Getting some zzzzzzzzzz???
What does everyone take or do to help with you getting to sleep?
I use to be able to just read for a half and hour and turn my brain off my day and do just fine, or take a long bath. This was also a sign that I needed more exercise. Than I started taking Melatoin after my diagnoses. And that helped for awhile. As my pain increased I started taking pain meds and Amitriptylin and this has helped me for along time. I would stop using them for months and than I would be back in treatment again and start using them again. Now they don't do so well. I sure this is just from using them for two years on and off.
I know some of us are in treatment and having to use drugs that are also for anxiety or depression that also help you sleep. The steroids they give you for pre-treatment makes me hyper for days and I can't sleep. I did find if I took something for restless leg that would help me a lot. Pay attention for those of you in treatment how restless your legs are. Alot of the time all I had to do is just take Lyrica for restless legs and not need anything else.
I know a big problems is I can't get enough exercises to get my body to ran off this nervous energy. I purchased a recumbent stationary bike and love it. This does help except my neuropathy is worse and I if do to much my legs hurt like a toothache.
Any body have some ideas?

I've used valerian root with good results. I even had an extra bonus of lower blood pressure. Yet, it didn't seem to continue working.
Another thing to try is 5-HTP, hydroxytryptophan. It's an amino acid. I read about it in a book by Dr Gabriel Cousens. At the time the book was written, plain ol tryptophan was not available as a supplement, but in my many trips to the vitamin shoppe this year I noticed that it too is available in supplement form. I read somewhere else that the 5HTP is as good if not better for a good night's sleep. I think that author was the woman who beat bipolar without prescriptions (don't recall the book's name or author on that one). 5HTP is contraindicated if you're taking antidepressants or MAO inhibitors.

I had a major problem with zz ( or lack of it ) none of the rx meds 15 mg of melatonin put me to sleep then I started getting acupuncture it has been 4 weeks and I noticed the difference I am able to sleep a lot better.
