Oil Pulling
Has anyone heard of Oil Pulling? I just read some information about it to help receding gums, but the artical says it has been shown to help in cancer as well as many other "dis" eases.
Deepak Chopra has talked about it according to the info I have found. I am going to try it!

I've heard about oil pulling as well, but I actually just started it tonight! Mostly I've heard that it helps to make your teeth a lot whiter, but I figure it can't hurt. I'm using coconut oil because I'd heard that some other oils can actually stain your teeth, and I like the taste of coconut oil better than any other kind. My theory on how it works is mostly about the essential fatty acids. I think you can't help but swallow some of them, and you absorb a lot from under your tongue as well. People swear it makes their teeth whiter. I'm skeptical, but willing to give it a shot.
Curious to know if anyone else has done it!

I found several sites on the net referring specifically to Deepak Chopra's book Perfect Health and he recommends sesame or sunflower oil which I understand are the only ones allowed to be used in India. However, the Austin Energy Healing Group which is where I found the information says many people are experimenting with other oils.
Try Googling it and see what you think. The Chopra explanation is calling it massage of the mouth and/or tongue which he says has meridians similar to what is taught in acupuncture it seems.
My gums have been getting worse all of a sudden, now that I am post therapy, and I wonder if it is all the chemo. The energy site says many things have been reported to be healed with this oil pulling. What the heck do we have to lose?

After reading this post, I googled it and it looks very interesting.
DeAnn and Carol....did you try it and how is it working for you?
I am in the middle of doing my chemo right now and I would like to try it, but I hope it would be ok to do it while on chemo?

Christy,
I actually tried it a couple of days ago and it is more difficult than it sounds, but certainly worth a try. Since it is just oil, I don't see any reason it should interfere with chemo.
My oncologist happens to be a personal friend of mine and she is very open minded, so was very open to anything I wanted to try to fight cancer. In fact she approved Patrick Quillin's (Quillon, sp?) book Beating Cancer With Nutrition. He is former VP of The Cancer Treatment Centers of America and his book shares concepts that are designed to enhance chemo, while negating the negative se's. It is very worth your while to check. You can Google it and read excerpts from it on line.
I have a dear friend who is an 11 year cancer survivor, who had surgery and then went holistic. 11 years certainly speaks to my heart. I, however, trusted my gut and my oncologist in my battle and thought that chemo was best for me given my dx. She was inspirational to me in my healing journey, and now I am trying to do the same thing for others.
May I suggest for you to just do lots of research and listen to your heart. I knew something was wrong, but didn't know what...
Best of health to you and keep up the research, my friend.

Thanks, I have been going to a homeopathic doctor and have been doing enyzmes and herbal drops along with my chemo. I satrted with her as soon as I found out about my cancer and before my surgery.
My oncologist was very open to the homeopathic treatment, and told me to do everything I could to help myself.
I am definitely going to try the oil pulling since it can't hurt.

What is oil pulling?
-
It is best to research the oil pulling yourself to see what it says to you. My understanding based on Deepak Chopra's information is that oil pulling is the process of gently swishing sesame and/or other oils in the mouth upon awakening in the morning. It should be done for about 10-20 minutes and is supposed to "pull" toxins, and parasites out of the mouth through the gum tissue. It does take practice and is not as easily done as it sounds.
