Easter was great..my kids are young and I am trying to not blink because I know more now than ever that they will grow and want there space..I am thankful that they are young and still like to snuggle..I need the snuggles more than ever right now...
-
You are so right about the snuggles.
-
Just got back from my 5th (!!!) fill - I'm up to 550 CCs now and feel huge!! They want to add 100 more ... so I've got two more visits. So ... who 's interested in meeting next Sat the 25th for lunch somewhere near Midland/Bay City/Mt Pleasant? Let me know who can join me, and what city they'd prefer to meet at, and we can finalize arrangements. It'd be great to meet you!! sue
-
Sue is the 26th okay???? If not , I am good for the 25th....anywhere is okay as long as I know in advance. Good idea. Thanks for getting this started.
-
25th where? lunch...when time? congrats on the fill...almost done...
-
Let me know what's up Midmichiganders!!
-
Hi ladies, Let's do the 26th. I totally forgot I have to go to a nephew's college graduation at GVSU Saturday (yippee - 4 hours in the car!). Does 12:30 work on Sun the 26th? We could do Applebee's if that sounds okay for everybody. How will we know each other?!? (I've got my dog pic posted on my profile, not me!) I'm 5'10" with light brown/blond streaked hair. I'll try to get there a couple of minutes early and tell the hostess that I'm expecting others and give her my name. That way you ladies can ask to be taken to Sue's table. I'm looking forward to meeting you! This is an open invitation to anyone else from the area who wants to join us so spread the word. See you Sunday! sue
-
Do you mean Applebees in Mount Pleasant or Midland? You will know me. I wear a beret to cover my bald head! It will probably be black......
-
What's closer for you? Mt P or Midland? Either one works for me ... sue
-
Sue,
Mt Pleasant is easier for me. Plus, I know right where the Applebees in Mt. Pls. is at!
-
Hey Trudi, did you want to ride over to Mt P together since we're both in Midland? Let me know ... I'm happy to drive if you like. sue

Tg33:
Sorry I did not answer your question. I live north of Detroit. I'v had a lot going on since the last I posted. I was dx with anemia with iron deficiency so I have been doing a lot of sleeping. My pcp thinks it might be due to the chemo that I had almost 4 years ago. He started me on an iron supplement and he ordered a colonoscopy and EGD just to make sure nothing else is going on. The only thing that I am not looking forward to is the EGD just the thought of a prob going down my throat. I'm scheduled for these procedures on May 7th the prep the day before is not going to be fun.
I see my onc tomorrow afternoon I have a feeling that he is going to be ordereding more test.

I have no idea how I missed this post. Hello Michigan ladies. Nancy here from the South East side of the State.
Trudy - love auctions. Ever get out our way?
Have a wonderful time at your get together in Mt. Pleasant. I had to look at the map for that one. Take pictures and be sure to stop by the get-together topic.
We have a team called Wings of Hope and I will post the info about joining below. If you are part of the YSC team, give us a wave and try to find us! We'd love to meet you.
About me: Diagnosed in 2003 with invasive mucinous. Had chemo, radiation, many surgeries. Decided on reconstruction in 2005 (I think) and a re-do last week. My oncologist is out of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, GP and PS out of UofM. I took Tamoxifen for one year and Femara for almost 5. I am now 6 years out.
Nice to meet you all!

Michigan bc.org friends and families are walking together for their fourth year with Team Wings of Hope at the Detroit Komen Race for the Cure. We would love to have more join us. We always just miss having the team with the most survivors.
This is how you join Team Wings of Hope:
Select the link below for the main page to sign up: Select the big pink Register Now Button. Be sure to look for "Wings of Hope" team. For the newbies, there is no pressure to fundraise. I know, the 3 day scares too many people away for that reason. This is $25.00 and we walk 5K (3 miles). If you are not up to walking, you can arrange to take the trolley and even get trolley gifts and a bird's eye view of the race. SEI took some of her best pictures when she was in a foot cast and took the trolley.http://www.karmanos.org/detroitraceforthecure/index.asp
Wings of Hope web page :
http://www.active.com/donate/detroitRFTC09/wingsofhopeWe meet after the Race at Hockey Town for lunch. Our team has grown through the years. It started with about a dozen of us survivors and expanded to 48 members two years ago. We had about 35 last year. So, please join us for a fun day for a good cause and be sure to invite your friends and families.
Team registration continues until May 12th. If you want to save postage, I will pick up t-shirts before the Race and we can arrange to meet or I can get the shirts to you Race morning. Please see the Michigan get-togethers topic for updates. -
nancy welcome..I am looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow..I am amazed everyday at how many people go through this and how it brings us together...I am looking forward to the walk and will look at the site thanks
-
Me too!!! See you in a couple of hours! sue

From one Michigander to another.........you girls have a great time today! We always have a great time at our luncheons! Hoping this summer we can do a 'midway' luncheon for more of us to meet!

