We could just make it official couldn't we? When it's someone's birthday we don't do housework. Okay, Coonie has taken care of today (thankfully), anyone celebrating tomorrow?
-
Thanks Nancy!! You mean Salvation Army is that picky about what they accept??
Oh well......their loss and somebody else's gain
Have a great weekend!
-
Geez Nancy, when did the Salvation Army get so hoity toity? (I bet there's needy families that would have loved your bookcases.) Maybe they only see the resale ticket in their heads and know they won't get as much as they want for themselves! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr that heats me up! Call Community Living Services or a womans' shelter or Habitat for Humanity. Heck, call the newspapers!!!!!!!!
Coonie, I think the point of this thread is because we HAVEN'T been doing housework anyway! But....I do like the way you think!
-
Happy Birthday Coonie!! No work for you today!
Barbe, pre-cut or not..I say you built that gazebo. Just deciphering the instructions in those kits is enough work credit for a lifetime!!
mom2two, after reading your Corinthians post above I can see that my husband could not have loved me. For nearly a year he kept a note in his wallet...it was a quote of something i said to him in anger once. He read it regularly to remind himself of that day I yelled at him. I will have to remember your post for the future when I meet a man who says "I love you".
I agree that my BCO friends are the best!
-
Cali - glad you got rid of him!!! Who needs that! You are better iff without him and you WILL find another man!! A really good one!
-
Thanks Cali.....wow...jerkwad sounds like a real........well.........jerkwad!!
and I agree with Linda. You'll get another good husband, and he might just come from Looooosiana
-
hee hee...I am so glad you ladies are my friends!! You always say the right things to cheer me up when i'm feeling a bit blue. I just know there is a man out there who is single and looking....who is perfect for me. Is he in Nebraska?? maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell. And, yes, maybe he is from Loooooosiana. LOL I'm glad I have such good neighbors who can recommend such nice southern gentlemen...hope he pans out
-
Happy birthday Coonie...who cares if he's a maid
So sorry of all the crummy stuff, and yipey for all the good stuff. I agree friendships I've made here, the people I have met...amazing women. Thank you all for the gift of your friendship, I hold this as somthing very dear in my life.
I've worked in nonprofit world for many yrs and this has been a problem for public, clients and groups....Salvation Army and similar groups have had to be more selective with what they take because SO MANY people are donating rather than tossing and non profits can be overwhelmed with items. It becomes a good news/bad news situation. Most places do not have adequate storage facilities (no money, hence nonprofit) and would prefer to have the best of what is available to offer in their stores (which help support their mission esp in this ecomony when donations are down) or to make available to "clients". Unfortunately there is a gap that gets created. Barbe had some good suggestions...try other places that might be helping clients set up new homes and looking for used furniture--battered women's shelters, out patient psych/mental health programs, places that might be running group homes, homeless shelters, groups that work with low income/low cost housing, local unemployment/social services offices might know of groups/people, local churches, United Way. Some of these places know of whose out there and in need, others are in need.
Good luck. I say we get the weekend off to help Coonie celebrate her birthday!
-
Hey Cali...those southern gentlemen are the best. My man is a born and bred Loooouisiana boy and he's wonderful. We'll celebrate 29 years in August!
Thanks Elaine for your birthday wishes!!! You've given us some great ideas for donations. I have seen people just dump old used mattresses, etc. at the local Salvation Army.......eewww....who wants to sleep on somebody else's "used" mattress??
Love you gals!! I think we're gonna travel about an hour south to shop and eat:) uuummm....maybe Olive Garden or something
Bless you all!!!
-
Coonie, Happy Birthday!! And many many more!
I agree, the friends we have here are the best, understanding, "been-there-done-that" friends anyone could ever want for.
love you all,
taking today off with you,
Cheryl

OOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhh Coonie, I tried to get today off from the housework in honor of your birthday but hubby think cause he's helping to clean (remember that " I'll do the laundry this weekend" promise he made earlier) that I should be helping too instead of sitting at the computer!!!! Can you imagine????!!!!!! So guess I'm stuck actually getting caught up this morning.
Cali girl my heart goes out to you. Your right that verse does cut right to the heart of what love really means. People so often say that they love but their actions tell a different story. We would have a better world to live in if we all truly loved each other the way that verse says. Speaking of which I better throw a little of that love my hubby's way while he's willing to help.
-
-
Awwhhh thanks Nana....I'm glad you're taking the day off too!
I think we should just celebrate EVERYONE today and take the whole WEEKEND off!
I agree about the sisterhood here. I have a REAL sister, but she doesn't know half the
stuff you guys do about how I feel. Today, though, I'm feeling really blessed
-
Kathleen!!!!!! What an adorable picture!!! I didn't realize there were so many cute coons out there:) Thank you so much!! I hope you have a great weekend!
Mom......you bette go "love" your husband and help with laundry...hehe
-
You are the cutest racoon of them all! Happy Birthday and many, many more!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY COONIE. My motto is the first 20 years don't count so that make you 26. But the first 20 only applies to females.
Well as the saying goes a day late and a dollar short. Here's what I got done yesterday. One load of laundry. And hours of more bookeeping. My sales rep thought we still owed him $$ but when I broke it all down he is in the negative. Should have left well enough alone. I also got rid of the clothes sitting by the door.
