really love the black heel. I have to find a pair of shoes tomorrow... will post what I bring home.
-
I really like your black heels Raye. Where did you find them. Really cute!
Lexi
-
I LOVE the wedge too Raye! Don't take them back, they'll feel bad, neglected, abandoned. I never can take anything back. I'm such a suck. What the hell happened to me in my childhood? Wait! I don't want to know.
-
I started out at DSW, where I bought the wedges, because they didn't have the heels in my size. I searched online and found the heels at Famous Footwear in my size and ordered them. Free shipping for UPS ground. Not bad.
You really think the wedges would feel unwanted if I took them back, Barbe? I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, so I guess I will keep them.
-
Tres sexy, Raye. But I would expect no less of you!
Girls, I am starting a new diet today. I had a brain fart last night and thought that if I scheduled myself to eat a Saltine cracker once every half hour I might not get that ravenous feeling (keeping the blood sugar up and all that) and go stuff myself. So, that's what I'm doing. So far, I'm four crackers into my diet...........Will let you know how it goes.
-
Tina, if you actually put something on those crackers, you could skip breakfast, lunch and dinner! Peanut butter, cheese, cream cheese, etc, etc,...
-
Tina, I love the idea of dickie/insert. I have not had surgeries but often uncomfotable with lots of cleavage and styles are low cut these days. Have lost weight so I can wear them but.... I'm using camis but really hate the extra layer, I specialize in hot flashes on steroids
I'll be your first customer
-
barbe, too bad my dh probably would not be too interested in such a diet. LOL
Actually, I would not skip breakfast, lunch or dinner. I'm interested in skipping all the goodies in between! Mornings I am ravenous and I usually have breakfast, late breakfast, early lunch, then lunch.
I am hardly hungry at suppertime but dh has a fit if I don't eat then.
Well, I only want to lose those gd 10 pounds but let me tell you it isn't easy! Now, if only I could get off my fat arse, I would be doing myself a favor, too.
Sigh.
Cannot wait for my bra dickie materials to arrive. I would need names for sizing. Any ideas? Teeny (for me), Small, Normal, Ample, Mamma Mia! or what???
-
Yah gotta get "bodacious ta-tas" in there somewhere!
-
Who is your target market for the bra dickie/inserts? BC girls? All girls and trannies (don't want to leave anyone out)? with this info, we can figure out some cute sizing names.
How about when you get a craving, have a tiny bite of peanut butter? The protein will help control your appetite and cravings better than the carb cracker, which will make you feel tired and want more crackers (does me anyway).
-
It's fun having another project.
Bodacious, oh my goodness, yes. Market: the world. Actually, anyone who doesn't want their chest on inadvertant display. (This wasn't a problem until a couple of years ago when V-necks went south.) Nothing wrong with showing off what you've got if that's what you intend, but those moments you bend over a bit and realize everyone in front of you can look down your blouse are not a good thing.
Raye, I could do that but I hate peanut butter. Maybe a craving for it once or twice a year. I do love almond butter, though. Both are highly calorific.
If only I were one of those lucky people who loved fruits and veggies. DH loves to snack on freshly pulled radishes from the garden. Me, I feel as if I've eaten NOTHING when I eat F&V. I don't hate them, I just have no feeling of having eaten anything when I consume them. Bah.
-
Tina,
Let us know how your dickie works out. I would love to figure out how to make one so I don't need to have the extra layer of a cami which usually fits pretty tight. Since the Rag Shop closed, I can't find anyplace near me that would have patterns and fabric, and I just haven't gotten past that hurdle. I've actually considered trying to make a pattern from a paper bag and buying a thin T-shirt from Target or Kohls and just cutting it up to try to make a dickie. I think I'll let you lead the way.
-
Tina, a little bit of cheese will add the protein also and give you essental calcium.
My dad likes to eat radishes as well, my mom buys the bags of radishes and he will eat a bag or two a week. She keeps buying them because it is better for him than other things he snacks on. he is diabetic and needs to watch his carb intake.

I just did a google search of lace dickey for bra and came up with this picture on Macy's site. It is a bandeu type top that would fit over the bra. I don't know if this is what you were thinking about but it is an idea.

