Well you know women claim this is the Bible of breast cancer.  There is good basic information in there but there is alot that could upset someone like it did you.

My surgeon both times I was diagnosed said the ole "you'll be fine, a 95% cure rate", wrong!

My Onc wasn't much smarter, he didn't like my questions, resented my bringing in copies of studies, he was fired! lol

We have to be so careful when gathering info, it is really hard when they it seems, don't have all the answers.

I have never read her book, but I do know she hasn't been in clinical practice for many years: she retired to raise her child and get an MBA.

I have gotten a second opinion at Dana Farber with an oncologist who has published widely about adjuvent treatment, and is in very active clinical practice and research: his main comments were that he makes his predictions based on oncotype dx.

There is a new Adjuvant online, where you can run your numbers as well, but it doesn't include all the variables.

    https://www.newadjuvant.com/default2.aspx

For medical texts, the usual belief is that by the time they're published, they're out of date. Especially with the internet and the ability to do literature searches.

Statistics are tricky, because they're based on large numbers, and when you apply them to individual, you're always predicting: as my sister's back surgeon told her when quoting the risk of paralysis "It's 1%, but if it happens to you, it's 100%."

After reading this thread, I'm not going to look at her book. She's also in the "Army of Women" site. I really don't know what to make of her at this point: I respected her a lot when she was in practice in Boston.

I think we should all have chemo..just my opinion...node negative or postive or whatever because it can enter the blood stream inside the breast...no nodes needed.
