most thoughtful thing received after surgery?

The ladies at my Daughters day care sent home a fully cooked hot meal every day for two weeks complete with dessert and drinks and paper plates. My son drove the girls to daycare and picked them up and my sister in law has been to every single appointment with me even if it's just to get my port flushed. She drives 35 miles one way and refuses to let me be alone for any appointment. Even calls me to remind me of appointment dates.
My favorite thing though was that my Husband gave me a wonderful foot massage and a pedicure. He still does this quite often and it is the most thoughtful gift I've ever received.

My husband has always had a lazy-boy chair he loves and fits him perfectly that I can't stand because its way too big for me (I'm much shorter then my husbabnd). The best gift after my mastectomy and expander? He went out and came home with a much smaller lazy-boy that fit me PERFECTLY. He said when we saw the BS and PS pre-op he got listening to them and realizing that getting down and up from coach and bed post op would be hard and I needed something more comfortable. He was right and I hadn't even thought of it. I can't even imagine what it would have been like without this chair. I love it. I wasn't sure what I was most touched about, the fact he thought so much about what things would be like post op that he figured out I would need it, or the fact that he knew me so well he could go into a store and find a chair that fit me perfectly.

My mother in law stayed with me for my first 2 weeks after surgery. Once we got into a rhythm and became more organized, she had more free time than she wanted. So she asked me to pick out a color and she painted my bedroom and bathroom. 2 weeks later, my sister came to visit and, motivated by what my MIL did, she painted my livingroom! Now I have 2 new clean slates to think about decorating and it really gave me something to look forward too.

I had Total double Mastectomy on April 9th. With the Virus my hospital was on complete lock down. No one was allowed in with me & Hospital assigned me a private nurse who held my hand before & after surgery. I will forever remember Kimberly for being so supportive when I was terrified of what was to become.

I didn't get many tangible gifts from people, but regardless, the best gift I got throughout the whole diagnosis and treatment process was my husband's steadfast love and support. Another highlight was my birthday in October, after my treatment was over. I had a birthday party at home. We invited about 30 friends and almost all of them came. We also managed to have a party with the foreign-born adults my husband and I volunteer with, for an English class. They saw me throughout the year, saw me with hair and bald, saw me weak and strong, saw me able to lead lessons and only able to watch. They saw me recovering. They brought a pot luck birthday party and a couple of gifts. (And now with everything closed for COVID-19, I miss them very much.)
