My mother is a stroke survivor and was just diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is scheduled for a left breast mastectomy April 28th.  I am concerned with her balance after the mastectomy.  Does any one have any helpful insight?  She was considering get both if it would help.  She was diagnosed with non-invasive with a chance that in is invasive.  They are testing her lymph nodes and she will not get the tests back until May 7th.  Her biggest fear is that it has spread.  I would also like any advise on how to help her through this.  She has been very depressed and I try to keep her positive.  Thank you for any advise!!!

Hi Liss, sorry to hear about your mom, sounds like she is having a hard time any way and then to have bc, has got to be hard for all of you, I just had mx on april 6th and my balance was ok but she probablty will need some pain meds and depending on what they give her she may just want to rest. j dont know the extent of her stroke but i pray she will be ok and it sounds like she has good support having a caring daughter like you she will get thru this, Iam new on this site so i probably am not much help but there are lots of wonderful ladies here you can help you anytime you need it,

Five years ago, I had a blood drop stuck in my brain. i spend 1 week on the intensive care unit at the McGill Hospital. That I came out alive was a miracle. I was on morphine for a week back then. After one week, I was suppose to have surgery, to shave my head, put a metal clip into my brain....

Before surgery the docs got a camera from my leg into the brain. The blood was gone, no more pain, I was dismissed, never had a problem again. I went for a check-up 2 years ago, the head doc still remembers me and thinks---- I should be in the book for medical mysteries.

Well, now I am here with BC, and this is not going to get me down. Its not easy, but I will survive this one too.

But you know what,,,,,,,,,I think your Mom is going to go though this, she did with her stroke, and thats a big one, she will get through it soooo much easier with a great daughter like you.
