Scared for Mom
Hi All,
Since my mom started Arimidex her right hand is not working right. She says it isn't numb, it just doesn't do what she wants it to. Please tell me this is a side effect of Arimidex and not a sign of brain mets. I hate this and hate that you all have to deal with the things that my mom is dealing with.

Gg08,
Thanks for the reply. It started right after she started Arimidex and has pretty much stayed the same. I honestly don't think it is a stroke. She does have bone mets so the spine could be a feasible explanation. God, I just want her to be ok.
-
Well, it is brain mets for my mom. Almost 7 months to the day of her 1st trip to the ER. Here is the kicker...it's her birthday tomorrow and she is spending it in an MRI machine. I am so sad and angry and hate this awful disease. Thanks to all of you for you kindness, wisdom and strength.

My heart goes out to you, your mom and all affected by IBC. She is so fortunate to have you. I know how you are feeling. Keep up the good work.
I wish there was a place to post "I Hate My Friend Has IBC" .
My friend was just diagnosed with Stage IV Inflammatory Breast Cancer last week. Doctors got it wrong for 3 weeks and now it has already spread to her brain, bones and lungs.
All I want is to be there for her, say the right things and give her hope. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
-
Well, there is a place here for friends and loved ones and there are many people in our position. I am so sad that your friend has been diagnosed with IBC. IBC is very rare and aggressive and it is stage III and up at presentation. I can tell you that my mom responded beautifully to chemo right away and there are tons of chemo options. Please tell you friend to come here. I can imagine that she feels quite alone being that this type of BC is so rare!
-
Thank you, thank you for your kind reply. It is amazing how good it feels just to be able to "reach out" and receive a reply.
You are so right, IBC is very rare and support for her is badly needed. I will definitely tell my friend about this site.
I want to scream or throw things but find myself just crying so often
-
I know, I have had a couple good cries tonight. It is ok, it is how you feel. You do your crying, you stop and you get proactive. Your friend will definitely benefit from women who are in the same position and who know what is going on!

Jadai! OH NO!!!!!!!!The last I heard about your mother, was the story you told about her recently to reassure me about how well she went through chemo and her mastectomy -- and how she was back to living her life and ENJOYING it!NOW THIS?!?!?! :-O :-*(I'm SO sorry for both of you -- and now I know better than to let myself get deluded about my own condition because I happen to be, so far, tolerating my own recently started chemo a lot better than I ever thought possible.Grrrrr. Is it a crime to shoot optimists? I hate them, I hate them, I HATE them!!Which means I better not come back to bco.org any more. There are too many freakin' optimists and "hope" people. I don't need the delusions or the cavities.Goodbye everyone, and good luck, if there is such a thing.~Lena.
-
Oh Lena, I am sorry that I have put you in this place, that was never my intention. She really does feel fine and they do intend on zapping those spots! I am glad to hear that you are tolerating chemo well. I wouldn't say I am an optimist but when things are going well there is a reason to celebrate. Now, there is a bump in the road and we will get over it and see what is next. Yes, it sucks, it totally and completely f***ing sucks.

Jadai:
Keeping you and your mom in my prayers.

Lena:

Thanks so much for for asking. She will start brain radiation tomorrow and they seem pretty positive that they will zap those lesions. Hopefully it will help with her leg and hand too! I wish I could say that I was ok but I'm not. I can't sleep or eat or focus on anything else. Just awful! How are you?
-
Hi,
Well, my mom was not tolerating radiation very well so I had her admitted to the hospital on Friday. She could barely walk, couldn't eat or drink and just slept all day. I was so worried. I just got home and she is already doing 100x better. Her oncologist has decided that she needs round the clock care until her brain recovers so she will be entering a rehab facility for at least the next week. I am so relieved that she will be somewhere where she will receive the proper care and I don't have to worry about her all day. The one thing I have noticed and am disgusted with is the fact that when the S*** hits the fan people are nowhere to be found!!!!

Hi Gg08,
Thank you for the kind note. Yes, I am so disappointed with so many people but all that matters is that me and my sister are there!!!!
