    I am on herceptin.  Have been having treatments every three weeks since last sept.  My nose has run non stop every day.  I have asked about it and tried all sorts of allergy meds and benedryl and no help.  If you find anything that helps with it let me know.  I just stock up on the vaseline every night, it looks very attractive!

     We had a snow day here (by Denver/Boulder) on Thursday and Friday.  I shut down my office and came home on Thursday.  So great to have a snow day as a grown up!   I think my six year old may regret the snow days though since she will be out of school for another week now.  Hopefully her dad will take her snowboarding one of the days while I am working.

    Sunny today and I am sitting in bed watching the kids try to fix the half melted snowman :)

    Wyoming.. hope you are coping alright with the treatment and are having a restful weekend.

    Jax... nice to come back with some cash.  Sounds like you had a good time.

    Kelly and Bonnie... I don't know anything about taking herceptin except for a senior lady I met during chemo is on it and she says she feels well.  I must say during our chemo, she was on the same as myself she coped alot better than me and never had any problems.. she is just one tough cookie.

    Hunky D.. I have two that are both mixed beagles.  one is mixed with a spitz and the other an american eskimo.  They are both good natured, the only downside is when the mailman passes and they both like to howl.  Actually, they do keep me going out everyday, which is a good thing.

    I wanted to ask if you all get ongoing niggly type pains since the treatments??  I just find that something hurts each day and then goes away.  I feel like a bit of a complainer but I don't know if this is a normal happening.

    Just found out we are in a blizzard warning until 6:00 pm tomorrow. I hope we don't miss another day of school. Had another treatment on Friday. My blood counts were in the normal range but did drop so onc cut one drug in half. So far so good.

    Jax glad you came back with more money than what you went with. I have never done that.

    Kelly and Bonnie I can't help with your Herceptin question because I don't have to have it.

    Karen I get those niggling pains also. If any pain last more than a couple days have it checked out. I think your doc will understand.

    HunkyD good luck Tues at your doc appt. Keep us posted.

    I made the mistake of going horseback riding early in the month for three days and have been so sore in my back ever since.  It is way beyond niggling and I feel like such a whiner too.  I am starting to understand why people with chronic pain are often so unpleasant. It has been unrelenting since the 7th.

    I did email my onc and he will look tomorrow and get some x rays.  After reading a  lot of posts on this site I think it might be a compression fracture.  I hope it isn't from bone mets.  And the joy of cancer continues...   

    PS My husband told my daughter she can have a golden retriever puppy next month.  And he does'nt take care of the dog we have!  Every time it snows, I think "oh no all the poop will get covered up and the kids will step in it while they are sledding"     Kelly

    Kelly, husbands are such help!!!! Hopefully the poop will be frozen if any one steps in it. I hope your back is OK. I hope it is a fracture and not bone mets. It's so sad but in away funny how we wish for something else to be wrong and not cancer. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

    We had a snow say yesterday so now we have 4 days to make up. I'm tired today probably because I haven't worked for so long. I've only been in school 1 day since March 18th, with snow days and testing.

    Hoping you are okay Kelly.  Yes, we did get a second dog a couple of years back.  My hubby and son wanted the second one, I didn't.  Sure enough, I look after the two of them but my hubby scoops the poop in the back.  Before we got it, I had a weak moment, I told him that they had to be walked everyday.  He tried to get out of it after about a month but I freaked out and now we walk them together each day. 

    Wyoming, you sound like you are feeling alright except for the snow.

    HunkyD hope everything went well.

    We have a dog and hybby scoop poops. I wanted a kitten so I made a deal with hubby that I would do litter since he does poop duty. I have  an automatic litter box. What an invention!!!!

    Feeling much better, have a cough so am watching that.

