How old were you?

I am 51, dx 2/2/05, tumor 4cm, 1/12 nodes, er/pr-, HER3+.

My sister, who is 18 years older than I, was also diagnosed with cancer when she was in her early 50's. She'll be 70 this June and is doing great.

I am 32 yrs old just diagnosed in march,I will be starting chemo on may 2nd.I am getting 4 treatments of Adriamycin and cytoxan,then 5 weeks of rads,hormone therapy for 5 yrs.

I had just turned 48 in Sept '04. 1.5cm didn't show on July '04 mammo. Musta been hidin' out, the little bugger!

I was dx last year at 45. I knew a lump was there, but nothing ever showed up in yearly mammos, so I assumed everything was OK and I was just fibrocystic.

I just found this board today - have been using a similar board on the Komen site, but this one seems nice, too.

What a journey this has been - I went in for a baseline mammogram at age 39 on 4/16/04. We have zero family history of BC, so it didn't faze me in the least when they called me back in for a follow-up, as they assured me it was very common to get called back when establishing the baseline. Then they told me I needed a stereotactic biopsy, but they still assured me it was probably nothing. It was at that time I started to wonder, "what if I have cancer?"

Anyway, turns out it was DCIS and I had a few surgeries to get clean margins and all that good stuff, then did mammosite radiation and started tamoxifen. By the end of July, I thought I was in good shape and ready to get back to business. On a follow-up appt in October I asked the doctor to schedule my follow-up mammogram before the end of the year because my deductible had been met. Lo and behold, they found new cancer in a different part of the same breast!

I had another lumpectomy on 12/27, and I woke up to the surgeon telling me, "sorry, but this time it's invasive" which I knew meant there would be chemo in my future. Fortunately, the SNB showed clean nodes. I also got a few weeks shaved off the radiation because they did a one-day mammosite boost after the surgery to deliver internal radiation to the tumor site (my radiation oncologist is the only one I've heard of doing this, but I think it's a fantastic idea.)

Anyway, this past week I asked the doctor about scheduling my next mammogram, since it's now been a full year since we looked at the "good" breast and he agreed we should get that done soon. But, being 0 for 2 on the mammos so far, I am really looking forward to a clean one, and if they find something and call me back again, I'm sure I'll lose it completely!

But then again, as I have learned over the last year, I am so much stronger than I ever would have realized, and I have a wonderfully supportive mother who really deserves a 4 star vacation after taking care me through more surgeries than I can even remember now, going to every single appt. with me (no matter how trivial), sitting with me in the infusion room, shaving my head (even when she absolutely did not want to), telling me when my wig is crooked, happily making me a different meal when I look at what is on the table and wrinkle my nose, coming to check on me if I slept too late, and n and on. I can't imagine if I had still been with my idiotic ex-husband through all of this!

I am truly blessed! Now, if they could just give me something to cure "chemo-brain"....

I was 29 when diagnosed. I am now 30. I will turn 31 on June 14th. My onc said I've probably had breast cancer for the past 3-5 years. Amazing that it can go that long without being detected.

I had my biopsy on 8/26/04 and was told it was malignant on 8/30/04. I spent my 44th birthday 8/31/04 in getting my C/T and bone scans. Not the best birthday present I've ever had

hi everyone i met a lady who had breast cancer in 1988 and doing great.

I was 27 at diagnosis in 1999, I'm now 32. I celebrated 5 years on 12/7/04.

My cancer was low grade, and the doctors think it had probably been there for about 10 years. That means I probably developed cancer when I was around 17. It was 9mm when I found it.

I was 29, and had just been married for a month. I found the lumpp. Lo and behold it was IDC Stage IIIa with nodes. No family history. I did chemo, then lumpectomy and rads. All was good until we realized the back pain I'd had since the beginning was actually mets. At 32, I've had one tumor removed from my spine (risk of paralysis) and within 3 months, even arfter Tamoxifen & Femara another spot showed up elsewhere on the spine. Aaaargh!

Oh well! It could be worse!

I was dx'd last year at 36 yrs (exactly one month before 37th birthday)

I was 44 when diagnosed with idc and dcis in right breast with 4 nodes involved. Tumor was 7mm.

I'm 51 and was dx with DCIS in Feb...high grade comedo with necrosis. My first mammo was at age 27 due to bleeding from nipple, and since 1987 have had a lumpectomy, two excisional biopsies, a wedge resection and a stereotactic biopsy, all benign. Now I can add another lumpectomy and a partial mastectomy to my chestful of scars. My med onc laughed when I saw her for the first time. I had put a small smiley face sticker on each scar. It's one thing to make a written list of them; it's another thing to see all the actual scars.

My mom was 42 and is now 61 (62 in August) with 10 out of 18 nodes positive. No recurrence until a year ago in the bones.
