    Hi Amy, all,

I got the drains out, yea! I do seem to feel alot better today. I think I will try to wean off the vicodin and go to ibuprofen. Hopefully that will be enough, except maybe the day after a fill. I get my second fill this Monday. I am going to go back to work this Thusday. Just going to ease back into the swing of things. How are you doing? Take care and I will TTYL.

I've been feeling lousy lately, lots of headaches and fibro is kicking my butt worse than usual.  Even the chiropractor hasn't been too helpful, because the last few times I've gone I've had headaches for several days afterwards.  I am a big headache baby.

Wow, you are wonderwoman! I can't believe how quickly you went back. I'm impressed. I suppose if I had not been on  disability I could have gone back and  sat at work, though not sure how good of a therapist I'd be while so distracted by the aching-- "you think that's bad, well I just had my boobs removed" haha not exactly what the kids I worked with need to hear.

Hi Dee--glad you felt well enough to go back to work! I've found that sometimes when  I feel rotten at home, but make myself go in to work for some reason (important meeting, project needs to get doem, etc.), I feel OK when I get there and am actually working.

14 rads out of 33 behind me now. Lymphedema still acting up. The paperwork for the approval of my compression sleeve was lost somehow, so we had to start all over. I'll be picking that up tomorrow when I go in for rads, and then making the appointment for the fitting.

Emotionally, I'm OK--still recovering from the break-up, glad my ex and I are still friends, but re-adjusting the boundaries is tough on both of us. It doesn't help that she's off on a wonderful new adventure wiht a new job  (and I'm glad for her, it's what she needed to do), while I'm still stuck in cancer treatment, uncertain of my future (not because of bc, just work-related things).

And celebrating Iowa!! Whoot! Not done yet, though...3  states down, 47 and some territories to go!

    Thanks Amy and Martha,

Maybe I did go back a tad bit too soon. I have slept alot this weekend and just feel worn out. Oh well, maybe I am just a bit depressed about things, I know you know how that feels. We all just have to hang in there and know it will get better!  I wish I could do some traveling along with you M, I have always wanted to do that. Sorry you have LE, I had 18 nodes out and worry about that. My arm feels numb and weird most of the time. I have my 2nd "fill" tomorrow so well see how that goes. Amy, I work with all men, and they say some pretty off the wall stuff, like "How are the girls today"? and Dee had to have the "girls" removed, but overall have been real supportive of me.  They keep me on my toes, and it helps me not fall into that feeling sorry for myself mode. Keep in touch and have a wonderful week!!!

Dee-- ugh- I would tell the guys at work, in a nice way, that their comments aren't appropriate. Sometimes people just need to be told what is and isn't ok to say.  I always tried to keep in mind that most of the time people meant well, even if what they said didn't always feel well. I think most people want to know what is and is not helpful to us, because they genuniely want to be supportive they just don't know how.

teresa- you guys make me feel glad I didn't have reconstruction , LOL- I can't imagine going through all that pain for new breasts.  You have my empathy.

    Hi Teresa,

    Nice to meet you!

The TE expanders will cause alot of pain, I know. I have two of those nasty boogers and I am only one month out, I can't wait until I get them out! I almost feel that if I had known that it would be this painful, I may not have went through with it. I get my 2nd fill tonight so I'm worried a bit about what kind of pain it will cause. I guess we just have to hang in there and if it gets to be too much get drugs from the PS. I have them but take them sparingly.

Amy- I did tell one of the guys today to cool with the comments about my "girls".

    Hugs,

    D~

    Hi Teresa,

When you go in for your fill they will have this magnet thing that they put on your chest to find the port in the expander. You may feel a small pinch when they put the needle in, but other than that not bad. The needle is connected to a small tubing that connects to a large syringe filled with saline.

My PS put another 100 cc in each yesterday, so I have a grand total of 250 cc in each now. I felt some pressure but no pain until last night. I took a flexoril and half a percocet. So far I and am good to go this am. Feels kinda tight, like a band around my chest, uncomfortable but not painful :)

He agreed to do every two weeks instead of three weeks apart. Will see how that goes, may be too fast, but worth a shot. Good luck with your fill.

    TTYL,

    D~

Here's my update.... Had my 17th rads today--halfway through! No problems so far (knock wood). I was fitted for my compression sleeve today and ordered one in purple!