    Kelly, hope your back problems are OK.  Always another something.  I realize this is never going to end.  I spent half of yesterday at onc.  He did a complete diagnostic breast exam and neck exam which I expected.  My blood work was fine other than I am still very anemic and have to go in every week now for B12 shots plus take a daily supplemental pill.  Then he started in with the prophylactic mastectomy talk.  He said it would increase my chances of not having it re-occur in other breast remarkably but that it would do nothing in numbers for my chances of mets which is high.  He wants to to proceed with the mastectomy anyway and scheduled an appt with a plastic surgeon for reconstruction as well.  He said if nothing else it would clear my mind of breast cancer on the other side.  I see my general surgeon tomorrow.  Pretty big surgery when you weigh out the chances of it spreading somewhere else anyway.  What do you guys think????  Your imput is important because you all really understand.  Oh well, enough about me...I will have plenty of time to complain to you guys if I decide to have surgery in a month.  He did refill my lovely script for Ativan.  Bless his heart.  Wyoming...glad you got some time off although I know you have to make those snow days up.  Glad your trt went ok.  Hope your cough mellows out too and you can keep your blood counts up.  I hope all the rest of you ladies are OK.  Sorry for the long ramble...HunkyD  P.S.  We have wind strong enough here lately to almost blow frozen dog poo off our property.  Smile

    Well it snowed again today.  Another layer of poop and snow for the yard.  Ha ha

    I did go in yesterday.  I had some back x rays.  They showed three areas of "compression of the vertebrae"  my onc had gone home sick so it was some other guy, very young too, I felt ancient.  Anyway I have to go back for an MRI tomorrow.  I have still been woking so it could be worse...  I could be home picking on my teenagers all day.  Oops I meant cleaning, doing laundry, cooking dinner, paying bills, and reminding my teenagers that they had a five minute chore to do.  I guess it is all in the perspective?    :)

    We had sunshine so my poop is slowly becoming more visible. Supposed to have more snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm ready for Spring!!!!!!!!!!!

    HunkyD what a decision! How long would you be laid up with surgery? I would be nice to know that recurrence in the other breast is reduced. We will always have the fear of mets. I probably would have the surgery for one less worry.

    Wyoming...you really made me giggle today.  No other post probably in the history of Breastcancer.org has ever opened with the following sentence.....We had sunshine so my poop is slowly becoming more visible.  I must say it struck me as funny.  You and Kelly are on a dog poop roll!  It is raining here pretty good so I am hoping some of the poop out in our yard will become totally soluble.  I am also ready for Spring.  I think we have a ways to go though.  One more day of work and looking forward to the weekend.  Take care all of ya.....HunkyD

    Today we managed to clean up the backyard.  It is getting windy and the snow is on the way but for now I will quit talking about poop so much :)  At least the dogs...

    I did get the results from the x rays and MRI and my back is fractured in three places but no evidence that cancer is the cause so who hoo.  I don't know if I am just used to it now or what but it is not stopping me from doing anything as long as I come home and rest with a heating pad.   It sounds like there is really no treatment anyway or at least the nurse that called didn't mention any.  Maybe I will look in to seeing a chiropractor.

    I am so happy I have all weekend off. My daughter was invited to a birthday tea party sunday so we are going out to look for an easter bonnet tomorrow.  She thinks she wants one but I bet it will end up in the dress up box so I am going to check the kids consignment shops.  I will try put up a new picture with my hair and her bonnet if we find one.  Now if only I could quit singing the "put on your easter bonnet with all the frills upon it" song.     Kelly

    Kelly... that is good that it isn't cancer... I woohoo with you.   Do you think the horseback riding could have caused it??   Funny,  my mother use to always buy an easter bonnet when I was young... enjoy that.

    HunkyD... I don't know if you want to go through all of that but if it will reduce the recurrance of this beast then maybe you should.  I sit and wonder if I should have done more than I have and I guess I will know that more when I see the onc in May.   I met a girl that had both removed and has done the reconstruction with the implants and she is doing very well.  I met her while undergoing chemo and she didn't know if the cancer was in both at the time but she chose to do this.

    Wyoming.... we have no snow now so our backyard is a mess of poop....like I said... I don't have to scoop the poop......   thank God.

    Kelly....good news.  Hope you get your pain under control.  I know you work hard.  KKing....I am with you about scooping the poop.  I almost gag when I do it.  Especially when its hot.  YUK!  I don't have any little ones to hide eastereggs outside for, but for those of you that do, you might want to get the scooper out.  I am just trying not to think much about the surgery thing.  I will know more after the PS appt at the end of the month.  Breast Surgeon was all for it too. 

