Alyad--I'm actually in the February Furies thread, but I see you're in Springfield and wanted to say, "Hi." My bonnet was itching one day after work and I took it off on my way home...drove bald down S. Campbell--no reactions. Went into Dilllon's on Battlefield--no one flinched. Then I decided to stop by Pizza Inn and when I went to pay my bill, someone had already taken care of it! You are right, though, it's too cold right now. Take care--Helen
PS I love the cat pictures.
-
This is my 15 month old baby. He still wants to lay in my lap every night.
-
OMG too cute Deb, I love it. My Duncan will NOT pose for a picture just yet. I need to get someone to take a picture of us together I imagine. He is a terrier and has several phobias.....cameras, fireworks, loud noises, you name it.
Hope everyone has a good night tonight.
Diane
-
NY Deb- my you have a lap horse! he'll keep you warm! I love all the pet pics! I like your signature too- dancing in the rain indeed!
-
Hope everyone had a great se free Easter and Passover. To the atheists, agnostics and those in between I hope you had a warm se free day also. It was cold here in PA - certainly didn't feel like a spring day and I just heard it's going to be below freezing in the morning. I am so ready to be outside soaking up the vitamin D and working in my garden. Maybe playing in the dirt will make me feel better. EWWW wait - are we allowed to play in dirt while doing chemo? UGH that would be a bummer. I guess it's okay with gloves even though that's not the way I prefer it.
I love all the animal pics - I will get my brood togther and get one posted.
luv2sing - you look awesome with or with the hair. And wishing you an early Happy Birthday just in case I have Chemo brain.
Well I'm going to try to catch up on posts and then off to bed, Tx # 3 is tomorrow. I still can't believe how nervous I was for the first one.
Sleep well and dream happy dreams..................
-
Monday morning is my 3rd TC and I'm stressing. I had a nasty reaction with the last one and am not looking forward to the next. I'm going to ask the nurses it I can have some of the Benadryl that they give me last time. I was so stressed Sunday morning. I was work and just started to cry. I couldn't take it anymore. I usually don't cry but I needed to let out some of the tension. I can't wait until the chemo is over. I hate the beginning, middle and end of the whole process.
My gosh, I'm having a major hot flash right now. So glad summer isn't here yet...lol. I might have to live in my basement this summer. -
Hi All,
I am up here at 1:45 after taking my decatron in prep for tomorrows chemo. I also took a bendryl and some ala...to relax me. But still no sleep.
Luv2sing...Great pictures-- Happy Birthday to you. WE are both Aries..My birthday is next Sunday..
I have a confession no one ever said my hair was my best part of me .It was always fizzy no matter what I tried. My friends all say that I never looked so good.My color is just great , hair is shiny and always is a good hair day. So maybe this wig stuff is not that bad.
NYDeb..Wow that is a real cute puppy.
Laurie and Michelle..I guess we are all chemo twins..Michelle are you also on TC.Lets hope the SE's are tolerable.
Laurie- Where in Minnesota are you from? My son lives in Minneapolis?
The board seems quiet..That is great.
Hugs to all,
Keep the pets coming...
Francine
Must try to go to sleep. Almost 2am.Alarm is set for 7:30..
-
I think the chemo is frying my brain...LOL how do you put pictures on here.

Good Luck to all having Chemo today, may your SE be few!!! The dog pics are adorable, I have a little rat terrier he is as big as some of the heads, Have a Great DayAll!!! Dawn
-
Laurie- I had the Taxotere reaction also on my 2nd TX. They said they would do all the benadryl, etc. first thing next round. I'm sure that's the plan for you also. Just think, you're almost 3/4 done ..........yehaaaaa!
-
maidmarion - What kind of dog is Jett ? He's so sleek looking. Does he get along with the cats?
-
Morning all!
I missed the boards all weekend - looks like they were pretty active! I am glad everything got settled down.
I love all the pet pics! Deb your bloodhound is adorable! I will have to post pics of my furkids next time I am on the laptop.
I think I bounced back from #3 much faster than from 2, and all have been easier than #1. Other than some mild diarrhea and inability to eat anything spicier than ketchup (and even ketchup feels spicy) I have been feeling pretty good! I redid all of my front garden beds this weekend and mulched everything, and I think all that physical activity really helps. I took yesterday off as a day of rest, and plan to enjoy the next week and 4 days til the next treatment. I hope #4 goes as well, I hear that is when the Se's start to be cumulative and the fatigue really sets in. I won't believe that til it happens!
MichelleinSJ glad to see you back! How is the top of your head doing? I had a mild breakout up there too, and took a wig vacation. It seemed to clear up in about 2-3 days and has been fine since.
Pickle - I love your avatar pic with the hat & 1/2 wig! You look so cute. I got a 1/2 wig too, but it is too long and does a Carol Brady flip. That style looked terrible on the Brady Bunch, I don't really want it for myself! lol
I accidentally went out to meet my landscaping guy Saturday morning completely bald and without a stitch of makeup! I forgot that I wasn't wearing anything on my head, and when he rang the doorbell..... out I walked! I realized about an hour later and was mortified! I thought he was looking at me funny, but didn't put it together. Oh well, we have to laugh at ourselves!
Hot flashes- if you can believe it, it was 99 degrees here already last Thursday. I have been dying and getting hot flashes many times a day. They really stink! I don't know what I am going to do as we keep creeping up to summer weather. Anyone in a cold climate like to change places with me for awhile?!?!?
Ok, I am talking too long here. Everyone have a great day, and best of luck to all of you having treatments today! <<<<Good vibes!>>>>

Kim40: Good luck with # 3 tomorrow. What tx are you having? I see you are from Halifax. I am originally from Dartmouth but I have been living in Alberta for 15 years. Most of my relatives are still in the Halifax/Dartmouth area. What area do you live in? I am hoping to visit family in August.
Gina and MOB: Hope all is well with you both
Best wishes and hugs to all the wonderful ladies are having tx today.
Silly thought of the day: How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Have a marvellous Monday!
Beth P
PS Love all the animal pics and would love to add some but I still don't know how to post any. I don't have photo Bucket or anything like that.

