mx stitches and surgery
Hi ladies, i am a little worried about the way my breast looks after mx surgery, it dosnt look like my daughters did and not like the photos i looked at on line either, it has only been 8 days since surgery, i really love my surgeron and really trust her but i think maybe there might be somthing wrong and needed to know if this is normal and if any one else is or has had this problem and can offer me some assurance, the stiches go from the middle of my chest and straight across where my nipple was all the way to past my drainage tube they are large stitches and is sunk in all way across really red and swollen it with bubbles like popping out, i called my dr office today, she was in surgery but nurse said she would call me in some more antibiotics and i will see her wed, i dont mean to scare any one who hasnt had this surgery before, like i said my daughters didnt look bad and from what i read on most of these threads no one has really said to much about how they looked after surgery, any help would be appreacited

Debbie - I am 12 days post op and yours sounds a lot like mine. I don't have actual stitches. It is closed with something else. Sorry I don't know what, but no staples or sutures. Mine is not red, but other than that the incision sounds very similar to yours. Goes from the middle of my chest, straight across where my nipple was also, and then past where the drain was. I got my drain removed yesterday. There is an area that is sunken in and a couple of different areas with swelling and some that looked like bubbles. It gets better every day though and it's only been in the last few days that I started to see improvement in the scar area, so hopefully you will too. I had my followup yesterday and the NP said everything looked great and it was healing nicely. Give it a few days. Continue to rest up and hopefully you will see an improvement soon.
gentle (((hugs))) since we are both still healing!

Hi Ladies,
I just had a double mx on the 23rd of March and my Dr. used dissolving sutures and the surgical glue...at first I was swollen but no bubbles. But it did look weird and now it seem like I am deflating like a tire with a slow leak LOL. I do have the scar across the middle where my nipples were. My Dr. said if my incisions were a little sore I could put an Ace bandage around the area or even use a warm/ice pack to help with the discomfort. I hope this can help you a little.

I went to the bs today and she said i have a hematoma, that is why it was so red,she said she was surprized how it looked, and she didnt take out the dreased drain (ugggh) i wont see her till next week by then i will of had the drains in almost 22 days, going on 11 now, at least she is being causious (sp) my stictches arent the dissolving kind so i have to wait to have those taken out as well, she did add more surtures, at least i know what it is and iam going to be fine, iam happy every one got there drains out that had surgery around the same time as me, i know you must be feeling a little glad about that, i will do the drain dance right then and there (LOL)
