Celia, so good to hear from you. I hope they are as sweet and friendly too. I have been watching those little chirps this morning and they are picking on each other. They are so funny even at this young age, they are only 3 days old.
Feeling good today and feeling it will be good news.
Where are you Sahalie and Jazzy girl, come out and play. We need a song and words of magic.
I finished getting all my pictures glued on the canvas last night and it does look good. Now it needs a coat of polyurethane for protection and shine and then it is ready for the wall then posting a picture of it.
Today, will be working on the wreath, which Sahalie gave me the idea last summer. then a picture of it will be posted.
Hope you all are doing well today and have a great day. Mine will be busy, have to get grandson at school and then we have to work in a concession stand at softball games. I have never worked in one so it will be a new experience.

CELIA !
CELIA !
Don't you know how beautiful the hills are above Berkeley this time of year.
It's again sunshiney here today but cold as ice cubes for some reason.
Must mean rain is coming. We need all we can get but whoa is cold this morning.
Great seeing you post : )
JO. Of course the Raggadies are always invited. Viva A La Raggadies. So cute.
SPAR. I can't wait to see your finished craft projects. You are so very talented.
-
Hey, while I was gone my dear sweet hubby did hang my picture after telling me no so I will post a picture of it. I just love it.

-
Its not dry and with the light shining on it, it doesn't look great in the picture but it really looks good on the wall.
Just wanted to check in, am home from the concession stand and could not have done it without my grandson. I can't believe how fast he adds in his head, I needed scrap paper so I let him take over taking the money and change and I did the hot dogs and nachos. got to do it all over again tomorrow night.
My grandson touched my heart tonight, a group of us bought some groceries for a lady that lost her job and has been sick and has a small child. Brock reached in his pocket and gave her all the money he had to his name which was only .50 but you could tell it really touched her.
Got to go watch a movie with the guys now (leatherhead) so talk to you guys more tomorrow.
Good night
-
Well, got my wreath finished this morning, when the glue dries good will take a picture and post it. Where is everyone today. Its Saturday.

Hope everyone has a great one. lots of hugs and love to you guys.
-
OK, guys my wreath is dry and hung up on the wall until I get a front porch, then it will be on the door.

-
my house is starting to smell like a duck pen, will be glad when they are big enough to move to their outside pen and its 6 more weeks. They sure are cute but boy do they eat and poop a lot and they seem to want to poop in their bowl of water and rocks. We may have to put them in the laundry room and close the door. they can be chirping away and I will talk to them and they get so quite and just look up at me.
Tonight we will work in the concession stand again, it was fun but it took forever for the cheese to heat up in the crock pot to make the nachos, hopefully the cheese will be put on sooner. I can't believe how much of that red gatoraid we sold. that must be the fav drink of young people.
Check in when you can am missing you guys.
JO, I looked at stuff to make jewelry at hobby lobby, I was surprised at how expensive it all was. I fell in love with a sack of all color of wooden beads and may eventually try to make a necklace out of something like that but decided to finish all I have started before trying more new stuff.
Man, I love this thread and can't wait to see some more stuff.
-
Oh my, those are beautiful. Thanks for the information. I really hadn't ever thought about taking jewelry apart. Stuff that is homemade seems to have so much more meaning to me than a gift card or run in the store and buy something. Homemade things have LOVE in them.
-
Never been here before but love reading and looking at all the crafts! I'm not really talented but like to dabble.........Nelia.......I agree with Bren....I love anything Angels, but your quilt is beautiful...(actually I'm not sure if it is a quilt or quilted angels.......just know that I love them!!)
Also, Jaz on the Embroidery Machine................stupid question..................I want to get one but don't have a clue about Embroidery...............does the machine do it for you or do I have to know what I am doing????

Can't sleep again. I'm a breast cancer survivor and I've now been diagnosed with BRCA1 and will
soon have a double mastectomy. I'm so happy that I found this site. I'll post some of my crafts later.when I get home. I travel to see my oncologist. Bless you for starting this site. We are all in this together.
Blessings,

Good morning crafters. Spar, I love the picture and the wreath. JO, those necklaces are beautiful.
Neesie, the machine does it for you. It's all computerized. You select the embroidery pattern you want from the menu and make sure you have the thread (embroidery) thread on the machine. It will stop after each color and tell you to put in the new color. My advice is to visit a sewing machine shop and ask them to demonstrate it on a machine for you. You don't have to buy from them, just tell them that you are thinking about it. I actually got my machine at Walmart and I've been happy with it ever since. I did do some research on the internet though and alot of sewing/quilting sites gave the make and model I got some good reviews.
The Brother machine I got is lightweight enough for me to take to quilting classes, self threads, has several quilting stitches, and does embroidery. Its one of the nicest machines I've ever used without breaking the bank. Of course, nothing compares to a Bernina! But when you can't pay for something like a Bernina, this is very nice too.
-
So glad to see you post jazzy girl and know you been out having fun. You know, I was surprised but working the concession stand ended up being fun. My grandson helped alot. glad you guys liked my wreath and wall hanging, sure had fun putting it all together.
I wanna a machine like you got, I don't have a clue how to use mine or what it does and can't find the book (2 moves since I bought it and never used because the tension is wrong and thread breaks) Am determined to mess around with it soon and get it going.
Luv2live, please post some of your crafts, we love new ideas and seeing everyones crafts.
Sahalie, I will take the baby for a kiss and smell but will have to give him back
just like I do my grandkids.Morning JO
Hope all has a blessed day. Got to go get ready. love and hugs.
-
Spar, you can probably go to the manufacturer's website and download the manual for your machine in PDF form. I've done that before for an old Singer I got at a pawn shop one time. Make sure you are using fresh thread and the right size/type needle for the fabric you are sewing. Also, make sure you haven't missed a step in the threading flow.
Got to run, I'll check in a little later.
Also, take it to a local sewing machine repair if it continues after you've tried all the above. I bet its a cheap ($50 or less) fix. It probably wouldn't hurt to have it cleaned and oiled too if its been in storage for a while.
-
Morning friends,
Finally finished the quilted runner that just needed the tag and gave it to my choir director. She cried. Said it was the nicest thing anyone had ever made for her. If I can get my DH to help, I'll try to get some pictures posted. Next on list is to get top that's done layered and quilted. I have one that is all ready to quilt that is/was supposed to be for my sister's 25th wedding anniversary. She's going to be getting it for her 30th! Bad me. I have several tops that are in various stages of assembly that I need to get going on as well as an applique wall hanging that I need to anchor all the edges down. First I have to buy the matching thread. I get tired just thinking about all I have to do!
Beautiful work everyone. Keep crafting and creating.
Blessings,
Wendy