    Wyoming....hope you are catching up on your lost school days.  Only a couple more months to go and you get vacation.  Jax....I bought a pair of shoes online that were really spendy.  I got the box yesterday and was able to shred the invoice.  Husband was at work.  I felt pretty pleased with myself.  I needed the retail therapy.  Well...my big day is working on a kitchen cupboard door that wont shut all the way.  I have tinkered around with the mounting screws several times and still cant get it to stay shut.  Husband is out helping my son.  I think I will just take it off completely and leave it on the floor and then he will have to fix it when he gets home.  Drives me insane....later...HunkyD

    I'm on Spring break this week. I have my granddaughter until Sat. My daughter and son-in-law went to Jamaica for a delayed honeymoon.  I get my grandson Wed as my other daughter and son-in-law went to Vegas. This is the best Spring break I could get. Hubby and I are going to dye easter-eggs with both. Should be a big mess but what fun. We had another blizzard this weekend so poop is covered again.

    I lightened my hair. Don't know if it looks better but sure is a change. I think next time I will let the professionals do it.

    HunkyD I'm insane with you. My hubby sure can get everything fixed up in the garage but in the house he has to trip over it. Most of the time I try and do it myself and if he complains then I tell him I couldn't take it anymore. But most of the time I guess he does OK

    How is everyone?  Wyoming...that is great you get the grandkids.  I know you are having a blast with them.  Color an egg for me!  It is raining cats and dogs here, or as people in the west would say..."rainin' harder than a cow pissing on a flat rock"!  I was drenched walking in from the parking lot to the hospital to get my shot today.  Not a pretty sight.  I am home and dry now and hoping it stops.  The wind is blowing too of course.  Just to let you know...my cupboard door is fixed.  I didn't take it completely off but left the screwdriver on the floor.  He grumbled when he came in and my eyes watered up.  I just can't hardly yell at him much anymore because he really has been a trooper through all of this.  Anyway...boring story but just goes to show how your emotions are so strong after dealing with all of this.  I want to go in for a hair color too but am waiting for at least the end of the month.  There is some of that crappy hair on the ends that I know need to be trimmed off, but my hair is still so short I can't stand the thought of a trim yet.  Maybe it will take off growing this month.  Kelly, how is your back?  Hope you are getting some sort of pain relief.  KKing....how are you doing?  Rover...thinking about ya.  Hope you are doing OK.  Bonnie, Choc, Jax?

    Just had to write a message back, it was so nice to hear from you HunkyD and to have your name mentioned just means so much sometimes and this was one of them. Was feeling kind of down in the dumps for no reason that I know of, just one of those days.Thought I would go on here and see if there was anything new and your message just did it - sounds silly I know but that is the way it is.

    Not much happening right now which is good just going for my Herceptin every 3 weeks and my Muga Scan every 3 months.  Still throwing the idea around whether I want to get reconstruction or not. I hear the Dr. here takes tissue and fat from your stomach to make the boob. I don't know which I like the idea of the most having another boob or loosing some fat off of my stomach lol.

    I am 65 and a lot of people say why bother at this age, but I don't feel 65 and I really miss not being normal having 1 removed is real crappy you are so lopsided and I am having nothing but trouble with  the bra and prosthesis, it hits right across the scar and makes it really sore. When I am at home I don't wear a bra but when I have to go anywhere I do and then It gets all sore again, I think I have tried everything I know of and nothing seems to help.

    Enough about me I hope everyone is doing OK - Wyoming, Choc. Jax and you to HunkyD and everyone I missed.

    Hey Junies.......glad you haven't forgotten about me.........not much new going on......I wish I could report that my seroma issues and leakage have stopped.......but this is not the case.........still leaking and wearing nursing pads.....but no snuggly baby.....grrr........just finished yet another course of antibiotics to keep infection away......no redness so I will keep my fingers crossed that this continues........

    My son turned 9 yesterday.....so that is exciting......having the family over on Friday for a party and then his friend party next Friday.......easter dinner on Sunday.......and that is all for me.

