Happy New Year and may we stay cancer free, young, beautiful, sexy and smart as heck another year. O.K. lets settle for cancer free but I can dream.Hugs, Mare
-
Mary, You mean we are not young, beautiful and smart? Gee whiz, what a bummer !
On a more serious note. When is everyone's 5 year anniversary? Mine is March 11.
Hugs, Janie

Janaie, I have to look mine up. I will do that today. About the rest, we are young according to the old geezer the other day at Kroger who said while talking about being tired "you are just a baby", I am 82 years old. Beauty is only skin deep(according to my grandmother who would tell me that and I wonder now if she was only trying to make me feel good in case I couldn't get a handsome guy), its what is inside that counts and by golly, I can say with all honesty we are dam beautiful! I will say we are smart I just have misplaced some of my smarts but I always find stuff when I don't need it. There are times when toolman makes me feel like a carpenter prodigy so that helps. Gotta get, Hi to all. Hugs, Mare

Hey ladies,
I am just coming up for air. Had 5 psychs (11-17 pages apiece), 5 eligibility reports (another 15 pageseach ) and 6 redetermination reports (3 to 7 pages each) all due the lst 3 days of this week. I have been working almost nonstop. However, I did go to the GA/TN game Saturday and then to watch some Arabian horses. Was not about to cancel either of those. But now I am tired, and not thinking straight (even more so than usual) so I am going to kick back and watch AI tonight.
Stay warm. It is really cold here.
Hugs, Janie

Hey girls, glad you are getting some Janie time in there. Gosh I doubt I could concentrate long enough to do all that. It is going to be below 0 so burrr!!! Hubby and I have put on some poundage since the Holliday season. Frankly it has been to cold to peek out to even pick up the news paper let alone walk. I do run to the car when I really have to get out. One would think all the body contorting shivering would wear off a pound or 5. Nope! Hubby came home from Wally with fruit, so we could eat fruit instead of Russell Stover maple or vanilla cream or marshmallow eggs,( I got a bunch on sale candy after x-mas like theRussell Stover santas and snowmen).Well what a wonderful idea, bananas, apples, oranges, strawberries. Frankly I have never liked much fruit (and hubby isn't looking to good either forcing this make me feel guilty if I don't eat some healthy fruit crap, especially if he looses and I don't) but I am willing to try. We are going to loose weight now girls. I have gained 5 pounds depending on when I weigh. Early a.m. well, 149 but afternoon and evening with my housecoat on mind you I am at 151. Now this is causing problems with my pants that are used to a144 lb. rear. O.K. I am really into this whole fruit thing so I went to Wally and picked up some chocolate dip and carmel apple sauce which is good on the bananas when you are out of honey. I am not affraid of trying and if I don't get back to 144 well there is Spring and I will make it up then. Really I would love to see 127 again and I daydream about how slender I looked then, before chemo, but thats just not gonna happen and I frankly think chemo is to blame and I am sticking to that alabi! Thank the gene pool for the 5'- 7 1/2" height or I would be singing a little different tune and working a little or a lot harder than I am. Maybe. I do love being outside and walking and "thinking" about doing healthy things someday. ahhhh. Oh Janie, I think I had my mamo in March but it was like 3 or 4 wks. until I actually got into the surg. for my cancer. I had the biop. then saw the cancer surg. so I would say I will be at 5 years since dx in March. I started chemo June the 6th. I better go so stay warm girls. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, I packed on the pounds lately too and I already had too many. But my pants were getting entirely too snug so I am now on high protein, low fat. Yes! Chemo does make you gain. They told me I would gain. They did not lie. I think it may mostly be the steroids they give you, but whatever, I gained and have not been able to get it back off.
The meds they give me for PD skonks me out and I have all I can do to keep up with what I must do. Exercise is a joke. When I was in the hospital, they kept putting food in front of me, more than I ever eat at home, but I could not be rude and not eat it, could I....it actually was pretty good, especially the pie.
You and I were right together on this journey from beginning to now, it appears. I was dx'ed in March and started chemo June too -- and still trying to lose the weight gained.
Stay warm,
Janie

Hey Girls, I have an Onky apt. in a couple wks. I got my blood work done already and went and got my test results from med. records because I wanted to see my tumor markers now.... They are good and so is my other blood work(well our new "good"). I feel good about that. I hope I can go to every year now. oh well, someday. I hope everythings good at your place P.J. and Janie is getting some relaxiation. Hi out to Nancy Lee. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey Mary (also Paula, Nancy and others),
Mare, glad to hear your test results are good. I have my regular onc appointment this afternoon. I expect good results as well. He will be more concerned with my inflamed nail on my lymphedema hand. I keep getting these. I do not know how to prevent it. I have used antibiotic cream, pure alcohol and peroxide. I am not supposed to have any infection, no matter how small on this arm. As I already told Mary in email, I am now being monitored for aortic stenosis.... not bad enough for surgery because surgery would be the greater risk, but perhaps sometime in the future, something will have to happen .... there is a new less invasve technique in the works. Maybe it will be offered by the time or if I ever need it. Mine measures 1.00 (1.00 to 1.5 is moderate). They get excited at .7.
Hope all is well with everyone. Hugs. Janie
