Hi Cook.  Welcome to our group.  You'll find a lot of great information on these boards.  It's helped me somuch.  There is no protocol that I'm aware of... Feel free to jump in wherever you want!  I think there is a forum for LCIS.  You will probably find a load of information there!  Personally I don't know anything about that so I can't help.

What is your rad treatment plan going to be?

    Welcome Cook1!

Do you have LCIS or ILC?   I never heard of LCIS being radiated... just curious.

Hi Cook1.    I found reading and writing on these boards during my treatments helped me a lot.  After today i will ONLY have 16 treatments left!  I keep telling my co-workers i can see the light at the end of my journey and i finally need sunglasses!

    Hi Ladies,

I finished my rads on April 8th... For those of you who have just started or will be starting soon, I highly recommend 'Natrures Inventory - Radiation Therapy' oil, which I used faithfully 2 times a day and made it through the entire 6 weeks of treatments without burning at all. My rads oncologist was amazed... I was thrilled!

Best of luck to all of you!!

Just finished rad #17, 11 more to go!  Slightly red, but nothing major.  No pain.  I use Aloe maybe once a day (if I remember).  I do see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Hang in there!

Today was # 7 for me. One quarter of the way! I am slightly red, and have been using aloe and Udderly Smooth cream.

For my mastectomy, I was prescribed camisoles that have slight support for the breasts, so I have been using them. My mastectomy bras with the prosthesis in them put too much pressure on my skin. I am fortunate in that I am on disability right now, so don't have to wear professional clothes. I can wear what is comfy.

My rad onc told me to go topless around the house, so I have. DH is very happy about that. Once he gets home, I get nothing done unless I cover up, LOL

Woohoo for the weekend with two days off!

My son went to Australia with People 2 People about 7 years ago and my daughter went to Spain, Italy and France.  My son earned most of his own money, but did get some sponsorships.  When he came home, he had to report about his trip.  My daughter wrote letters to the businesses in town and solicited donations that way.  When she came back, she had to give a presentation.  It's well worth the expense if they can go.

Jane- There is no doubt in my mind it is worth it. What I would have given to have had the same opportunity when I was her age.... We can try the businesses to see if they would donate. Obviously we have to have a plan in place to promise something in return for their $. I'll talk to my daughter about it. Might be a bit touch with the ecomony though...

Smiling as I read Bette's post about her husband : )   I remember times like that...

Cebula- The past two weeks have gone by pretty fast, so I hope the next 4 will too. Then we'll look back and watch others be jealous  hah!

Beat, time for bed. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

bethaib, you're too funny. You're right, it does go fast. I was dx back in October, and while the wait until chemo started was horrible, I can't believe how quick chemo went by! Still have 5 weeks to go... better than 7 ;)

I'm not feeling so hot this afternoon.  I slept late today and exercised, ran my errands and grocery shopping.  I took a nap this afternoon and just cannot get myself going.  Ugh, I hope this isn't the fatique I've heard about associated with rads.

Lainey64 - hope you feel better soon.

I get  tired early afternoon also but I'm afraid to take a nap.  Before all this bc if I took an afternoon nap I had problems falling asleep at night so I still carry that thought.  Also don't want to get into the habit of taking a nap - might be habit forming LOL!

Only 3 more weeks of rads to go!

    Hey There Caligirl -

No redness yet.   I soaked my skin with vitam E oil all weekend and use ice packs to reduce my lymph node swelling from the post - op surgery along with a few ADVILs.

Getting ready for Monday treatment # 5 .

Can It Be... That is good to hear!  I believe the redness I had is gone now.. i am using Emu Oil and have now added 100% aloe vera as well.. i also bought some fitted tank tops so i can avoid wearing a bra to work. Here's hoping that this week is a walk in the park and that all is well. Good luck to you and your #5 rad.

Hi April Gals.  I hope everyone had very restful and pleasant "rads free" weekend.  Mine was pretty good.  There were times when I wasn't feeling so hot.  Late yesterday afternoon I really started feeling it.  I was tired and had an almost nauseous feeling.  I had a sandwich for dinner and felt a little better.  It's getting harder and harder to wake up when the alarm goes off at 6:15 a.m.  I barely made it up by 6:45 today.  I guess this is the fatigue I've heard about it.  My booby is fine though.  Just a slight irritation but aloe vera gel helps with that alot.  Today will be #21.  I guess I'm doing ok so far considering this is my 5th week of this junk.

Debbie, I don't think your burned neck will get you in trouble.  Hope it's not hurting too much.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hey Ladies,

#6 down, 19 more to go.  By last Thursday (#4) I was pretty tired at the end of the day. Friday I was achey and warm like I had the flu, but no temp. But then I recoped over the weekend. My skin is ok so far, might be a tiny bit pink. But still feeling like my face is flushed and hot.

It was in the 90's here in NJ this weekend.... the wig thing is just not happening in that kind of weather!  agh.

Elaine-It does sound like you hit the fatique point.  Stay hydrated and rest and try to keep up the exercise, they say that helps. But I'm sure it's hard to exercise when you feel like poop!

    Hang in girls!

I'm feeling really nauseous today.  Not like I did on chemo, but more like I'm gonna puke any second.  I talked to a friend at work who did rads about 7 yrs ago and she said that she felt this way a lot... kind of "under the weather" feeling.  I guess I am on Week 5 and would be super lucky if I wasn't feeling something by now.  I just hate it though and am fighting it!

8 more to go...and I'm looking fondly at those orange highway cones and wondering if I could use one to protect my radiated boob!

    Hi ladies -

Was supposed to get #20 today, but was given a five day "radiation vacation" because of bad skin rash- rads onco thinks it is a bad reaction to Aquafor - lots of red bumps all over the radiated breast area - so he said to use hydrocortisone 1% and nothing else on the area for now - these symptoms did not manifest themselves until Friday . . . so I spent the entire weekend slathering the area with aloe vera and Aquafor, and it just made it worse!  And to top it all off, also got a bad reaction to Jean's Cream . . . I wonder if just leaving it alone at this point and going topless around the house would be the best medicine for this!

    Frustrated April Rads Person!

Elaine-My onc. said to take the anti-nausea meds that were given to us during chemo and they should work on the nausea due to rads.  I really was hoping that was NOT going to happen to anyone... didn't we have enough with chemo!?!?!?  Are you keeping up with the fluids? I was also told radiation makes you very dehydrated and that would make u nauseaus also.

    Britt-That s*cks!!!!!!!

Susan, I drink water all day.  I hope this nausea is due to the rads and not something else.  I was pannicking for a minute and thinking I'm catching the flu but I have no fever.  My rad tech and doctor never mentioned anything about nausea.  I didn't know it was a possibility.

I hope you feel better.  Hang in there, you are almost near the end of your treatments! In the meantime if your rad onc tells you the nausea has nothing to do with the rads, call your med. onc. and tell him. I'm sure he'll give you something or advise what you can do.
