Hi Joyce
I noticed your April 1st posting and it said you, "had a bilateral mast on May 23th". Do you mean you are going to have it on May 23? If so will you be having more chemo following surgery?
I had 3 TC before my mast, then following, 2 more treatments. I got sicker and sicker after each treatment. Twenty-four hours after my 4th treatment and a few hours after my shot of Nulasta, I was in the ER. I was not given the Nuelasta after my last treatment. It's been over a year since I completed my chemo and I am just starting to get nails again. That was one of the worst surprises. I had no idea I would lose my nails - horror - no hair, no eyebrows, no eyelashes and then no fingernails. I only pray the extra chemo prevents the TN from returning.
I did discover a new lump around Christmas time and had it remove ASAP. I was finally returning to work at the start of the year and wanted to be cancer free.. Thank the Lord it was B9!
I am a little scared now as I've been having a lot of pain in the rib located in the exact area as the first tumor. I don't see my Onc until May, but do see my PS next week. I am hoping he says it's just pain from the implants.

opps, typo I was typing Mar not May. I completed my chemo before surgery. I didn't lose any nails but have bitten them down low. I need to stop that.
My staples were removed yesterday and I was surprised there was no pain. The doctor explained that the staples are in the numb tissue. Worry over nothing.
I am hoping that the bi-mast will stop the spread of TN. Time will tell.

Hello,
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 trip neg in August with a 6cm tumor, I did 4 rounds of dose dense biweekly AC chemotherapy. The chemo went very well. For me the neoadjuvant therapy did as it was supposed to and shrunk the tumor to less than half its original size, as well as stopped existing node involvement. I then had a bilateral mastectomy in December. They did take 23 nodes but they all came back negative - which is what the surgeon and oncologist wanted ot happen... woohoo. Adjuvant chemo started 12/20/08 4 rounds taxotere at 3 week intervals. I started my radiation therapy yesterday and have 30 rounds of this to come. I hope it goes well for your friend.

I also found hats to be scratchy, and scarves slid down my bald head. I wore wigs and got lots of compliments from people who did not know I had cancer. (They looked lots better than my real hair.)
We all approach this differently, but being bald does make you feel even sicker. Still, when my hair returned, it was curly for about a year, which was fun.
I am about at my three-year anniversary (two weeks to go), and chemo is not really that bad a memory because of all the friends and family who rallied around me. I felt truly cherished.
And I love the fact that, so far, it has worked. No problems.
I just added a post to my blog about my adventures through chemo, plus some tips on coping-at http://hormonenegative.blogspot.com/
Best of luck to all who are going through this adventure. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Triple Negative is breast cancer that is hormone receptor negative (ER- & PR-) & Her2-.
Neoadjuvant chemo is chemo BEFORE surgery(mastectomy / lumpectomy)