Now here's something that's amazing me...  I've been single c. a month. Someone I know in the community was indignant about the breakup--directed at my ex--because "you have enough stress in your life and don't need this." She's now flirting with me via emails--we had dinner Sunday night (as friends, it wasn't a date) and we're having coffee Saturday (which may turn nto a date, you know how it goes). I like her, but I'm not sure I'm ready for another relationship so soon. But that's beside the point--and it may not be where this ends up anyway. What's amazing to me is that I have barely any hair, one arm is swollen like a balloon, still have my port in, going through radiation...and she's interested in me? Go figure... She's not morbid about it, or wanting to stress that I'm dealing with cancer treatment--she's not playing nurse or caretaker. She'd made her interest known to me before, actually, before I was with my ex, so this isn't totally out of the blue.

I guess I just thought I wouldn't be getting much attention until I had hair and was done with treatment!

Go TorchSong!  If it's someone you like, I think there can be something really special about a longstanding interest coming to fruition!  (You look great in your avatar, BTW)

    Hi Dee,

I go in tomorrow...well ok today, damn wish I could sleep lol....to remove the last drain.  I am suppose to have a fill Monday but I dont know, I still hurt alot.  My doctor doesn't really like to use muscle relaxers.  I have no idea why actually.  I am trying to only take on perc 5mg every 5 hours or so.  But sometimes it gets to be too much and I take another and it either makes me feel sick to my stomach or knocks me out...or both.  I hate this.  my doctor said I will have a fill every week and he will put in 50cc.  I dont have to do it each week or I can do less.  Just depends how it goes.  Im pretty scared to have a fill.  I expect that the pain will just increase.

Hello Ladies...Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Vicki, and I was diagnosed 2/13. Had R mast with expanders on 3/18, was able to go back to work 3/30, and had port put in 4/2. I am waitng til after Easter to start chemo. I went for my 2nd "fill" yesterday, and since 1st one was so much fun, took a ty w/codeine before this one...much better! I may opt to combine them with the chemo, so all the crappy days are together, as I am hoping to work FT thru chemo.

I am in a wonderful relationship, we both are deliriously happy (and have been for a few yrs, now!). I have a 20yo daughter, she has a 12 yo son, we have to very active dogs and a "load" cat!

Torch- how nice for you. For me attraction is about the woman's insides, not what she looks like. I'm glad she's teaching you that. Finding a healthy relationship will is so life affirming.

Vicki- Welcome but sorry you have to be here. Where are you from? If I had reconstruction, I would have done the fills through chemo too, for the same  reasons you stated. You and teresa make me glad I chose to forgo reconstruction, LOL.

    Hi all,

Martha- You go girl!! LOL ..seems like it's when your not looking is when some of the best things can happen. Just take it slow is see what happens - Good luck ;)

Teresa- You will feel ALOT better when that drain comes out, trust me..I know I did.Tell your PS that you cannot function on the percocet and to try you on a muscle relaxer, if he refuses maybe you can call your regular physician and ask for some. If you are not comforatable with going for the fill on Monday, maybe you can postpone and go later in the week? Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Vicki- Like Amy said, WELCOME! But sorry you had to join our BC club. You will get alot of support and information on this site. Lots of great ladies here!

Amy- Hello there! I like your informative posts :) I hated to have to read about the bullying posts, SO sad this is still happening in the world.

I saw the BS yesterday and she pretty much told me that I am cancer free and will not require any further treatments. My masts took care of it all. I will follow up with another oncologist just to have the 2nd opinion thing. I am going to do some therapy for LE and she wants me to get a sleeve too. Martha, maybe I will get a hot pink one...lol Thats about it for now ladies.

    Have a great weekend!

NoH8-I am from NY, and can't say I am "glad" to join this club, but I do know I've met some wonderful people so far along the journey!

I just went for my 2nd look at wigs today, and since I have ALWAYS been a blonde...am going way outside the box, and am going for auburn/red...might as well have "fun" with this!

It's only for work, tho, as I am a more "natural" girl, and will probably just go bald all summer!  My partner is actually going to shave her head, too! We will be quite the pair!

Vic- I went through chemo during the winter for the most part. I never got a wig,but if it was cold I wore a hat. If I must admit, I looked pretty good bald. I joked to my oncologist that if I ever got cancer again, I hoped it would be in the summer so my head wouldn't be cold. Now, the regrowth process was a friggin nightmare. I normally where long locks and l I didn't like the loooong months before I could do a pony tail.

Dee- You're so smart to go for a 2nd opinion. I'm glad you like my articles.  When I see something that moves me, I usually post it.