Here's the baby quilt I just finished (Amy Butler fabrics)

and a little closer up

-
Anna,
The quilt is GORGEOUS. I love the colors!
Here is an oil painting I did years ago. I painted it from a picture I took at a place called "Bird Rock" in San Diego. It's a surfing spot just south of La Jolla. Sure do miss San Diego.
(Sorry, the photo's not too clear.)

-
I'm working on my windchines (thanks to Spar for the inspiration). I've found all kinds of neat things to use!!
I'll take some pics when I'm done.
Neesie .. I haven't done needlepoint in years .. geez, I didn't even know there were machines that could do it!
-
Anna, that quilt is so lovely.
We have seriously talented artists on this thread, I do so wish I could draw or paint but just no talent in that area but oh, my DH is a different story. He is good. He bought a bunch of canvases and paint but never seems to get the time to paint, taking care of the land, gardens, and all the animals and cutting wood just seems to leave him with very little daylight hours. I am going to post a picture of something I want to make that my friend Celia sent me. That will be lovely if I can do it.

Celia, do you remember sending me this at least a year ago on the beach. You could shape it like the fish or change it to a heart or any shape you want. Anyway it is another craft on the back burner. Also here is a candle holder, I did not make this one but it looks simple enough to make.

-
they are all beautiful, couldn't possibly pick a favorite. Lots of stitches and lots of love went into making those gorgous items.
I will be in and out all day so everyone have a good crafty day.
-
JO, when you make necklaces do you use the thin spool of gold or silver thread or the stretchy thread or just plain thread or something like fishing line?
-
spar, i remember posting that craft pic of the fish with the bits and pieces hanging inside it. I found it on the web and i thought you would like it because it had sea glass in it. I think it would be great to make it in any shape you want. The fish shape in that one is good because of the use of all of the bits of stuff that had washed up on the beach. You could do a heart shaped one with little bits of stuff, like heart-shaped buttons, old keys, beads, old military medals from the 2nd hand store--i think hearts deserve medals! You could even print out some small photos or images (like grandkids and pets), then cut them out, then laminate them in clear plastic and trim around them, and hang them within the chickenwire. This project is neat because you can hang it flat on the wall, or out from the wall as a mobile that can turn in th breeze. It sounds like you have many projects going on. Have fun!!!
-
I wanted to post some pictures of the artist Alexander Calder's mobiles, because they are fun to make in small scale with all parts of the mobile moving with the air currents. He made them small scale for in houses and giant scale which were installed in airports and museums.

They are fun to make with painted cardboard shapes or small bits of thing, which all move with the air currents. When i was searching for pics of the mobiles, i found a fish like the one i sent to spar, but this one is done by Alexander Calder. I don't know who did the other one.

-
Here's the wallhanging I made as a wedding gift for this week's trip to Boston:

and here it is close up:

I still have to put the binding on it; I'll do that tonight while I watch TV. The pattern is called "Persian Puzzle" or "Lenten Cross."
-
Anna, the quilt is beautiful
Celia, what great ideas, I even have medals my son got from his 9 years in the air force. I have several pins from working for state 25 years.. All kinds of goodies to go on one.
Goodnight everyone. hugs all around.
-
Good morning fellow crafters. Celia, love the mobiles. Anna, gorgeous quilt!! JO, your jewelry is beautiful. Sorry I forgot to mention that removing your pics from photobucket would leave an orphan link in a post.
I'm off and running again. I've joined the community center and am going to use this time to get back into shape and get rid of this weight I gained through and after treatment. I've thought about getting a bicycle (regular not motorized) and joining a local bicycle club. I'm not sure I have the endurance for that yet. Does anyone cycle? If so, what type of bicycle would you recommend? I want one that won't give me too sore a bum.
-
JO, thank you so much for in info on the jewelry, I told my DH not to throw away that egg carton and he ask why and I told him I was going to start making jewelry also and he just rolled his eyes cause I have so many crafts going. I know he really likes me staying busy though. Your jewelry is beautiful.
Jaz, good for you, I know exercise helps the body and the spirit. Our church has a biker club but they are really serious bikers and serious bikes and even go to races and stuff. Me and hubby have the good old fasion kind that you pedal and the pedal is the brake also. I don't know much about the other bikes but I do know a good racing bike can cost around 13,000. the racers here just look and admire cause they can't afford that expensive of a bike. You can also buy butt padded riding shorts. LOL
Good crafting everyone. Have a blessed day.
-
Good heavens! I just want a plain old bike to ride. I may go to some garage sales this weekend. I wouldn't even consider spending over $100 for a bike. I bet I can find a used one that will work just fine.
