Vaginal Discharge and Running
Hello all,
Last month I started to run (I'm 4 mos post chemo and still menopausal), training for a big run in May. Suddenly, last week, I started to have abundant clear and odorless discharge. It soaks my pants -- and happens especially in the morning when I get up or if I've been driving for a long time.
Any ideas on why this is happening? Just normal after getting things jumping around again or what?

tamox can cause vaginal discharge.
-
MamaShift, I have to say I have not experienced that problem, and I've been running right along. I've been on Tamox for 14 months.

I decided against Tamox. Thanks for answering, though, you two. It stopped for now. I think I was shaking things up, like I said.

Bomber410 I have been trying to connect other runners who have had mast.Have you had reconstruction of any kind, if so, what. I am looking at having DIEP done this June. I had my left breast removed . Planning on having my right removed then reconstruction on both sides. I am an avid runner, road biker and downhill skier. Was looking at the tram flap. but don't want to lose my core muscles. Anybody had either of these surgeries? Would like to hear both pros and cons.

No I did not opt for a masectomy. It was not warranted. I have a shorter boob. Wish I could help.

maybe not a replay but a question - I am a runner as well and just went thru 2nd surgery to clear margins after lumpectomy and will be starting chemo in about a month - wanted to know if I will be able to continue running during chemo or am I being overly optimistic in thinking I will

You will be able to continue running all through chemo. That is, until your body just won't let you run. Then you'll walk. And then as you come out of this trough/ditch, you'll work running back into your walk. Then you'll be running again.
I did the hike/road race up Mt. Washington NH after 2nd chemo. I did the Breast Cancer 3 Day 60 mile walk at a very fast walking pace after treatment 5. Just a couple examples.
For your own sake, try to stay as normal as you can. Recognize you will slow down. Know that you will be back. But rest when you body says rest.

thank you for the encouraging words - I started running 2 years ago and it has since become a huge part of my life that I don't want to give up. I realize that so much is and has already changed. I feel lately like I am giving up so much more than I am getting if that makes any sense but did/do not want to have to give running up to