Now for today I have done the dishes (no dishwasher= extra bank points) a load of laundry. Next will be the fridge to clean and then make some cookies (snickerdoodles) I am chocolated out if you can beleive that!
I will have to try palying dumb more often it sure seems to get you alot further.
-
You Ladies have been busy chatting.
Happy Birthday Coonie!
Caligrl- Im so glad you are rid of that jerk. You deserve Much Better!
Good you made your DS do housework since he skipped his homework. next time He will probably do the homework!
~~~
Im not doing very good this morning. Im so sad & sick of this period already. I have not made it more then 10 minutes all day before I have to run to the bathroom...And I usually cant make it there. Nothing helps against a fist size blood clot- Sorry- probably TMI. But I am bumming.
The ER will do nothing. They didnt 7 weeks ago when this happened & I went to the ER then. I waited 30 hrs before I went there . I was not anemic after 30 hrs of Constant heavy bleeding. And I wont be yet either. They can not give me a shot of Hormones- as it is dangerous with my Stroke risk. And not good with the BC. if I was very anemic they would have done a D & C then- But I wasnt- so they didnt want to do that & I wasnt to keen on it either- And Cardio wasnt either- he didnt want me to have any surgery.
Those were my Only options.
I am taking my Iron & Will rest on the couch all weekend. I wanted to get outside over the weekend
Pam
-
Pam, I hope the bleeding stops soon. Gosh, for emerg not to help you..........phew. Gentle hugs.
-
-
That's the official welcome to any of you new ladies who just need a place to come chat, meet some new friends and have a laugh or two. (oh almost forgot, maybe even to get a thing or two done around the house......I did say maybe didn't I? See today is Coonie's birthday so alot of these hard working women are taking the day off to celebrate her birthday. Kind of the new rule for the day, we seem to make alot of those new rules up as we go along here, don't we girls?
-
I didn't know this thread existed, saw it recommended to another gal on a different thread, so I came on to check it out! Looks like all of you have high spirits and enjoy each other! I recognize a few names, Barbe & Caligrl. Do you mind if I join in this thread?
-
Pam sorry your having so much bleeding. I was sooo glad to get my hysto a few years back.
Get this girls: My dh asked if I wanted to go into town this morning I said no I was going to clean the fridge. He jump in there and done it for me and wash the dishes. It still counts as one thing!! So I cleaned the bathroom instead ( I wonder who got the better end of the bargin?) Another load is ready for the dryer... gota go
Welcome 2new1s. Like the shirt.........
-
Love your name 2new1's and of course you can join us! We all just pop in and out all day so grab that dust rag and join in the fun.
Wow denise, tell hubby volunteering earns him extra brownie points on this thread!
-
Okay, I guess my first official housework post will be now! DH is still sleeping, it's 12:27pm here. I went upstairs to sort the laundry to get it started, put the first load in. I went to wake him up and he said "Oh I was up just kind of getting ready to get out of bed!"
My last surgery was 3/8/09 - emergency removal of right tissue expander. So I am still obviously on lifting restrictions. I can sort the clothes, get them into the washer, but he has to move them to the dryer. But a little help would have been nice! Normally he is very helpful, but he works Mon-Fri and likes to sleep in, but I am thinking "Get you butt up!"
Okay - enough of that! Had to get it off my chest! Or should I say, my one foob chest? LOL
-
Hello to all
I'm new here to this thread and I hope this counts, but I just washed all the ashtrays, emptied all the garbage in every room to get rid of every butt as I am quitting smoking today. Oh I also made the bed, cleaned the bathroom, did a load of laundry and did the dishes...........do I qualify?
Hugs
Deb
-
I'm relatively new too but I think but I think if one even "thinks" about doing housework it counts. But today is Coonie's b'day so everyone has the day off. And that's official.
Welcome 2new1s and Deb. Quitting smoking is a biggy. Good luck!!
-
2 you are doing better than I was so early on. Laundry was one of the hardest for me to do in the beginning. Its so heavy, I think you may be underestimating how heavy right now.
Sharon I think you may be right about thinking about housework. That in itself can wear me out
Deb you're doing a great job in the housework dept. maybe you can spur all these "celebrating" ladies into some action today
Also want to tell you how great I think it is that you are making your mind up to quit today. No going back. We're with you and to hold you accountable think maybe you should pm me each night to let me know if you made it cigarette free. If you do I'll post it in my morning wake up post here. Deal?
-
Deal although I am on Chantix which is making it somewhat easier..of course the hubby can't take it, makes him sick, so I am really hoping he can quit too, would be tons easier on me...but I don't want to end up in the chemo lab with lung cancer so am doing my best, been 2 hours now since my last one...and that pic looks like my garbage can did! LOL.............
Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deb
-
Deb, I think you should throw out the ashtrays too!
-
Well I most likely will Barbe soon as I find out if the hubby is serious about quitting too, if not he will need them...I can't believe this Chantix, it's been over 3 hrs since my last cig and I'm not ready to kill anything yet.........marvelous, simply marvy!!!!!!!!!
