the boondocks we just say things like........gitter done
-
Oohhhh!!! Just read your post about the birds!!! That is sooooooo NEAT!!! I would love to watch that.
I bet your kids are in awe of that!!! Thanks for sharing that story with us:)
-
Hoo Coonie,

Hey Shiny.....I always get my pics from www.photobucket.com and sometimes www.google.com. You can find just about anything. Just type in a word and a pic will come up!!! Now I've done it, huh? I forget your time is way ahead of ours. You stay up late girl!!! It's 3:35 pm here and I'm 'bout ready for bed myself:) hehe......NED is a wonderful thing!!!! Keep on dancing with him:)
-
Oh, Shiny, how very wonderful and magical for your kids! And you. I once had a robin family nesting in a grape arbor over my front walk, but I didn't know it right away. All of sudden, as I would walk to my front door, a robin would be perched on the lattice work, talking to me very loudly. Thought he or she was saying hi, so I would say hi back. Finally, after 5 days of this, I thought to look up, and there above my head was the nest, with 4 little scrawny babies sitting in a circle, with their heads facing up to the sky, their eyes closed and their beaks wide open waiting for Mom or Dad to drop in a meal!! I told Mr. & Mrs. Robin I would not disturb them & congrats, and then I got some blueberries from the frig & placed them in a little mini bird-feeder dish just below the nest. Well, as soon as I got back in the house to watch from the window, Mom & Dad started taking berries and feeding them to the kids. And neither of them 'shouted' at me anymore when I walked down my walk.
Can you record any of the images from your spy-cam? It would be great to see some stills!!
Gotta love Spring!
-
It's 21:37 here, so it is quite early. I should be downstairs finishing making all tidy and organised for the mornig (DH is gone all weekend) but my bones are screaming, even in bed my heals hurt. Nevermind. I am up very early anyhow, so shall get it done whilst the kids play in the morn.
Have a peachy night.
ps: You do know that I am Canadian? I have lived here nearly 18 years though. Just thought I'd check. I do love the Louisiana accent, lucky you!
Nighty night friend.
Shiny
-
Night night....sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite:)
KAK......that's a GREAT story! Mr. and Mrs. Robin were probably so thankful for the meal. Probably made Mr. Robin very happy that he didn't have to go out digging for worms or something! And hey.....blueberries are MUCH better than worms any ole day
-
KAK, Lovely story with the blueberries. I will check with my DH but the monitor is not giving us a stable screen most of the time..lines across and jumping every few seconds. humm We have a bird feeding table, but I like the idea of a littel mini larder just under their nest, now that is what I call room service!
Shiny
-
OOOOOOOOOOh I LOVE the birdie stories! I, too am afraid of birds if they're flying around me. Not if I'm just looking at them through a window. What a great way to get your son over his fear of birds, Shiny!
We throw stale bread out for the birds and bunnies. I called them rabbits last night and my husband said they were bunnies! I said, what's the difference, he said, bunnies is such a cuter name....okay, bunnies, it is!
-
Hey shiny love the pics!!! I agree with Coonie it's addicting! lol Loved the story about your nature walk...I used to live in the country...long time ago... miss it! I married a city boy and live in the city now...love him enough to stay in the city but sure do miss the country! I do have a pretty good sized back yard though and I fill it to the max! Like a jungle back there, when I'm back there I can almost forget I'm in the city... I would love to see your monitor too! What a great idea!
I went back and made notes on all the posts...wrote a long post and lost it! FUDGE!!! I hate when that happens! Soooooooo, gonna do an abbreviated post...
Welcome Cheyanne!!!
Caligrl... What a gem your mom is! I'm with Coonie, I'll borrow her!
Barbe... (((((Hugs))) You're an amazing woman...would've never known...you always make me smile...love your wit.
1Cathi... enjoy your beach party....so jealous!
LMDuncan... ((((Hugs))) so glad to see you post...been thinkin' about ya. REST!
mom2two...ekes! That has to be strange...not knowing who you're gonna encounter. Fills a big need though. Did I hear garage sale???
Coonie... I love old things too! I have my dad's ancient hand plow...stands under my crab apple tree in the back & makes me smile. (memories of him plowing mom's veggie garden) It still works too! With a lot of muscle of course
Seltzer... (((((((Hugs)))))))))) hope you're doing well...thinking about you.
This is gonna be me soon!!!
-
Well Ladies I'm back...still NOT doing any housework either...The DH took it seriously when they said don't lift anything for two weeks.........snicker...........So I haven't lifted a finger...
Am still kinda sore...mostly where she took the port out..oh and got great news the other day. The BS called, said the 5 nodes, the first one had slight cancerous cells in it, the other 4 were clean...as for the breast, well she said evidently she didn't get clean enough margins as there is still a 1mm spot or so of DCIS. She said she's pleased and normally they would rely on the radiation to get something that small, but she would have to talk to my onc, see if he wanted her to go back in and get cleaner margins. Knowing how anal my onc is, I will most likely be getting a reincision........I'm so happy, NOT!!!! Kind of down in the dumps about that, I don't mind the surgery, in fact, my breast hasn't hurt at all, it's just that I wanted to hurry and get to radiation and be done with all of this...But would rather be free of cancer too!
Well just an update to my non cleaning friends! LOL............I am getting exercise, I'm lifting that coffeecup!
-
Hey Deb!! It's so good to see you post. Sorry about the "not clear margins", but you're right. It's better to be safe than sorry. You'll be glad you did once it's all over. Make sure your coffee cup isn't too heavy, or get DH to hold it for you.......hehe. Take advantage of all the pampering you can get!! Big hugs to you. Take it easy:)
