I Feel Like Bill Murray in Groundhog's Day!

Sorry, I am trying to keep my warped sense of humor through all of this, because I know I will need it.

Actually, this day was nothing to smile about.  This morning I received the results of my biopsy (I posted up in the Waiting For Test Results forum while waiting for the results).  I have breast cancer for the second time.

I had a lumpectomy for DCIS, sentinel node biopsy and radiation 6 years ago.  During my routine mammogram last week a new lump was found, and I had an ultrasound and biopsy the same day.  The only good news, if you ever really want to call it that, is that this cancer is in the other breast, appears to be a "new" cancer, and is slow-growing, low grade lump about .7 so really tiny.

I meet with the surgeon who did my last lumpectomy on April 22nd and will know more then what I will be doing and my options.  I will also be seeing a medical genetics specialist.

I am just crushed that I am on this horse again, but I think I am less scared than the first time because I know what to expect as far as procedures, etc.  Now BC is at the forefront of my life again.  Who the hell asks for that?

Thanks for posting all of your stories.....it really is helpful!

Sapphire Sky, I have only been dx with bc 1 time but prior to that dx in 2007, I had 2 sterotactic biopsies 18 months apart (Feb 2005, and Aug 2006), once in each breast that showed ADH. When I went into the Sterotactic room for the third time April 2007, I asked the tech and doctor that I was expecting to see Bill Murray walk into the room. That time my results were not pre-cancer but early DCIS. So your sense of humor isn't so warped, we all have a strange sense of humor dealing with this disease. I was ready to get off the rollercoaster ride after that biopsy so I opted for a bilat mast to reduce my risk of developing any other breast cancer. Good luck on your surgeon's appointment next week.

    Sheila
