Looking for Advice/reassurance

About 1 month ago I started noticing swollen lumpy things right where the breast connects to the abdomen.  I have large, droopy breasts ( I had lost about 100 lbs a few years ago.)  When I went to the doctor and asked about an exam, she referred me to a breast cervical program since I am without insurance.  The appointment with them isn't until the 28th.

About a week or two ago my breasts started swelling and being red and painful at the area of what I consider breast tissue (the area around the nipple - if you were to cup the nipple area it would be the area that fits into the palm of your hand).  Oh yeah.  I am about 10 years post total hyst with oopherectomy. No hormone pills.

So I started reading about this and sounds kinda familiar.  I don't know if the doctor at the medical clinic I go to has a clue about this.  I have medicare part A only from when I was on disability before.  Am in process of having the disability reinstated.  Part B will start sometime in May or so.

So - do I push to go back and have the regular doc do the exam or wait another 13 days?  I know that the answer (from reading is to go now to the doc - regardless of the financial cost.)  This is where the advice and reassurance comes in.

You are all so knowledgable.  And supportive.  When I started reading about this last night and realized it sounds similar, I just started to break down.

Thanks,

Linda

Go now. I think if I wouldn't have listened to my OB, and didn't wait 2 more weeks to be seen......I might just not be where I am now. Plz get to see the doctor now. This is a very aggressive BC, and can spread VERY quickly. Good luck, and I am praying that it's nothing...plz let us know.

    Hugs & Hope!

    Linda,

I have so many regrets that I didn't seek treatment sooner.  I buried my head in the sand, and wished that my symptoms would just go away.  Because of this, by the time I was finally diagnosed I had cancer all throughout my body.  It is good that you are being proactive, and not wasting time.  Of course we will hope that it isn't cancer, but if it is IBC, the sooner you get treatment, the better.  Please let us know how your appointment goes!  Good luck!