    I think of you all often.......and love to read your post.......keep posting!

    Bonnie....glad you posted.  I understand your issues with the single breast totally.  Same exact feelings for me.  I am scheduled in 3 weeks to see a PS and am pretty nervous.  My gut feeling is to take the other one off and go for the reconstruction.  I am just going to play it by ear for now.  Surgeon and onc say yes for the prophylactic mastectomy so hopefully insurance will go along with recon.  It will be a big surgery again and I will miss alot more work, but I guess I will go with the flow. Jax...glad to hear from you too.  Sorry about your continuing battle with the seroma.  What a pain.  Maybe it will just shut itself off.  Good news is that there is no infection.  Hope you have a great time with family for the BD party.  9 years old.  You almost have yourself a teenager girl.  I have no plans for easter.  Good evening all....HunkyD

    Wow spring really sprung!  Today I had a big break in the middle of my work day so I ran home to do laundry and try get organized before we drive to Utah for Easter tomorrow and as I rushed out to put some bills in the mailbox I noticed all my tulips are finally open.  Some daffodils were open before the snow and now there is a whole new crop.  I just love that spring color and would have missed it if it were not for the break today. 

    My back is iffy but I think a little bit better.  As far as I can tell it is just time that makes it better.  It gets sore after a long day but I have enough off time that its not so bad. I try not to bend or twist much.   Just like everything else... it could be worse!!  :)  Tomorrow my husband is going to drive and I will sit in the back with my daughter so I can lie back part of the time.  My son is thrilled, at 6' 3" he is much happier in the front seat.  

    Have a great weekend everyone, I have to go pack our easter egg dye since you all reminded me of it.   Kelly

    Sounds like everyone is having pretty good news. I also found out yesterday that my spots on my lungs are shrinking. So new treatment is working, YEAH!!!!!! I have had a blast with the grandkids Went to my sisters today for easter. Had a good visit with all the family.

    Jax I'm going to ask a dumb question; what is seroma?

    I can't help anyone with breast issues as I still have both of mine. If it would help I would give you some of mine as I do have enough for a couple of people.

    HunkyD, Hubby and I colored eggs with grandkids and they had fun but not as much as we did laughing at them. Kody threw the first one I let him touch, we laughed so he did too. We colored two dozen. So I had enough for all of you an egg.

    I dyed my hair at home, doesn't look too bad. I need the ends trimmed but I'm like you HunkyD I don't want to cut any hair yet. I'm savoring every lasts hair.

    Everyone have a Happy Easter, Eat a lot of food and candy!!!

    Nice to read all the posts today.   Hope things clear up for you Jax.   Bonnie, we are all here always whenever you want to drop in.  Wyoming.  I do miss that time that I had with my kids... colouring eggs and hiding them. Seems a long time ago.    HunkyD.. sound like me, nothing going on for Easter.. still bought some chocolate for my big kids and of course Hubby.

    Nothing new for me, going back  to see the Naturpath doctor Wednesday and anticipating my checkup with the onc in May.  

    I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter and enjoy the time with your families.

    Just wanted to say Happy Easter to all....and so happy Wyoming that your are getting good results from your treatments.  That is what I like to hear.  Husband is cooking for me tonight.  I am going to have to finish a bottle of wine I accidently opened last night.  DARN!  I made cookies yesterday and we have chocolate too, so all is in order.  I am thinking about all of you.  May you all have a wonderful evening.  HunkyD

    I hope easter was good for all of you!........I had fun with the kids......hiding eggs......and then we went to the movies in the afternoon......before easter dinner with all the grands.......which was actually our first BBQ of the year so all went well.......until I went to change my pad before bed only to realize that there is another small opening in my scar line that has also started to drain the dreaded seroma........seroma is a sterile fluid that the body produces to fill empty spaces......I keep thinking......it has to be getting better soon.......but to see it getting worse is very disheartening.

    Wyoming.....glad to hear that your treatments are working........woo hooo!

    HunkyD those darn bottles of wine sure do have a way of opening and of course you have to drink it before it goes bad. HAHAHA!!!!!

    Sounds like everyone had a good Easter. Sorry to hear about the seroma. Too bad you can't put a plug in it!

