Taxol & Avastin - SE's HELP
Had my first tx of Taxol and Avastin yesterday April 2 for liver mets. Please help me with what to expect from the SE's. Right now my stomach hurts so badly. I am in tears and wondering if I should go to the ER. Help!!! what should I take?

Vondie, You should definitely go if you're feeling like that. I've had two of those treatments now and have not had ANY stomach pain... So you should go. Do they give you tagamet with your pre-meds? They do with me.
Otherwise, for me, it has not been bad. The Taxol only weeks (well, I've had one) are a breeze... mostly otherwise the Taxol yuk taste with some foods and fatigue after the double-whammy Taxol/Avastin doses...
Let us know how you're doing

I had my third taxol & avastin treatment with no side effects....I hoping your side effects go away!

Hello ladies
Had my second tx today of just taxol and so far I am doing good. Hope it continues. Just ate some soup because I am afraid to eat anything too solid at this stage because I don't know what to expect. I hope you all continue to keep away all SE's. Does anyone knows how soon you start to lose your hair with Taxol?
Hugs and Love

Vondie, I was told if you are to lose your hair, you will notice after the third treatment. I am no expert. Mine is thinning after 3rd, but not out. Maryiz

I finished my third treatment last Thursday (the Taxol/Avastin). Hair started coming out a strand or three at a time this weekend and I"m now in a wig.... Boooo! But mine, when it starts coming out, it doesn't waste any time.Glad to hear your Taxol day went OK, Vondie. What was the stomach thing about? Do they think it was related to your treatment or an unfortunate coincidence?Take care, girls,Paula

Hi girls, I finished dose dense A/C last Oct. and then 12 weekly Taxol on 1/15/09. I'm in an Avastin clinical trial and have been getting that since last Aug. I still am on Avastin through July. My hair fell out with the A/C. It started growing back while I was on Taxol in Dec. My onc said your hair will grow back while on Taxol. Although I lost all eyebrows/eyelashes from the Taxol, late in the treatment. But those are back now too!
I did have some side effects while on Taxol, different from the AC...but we are all different in our se's...rapid heart beat (ended up on Atenolol during the remainder of Taxol), anemia (back to normal after Taxol), numbness in fingers, toes (developed that with the last two Taxol), taste changes, nasal issues. These were the main ones. Hope the info helps.
My onc did say that the weekly doses are easier on you.
Also curious Vondie, how is your tummy?
Hugs, kari

Vondie,
I had the abd cramping after my treatment too. All I could do was lie in bed and pray that it passed. It usually does after a few hours. Tylenol or ib didn't help. I'm thinking of getting a rx for something stronger when it hits again. Some days have been more severe than others. I would go to emergency they can give you something strong. Hope this helps. Also I am 4 months into treatment and I am wearing wigs. I am not completely bald but too bald to go without a wig. I have a little more than peach fuzz.

well, I have had 3 taxol treatments - once weekly and my hair really started coming out this past week. I have probably lost more than half. I do know everyone is different. I bought a wig, but am not quite ready to shave my head or wear the wig because I still have enough hair to pull up and look halfway decent. Good Luck to you!

Hi there curious if you ever lost all your hair after third treatment....i have a lot of hair and probably 1/4 of it now after third treatment. I know its been a little while for you...just curious. i would keep going or just get a wig and shave it off. I dont need to keep seeing hair come out!! Thanks!