Hi- another Southeast Michigander here (west of Detroit).
Hope you have a great luncheon today.
I have family in the Midland and Grand Rapids areas. It's possible that I could join you mid-michiganders some time!
Plese join us for the detroit walk if you can.
-
Thanks Gals for a great luncheon at Applebee's in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. It was so nice to connect a face with the posts! HOpe we can continue to keep in touch. Hugs!
-
Thank you jess and sue for the lunch..I have hugs for you both and all the others..It is different for me to meet people in real life that are going through this..I had a small breakdown on the way home for all of us..when you talk on line it is not as real as when you meet in person...I feel for jess and all the girls that have to go through chemo and rad. It was one thing that i prayed and prayed that I would not have to go through and you ladies amaze me with your strength..you go through so much..I am not saying that we don't go through a lot .it is just you ladies go through what we go through and sooo much more..I am soo proud of you all.
-
HI Jessie & Trudi - It was so great to meet both of you at lunch today! Trudi, I echo your sentiments - for you ladies who are going through chemo and rads, I am in awe of your strength. Sometimes I feel guilty for complaining and whining about my discomfort becuase I know there are so many of you that are going through much more difficult time of it than I am. Thanks for being such strong women and such great examples of how awesome women are!!! I look forward to having another mid-Michigan gathering sometime, hopefuly more of you can make it! sue
-
Trudy and Sue---Thank you so much for meeting with me.
Sue--don't every feel guilty for complaining and whining. BC SUCKS!!! No matter what dx; it is scary-life changing and drastically changes our lives.
For sure I will keep in touch with you and I look forward to our next visit. Yesterday's visit was worthwhile and I appreciated your support. We will and ARE Kicking Cancer BUTT!!!!!
-
Hi from another MI friend. I live in Hudson. Roxanne from Coldwater and Deb from Allen you are not far from me.
I plan on doing the Detroit Komen walk on May 30 with our Wings of Hope Team. If anyone from my area is interested in joining us maybe we can set up a car pool.

Hi Midmichigan folk! I haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well.
-
Hey Trudi & Jess - hope you are doing well ... I've had a tough time recovering from my previous fill, and am heading down to Ann Arbor tomorrow for MY LAST ONE!! Woo hoo!! I am so excited -- plus I'll get to meet with the PS to talk about the exchange surgery (timing, implant size, etc). I am ready to put this expansion process behind me. I hope you are both doing well with things ... Little League started for my boys, so our lives have been consumed with practices and games .... this week is going to be crazy with 2 games and one practice. eek!!
Take care - I'm keeping you both in my prayers! And for all you other Michiganders, you too!!
sue
-
Sue:
Good Luck with you meeting with the PS!!!!!
-
Thanks - my last fill went great and so did the PS appt. I am now filled to 650 ccs and my exchange surgery is scheduled for July 14!!!! I am SO excited - doing the happy dance around the house to have a date to get rid of these horrible TEs!!! The PS was very, very happy with the amount of projection I am getting. He's ordering 550, 600, and 650 Allergan Style 20 High Profile implants for me and he'll figure out which ones work best during surgery. So .... the end is in sight. Trudi, how are you doing??!!?? I may have to give you a call if I don't hear back from you soon here on the boards - hope life isn't too crazy for you these days. Take care ya'll - I hope everyone is doing well on this gorgeous sunny spring day. sue
-
Hey ladies...another Michigander here...hang in there with your treatment. I actually started the other group...MI Survivors aka "Wings of Hope"!
It sure would be fun to get together with everyone at the race. It will be here before we know it.
I live in Oxford...and am 5 years out. 41 years of age at dx...baseline mammogram and no history in my family. -
Hi Not-me. I would love to be at the race. I have a conflict with the May 30 schedule, but will be involved in other activities. I'll find out when I have exchange surgery and any other tests next week.....I am six days out from my last chemo tx. Yahoo....!!!but don't like the ses right now.....Soon I will feel better! Hugs to my fellow Michiganders!
-
Jess- congratulations on finishing your chemo !!!!! doin' the happy dance for you.