    First day back to work in a week and boy am I tired. My students were tired today also. We all have to get into the swing of things.

    I had plenty of chocolate and candy for those you who did not get any. It was really really good.

    Wyoming...glad to hear you are hard back at work.  I'll bet you were dragging.  My day was long after finishing my wine last night.  Grrr...and I had hair appt after work and actually got it highlighted and cut.  The cut made all the difference.  I was afraid, but now I actually have a shape going.  Got rid of all the chemo fuzz that came in first.  Highlights makes it look longer on top too.  It was worth it I guess.  Jax...hope that dang seroma shuts down.  I don't really know about them either.  I am certain your PS is keeping close tabs on you.  Keeping my fingers crossed for ya. Glad everyone had a good weekend.  HunkyD

    OK who took Mr. Sandman? I go to sleep for about 20 minutes then I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I hate taking Atavan (sp). I take 1/2 to help me get back to sleep. I can't believe a person can be so tired and not sleep.
    I'm thinking about having my hair trimmed to take off the chemo fuzz and shape it up too. I was afraid it was too short but if you can do it HunkyD I can too.

    Jax how is your seroma? I hope it is under control.

    Karen how did you appointment go with your Naturpath?

    Kelly did you dye your easter eggs? How is your back?

    Maybe that's the answer for my hair... a trim... it just seems so unruly (glad I have this problem actually) I never thought about the chemo fuzz.  

    Hunky D.. sounds like you enjoyed your wine...except for the next day.  I am away this weekend to a cottage with some friends so I can see I will be indulging with the wine.. can't wait.

    Wyoming.. maybe a little wine would help put you to sleep?? lol...  the naturpath was good.  I have problems with constipation so I am going to take a probiotic for digestion, she said daily I should do a loofah dry scrub of my skin....helps the lymphatic system work.  She talked about castor oil packs on the abdomen.  It will help get digestion moving,  clean out the liver and I had been told I have a fibroid in the uterus.. so it should break it up.   I didn't realize castor oil packs are a very old therapy.  I was reading that Edgar Cayce..my mom use to read his books... recommends it as long as there are no abdominal tumours or anything.   She has me eating Quinoa as a substitute for protein and some hemp seeds.  I find she gets me in a mindset to eat properly... she does give me s*#t for the things I am not doing but I need a bit of that too.

    Jax... hoping things are turning around for you.  Kelly... how was your easter??

    Wyoming...Mr. Sandman isn't at my house.  I love the ativan for sleep aid but try not to take it all the time.  I did get a refill.  Your hair is the same stage as mine.  Mine seems real thick and I like the highlights.  Gives me a little "funk".....

    KKing...I find all that stuff with your naturpath very interesting.  Never in my life heard of a caster oil pack.  Googled it and sure enough they tell you how to do the Edgar Cayce method.  I have heard of drinking it to induce labor....trust me...that doesn't work.  It will induce movement in another sense however!!!!  The pack and heating pad seems like a pain in the you know what to me!!!!  The hemp seeds...wow.  Never heard of that either.  You will have to keep us posted.   Wine....yes...it will aid in sleep depending on the amount you consume.  If I get constipated...I still find myself taking a senekot-s now and then.  Those do work for me.  I use the loofah scrub but mostly attack my legs in the shower.  You do it dry?  OK...enough chattering from me....Tomorrow is Friday and we are supposed to have temps this weekend in the high 60's.  Yea!!!!!  HunkyD

    Hello everyone.  I love it when we all seem to be dealing with some of the same issues.  I also had a haircut this weekend.  I still find I get cold a lot so I wear a scarf most days but now can try to shape my hair a bit.  My friend cut it and gave me hair paste to use.  Who knew there was such a thing? 

    We went to Utah to visit my sister and we did dye eggs there.  We had several egg hunts and lots of fun. Then we came home and picked up the new puppy, Song.  She is very very cute but makes me happy we no longer have babies to care for. It is so much work.  I took a sleeping pill but my husband was up every three hours with her.  :)  Snow tomorrow here in Colorado and I am happy I have the day off and no dr appts!!    Kelly