Hi Beth!
I live in Lower Sackville. I am a trans-planted Newfie. I've been living here now for 22 years and I love it. I'm glad I live here as I am from small town in Newfoundland and would have to travel every three weeks for treatment. With the cancer center in Halifax, I can sleep in my own bed everynight. Let me know when you are coming down this way - it would be great to meet you and swap stories!
I taking FEC-T. #3 of the FEC tomorrow and then I move on to Tax and Herciptin.
Ladies - have a look at this link - it is from our local newspaper here in Halifax. A cure for this disease is around the corner. Trials are starting next year - I'm hoping to sign up!
-
Kim40: I lived in Lower Sackville just before we moved to Alberta. We lived on Jackladder Drive in Millwoods. I have many relatives in Sackville as well.My kids started school at the elementary school in Milwoods and my niece and nephew went to Sackvile High. How old are your kids? I have been to Newfoundland and it is so beautiful there. What small town are you from? I have relatives in St Georges (by Stephenville).
The link for the Halifax Herald article is great. Dalhousie University is a leader in the medical field. Well recognized medical scholl and reaserch team. The team is already doing clinical trials in the U.S. I'll be looking forward to further updates on this for sure.
Thanks
Beth P

Kim40:The link from The Halifax Herald is very interesting indeed. Dalhousie University is a leader in the medical field. They have a well recognized Medical school and reserach development team. The team has already started trials in the U.S. I'll be watching for further developments on this story for sure.

Beth
I live right off Cobequid Road - right across the street from the new medical center. I have 3 kids - the oldest is 22 and just graduated from SMU, 19 year old just graduated from Compu College and 13 year old is going to AJ Smeltzer and will be going to Sackville High! Talk about your small world.
I am orginally from Port Aux Basques - so at least when the ferry gets to Newfoundland - I don't have to go much further! I have been to St. Georges a few times as my ex-husband has family in Stephenville so we used to go there for a drive.
It would be great to meet you! We have a lot in common other than our BC!
-
Donna I was thinking the same thing about Tanner. Mine just stole a opend jar of peanut butter off of the counter. It was a job chasing him down for it. I am glad you are on day 5. Its rebound time. Just keep flushing. I think I will bring the laptop with a movie tomorrow. They dont have internet available. Its such a long day. I think I will pack a luch this time. They do have bags of chips. But thats it. Sleep sleep sleep. Let your body heal. Everything else can wait. This will be over soon. Love Lisa (Buddy)
-
buddy - The hardest part about having such a big dog is keeping him from getting at things. He eats any and everything. This fall he ate a pair of panty hose in about 10 seconds before we could catch him. Nothing on a counter is safe, only the top of the frig. When he does get things , it's hard to catch him as he just leap frogs furniture. We use an air horn to make him drop things.
-
Have you gals seen Marley and Me....now there's a dog that chews everything in sight! But what a gorgeous dog.
When one of my dogs was a pup she started chewing the corners of the baseboards. I put some diluted tabasco sauce on the corner of one and she never touched them again. She then got a shoe fetish...lol
-
Kim40 - thanks for sharing the post on the cancer vaccine- it sounds promising and makes perfect sense- seems like it could explain why most of us with BC go on to live long healthy lives and some don't- no one knows why some have a recurrence. I liked the queen of the colony analogy for the stem cells. For most of us- the "queens" get cut out but if one queen (cancer stem cell) got loose and is wandering around... We need that vaccine to kill the queens!
I'm kinda a science geek and find all that stuff fascinating. I wish I could hit fast foward on all the research tho.
-
Hi Gals! I hope this doesn't confuse anyone too much but I really wanted to change my user name...Even though I have a beautiful wig and cute hats...I seem to be living in my bandanas...
So TravelGal is now BandanaGirl.....
Had my Taxol last Thursday, Neulasta on Friday..Felt pretty good yesterday...today I'm dragging...Thinking about my comfy bed upstairs and how I'm looking forward to taking an Ativan and relaxing in my bed until I fall asleep...
It's a chilly, windy day here in Michigan, with rain expected tonight..All I'm thinking about is how relaxing that will be...Anything relaxing sounds very good to me right now.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Passover...Next year we will definitely eat more!
-
BandanaGirl - I went out for brunch yesterday and most have ate 3/4 peoples worth of food. I think I had 4 deserts, 2 creme brulies, 1 cholate decadence and 1 fruit tart slice. What a pig I was!!!
Laurie, Michelle, Francine - Good Luck all who had chemo today and to everyone having it come up soon and anyone I missed.
NYDEB - Love your pictures of your dog. How much does he weigh? I thought my 18 month Golden was big at 82 lbs. I love the idea of the airhorn. I used to walk around banging pans when Cody would steal things he shouldn't have.
Kim40 - What kind of dog is your little guy in the avator - very cute! I always thought Nova Scotia would be a great place to visit in the summer, it looks very picturesque.
I have a red L shaped discoloration on the back of my hand following the vein next to the vein they used for my last chemo treatment. It appeared about a week after chemo and has been here almost a week know. I did call my onco and since I have no fever and it's not hot, doesn't hurt, etc. they said to just keep an eye on it and call back if it get bigger or hurts. Has this happened to anyone else.
