What do you mean by residual cells?  I may have that and not know. How did you find them and how were there diagnosed??

I think this means poorly defined cancer cells.  In other words they never fully matured. They still need to be treated I feel if your triple negative.  This sounds like what some of us had early on and was labeled "chest wall mets".  Chest wall mets is not something you play around with if this is what you have.  What is your doctor saying about all this??

    Fladalady....and all:

I had chemo (docetaxol) and radiation for this recurrence (from 12 years ago ) on my masectomy site  Treatment ended around  Oct.2008..   It was successful up to a point.....residual cells left --but inactive now (about 1 1/2 in. by 1 1/2 in.)

Now they monitor me , etc.

The area twinges/smarts intermittently from...? being close to a nerve maybe/  radiation effects/  the cells themselves, etc.

    janinvan,

Maybe try some gentle flexing exercises and see if you chest wall is trying to stiffen up from rads. I had a lot of pain after rads and physical therapy really helped with this for a while. Do you hurt along the breast bone?  I did and they said this was due to the cartilage that was damaged by rads and to put a heating pad on it and do range of motions exercises.

I hope your twinges go away. I know this is stressfull to think about....the what if???

Please join us on the alternative section and see if there is anything you might find of value that you can keep those sickly cells dead and maybe fight of a recurrences.  If nothing else rebuild your body just in case you have to go back into treatment.

    janinvan,

There is a some great tapes to show you how to move your lymphatic system to help with heading off lymphedema. These same exercise are the ones they use for the flexibility of chestwall and shoulder area.  It's not unusually for the pain to show up months after stopping treatment.  Your pain may go away in a few months.

I need to get into my other computer and send you some basic supplements that have show to improve your body from treatment side effects and have been documented as prevention.  The thread "natural girls' is long but give you some ideals what others are doing.
