Very confused! Radiologist supplementary report

Did anybody get a supplementary report couple of days after US guided core biopsy? What's supplementary report? When the radiologist did the core biopsy, it's stated on the report saying "a supplementary report will be issued when the results have been obtained". Does the "results" mean biopsy result?



I am so confused that why the final result comes from Radiologist?? Will that supplementary report be the final report to present the dx or should be the biopsy report? Shouldn't the pathologist send the report to the doctor?





Anybody else could help? Thanks!!

    The pathologist will send a copy of the report to your Dr.  You should get one also.  SOme of the tests they do on your biopsy can be read in a day or two.  Others like the FISH report (tells you whether you are HER2 + or- ) takes a couple of weeks).  You should know from your initial report whether you have cancer or not, the grade and if it is estrogen fed or not.  Your final report will not come until after you have surgery if you have cancer.  That way they can really "dig in" and test it.  It is all confusing, good luck to you.  Tami

    Thanks for the prompt response. The supplementary report came from the radiologist, not from my doctor. it says "confirmed features of ILC". why this confirmation came from radiologist report instead of path? But this supplementary report was faxed at the day when I was told the biopsy result already came out. So guess the radiologist got my biopsy report earlier than the clinic doctor??



    Did anybody get the same result on your biopsy report saying "confirmed features of ILC"? May I know what's EXACTLY SHOWING on your biopsy report?

    Sorry another question: So when the result came out, the biopsy report should be sent to the clinic doctor right? and we would be able to get the FISH report later which is supposed to be a separate report, correct? Thanks.
