28 years old....Lump in breast.....Strong family history

Hello Everyone

This is my first time posting on this board 

Ok , where to start , my mother was diagnosed at the age of 32 with Plemomorphism Invasive Lobular Carcinoma..She had a full mastectomy and is now a 26 year surviour with no reocurances !!!   Smile

 I have been reading about this type of cancer and it is rare in young women. My mother has just been tested for the BRCA 1 AND 2 gene and we are awaiting results

I found a thickining and small lump in the left breast in January , went for a Mamo early feb  , all was fine !! 

I have since felt more of a thickining in my breast and the lump has grown, it seems as if my breast has grown as well !  I am experiencing a pain and burning sensation in my breast that comes and goes......

I am schedualed in for a ultrasound this week.....and very nervous ....I feel the need to have a Breast MRI done where i am only 28 years old and HIGH RISK !!! 

Scared and looking for some other women to talk to about this !  Frown

    It is very scary, and we are sorry you have to join us here.  My recommendation would be to get a biopsy for sure.  Then you will know what to do.  You are pretty young, and remember 80% of biopsies are benign, and the odds are in your favor!  That is great news about your mom!  You  could very well have just a cyst, but get it checked.  You are in the most nerve wracking part right now,  we wish you the best.  Tami

    I think the fact that you're having the ultra sound should let you feel a little better. The Ultra Sound is a great screening device to use on young dense breast tissue. It will be hard to get an MRI paid for by insurance without first doing the ultra sound. If something shows on the Ultra Sound, they will either recommend a biopsy, or you can push hard for an MRI just to rule everything out.

    I'm glad you're mom kicked cancers butt so long ago! I'm nearing my 5 year date-- and that felt like a lot....LOL

    Let us know after you have the U/S done.