Here is another site that just attaches to the bra but no picture of it on the site. http://www.jms.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/product/product.d2w/report?style=21404&cm_mmc=Linkshare-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&ENTRY_TAG=LINKSHARE&siteID=kQ2kZjHcXDM-4HNC1OQd4cyP.7vduWPj4Q

Well, Sheila, you have been busy!
Neither is what I had in mind although both are great ideas. The little "hanky" tie on piece is cute but I had something more bib-like in mind that wouldn't flop around loose under your outer piece. And the first demi-cami or whatever you would call it is really very nice but it goes all around and that is not what I had in mind.
I should draw you my idea and convert it to a pic and post it here. If I get around to it later today. I'd be interested in your feedback. Thanks.
-
Wow Sheila, you done good! I had those ideas in my mind during this discussion. Now I'm curious to see what Tina comes up with.
-
OMG! I have found Miss Oops Boob Tubes.
https://www.missoops.com/products/details.php?product_id=8
They have a whole bunch of stuff here. Still, not exactly what I had in mind. I wanted to eliminate the extra fabric around the back but this is another winner. I wonder if these things creep down over the course of the day? Anyway, these are all great products for those of us with "issues," don't you think?
-
OLB- depending on where you are (I am in Morris County) there may be JoAnn's Fabrics; probably the last of the chain fabric stores. I also have a great littlefabric store nearby, mosly people go there for quilting things.
-
OLB, We have a Hancock fabrics in our area, they have gone more to the interior design side of fabrics but do still have some dress fabrics, and you can also check out the site I told Tina about www.maryjos.com They sell fabric by phone or internet. Patterns can be looked at on the major pattern companies websites, Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls.
Sheila
-
Shelia- just checked out the site, ooooooo, my eyes are big as saucers. Too bad we aren't closer (although my dh is probably glad we aren't closer)

My quilt guild has a running joke that if you are picking somebody up from the airport at Charlotte you have to stop by MJ's to increase your fabric stash. It is just off I-85 in Gastonia and about half way between Hudson and Charlotte. When I was going to Charlotte to pick up my son at the airport when he was still in the Navy, I was tempted to drop in at MJ's but he usually was coming in late at night or early morning before the store was opened so I didn't get a chance to stop.

Not to interupt the Dickie discussions... that just sounds awful.
But, I accepted the job today, and I'm so glad I went to town at INC yesterday. I got a pair of black pants, light weight gray pants with a thin white and blue stripe, four tops, and two pairs of heels... one that has nothing to do with work, and it's BCBG and I couldn't resist. I will have to look for a picture to post.
So I just got back from the mtg to formally accept the offer, and I'm jumping in head first on Monday. I planned out 5 days worth of outfits for next week, and I will have to re evaluate the wardrobe next weekend, and see what's what. On most weeks I won't be working Mon-Fri--- it will be 7 days mixed up- generally Sun and Thursdays off, which is great to rotate a wardrobe around.
And of course, now that I just settled in with this lap top that I adore- they are buying me a new one. I'm going to see if I can get them to buy me the same thing I use at home, although it may be too expensive.
In other news- a few days after a family friends son was dx with testicular cancer, now my little brother found a lump... I'll keep you posted. They are saying the U/S results came back negative, but I don't understand what that means... how can you have a negative, with a palpable lump? I hate that he's so far away.
Tina once you get these dickies going, and you're ready to sell, ETSY is the way to go. Julie from bco chat is selling her jewelry there, and my sister sells her bags there... it's a great site to sell all sorts of goodies on.
I'll see if I can find a pick of the shoes... the front/side and back are all stunning....
-
Great news Beth, I know with your fashion sense you will look fabulious no matter what you pick out.
Sheila

-
Beth, my husband has had a palpable lump in "that area" for at least 15 years. The docs always get excited when they find it but it has turned out to be annoying, not scary. Here's hoping....
Now tell me! I must have missed a loop! What job did you take?
-
Congratulations to the working girl. Hmmm. That doesn't sound too pure, either, does it? Well, I'm so happy you are back in the saddle........They will love you and you will look great. In fact, you'll keep them on their fashion toes.
Speaking of toes, Beth, your new shoes are so YOU> I love them. Of course, I would kill myself in them. It takes practice to walk in those and there's precious little of that out in East Bum......where I live.
I sure hope your little bro is okay. He must be a wreck waiting for test results.
I'm off to Macy's to check out those cami bras that someone mentioned. I think it was Sheila. Will let you know what it's like. Did anyone look at Miss Oops? What a great line of stuff.
-
I checked out the Miss Oops and the Boob Tube lookes interesting, but like you Tina, I need something that gives more coverage. I also found a JoAnn Fabrics nearby that I forgot about because I was so used to going to the Rag Shop. Looked for patterns online, but didn't find anything that would work. May have to get creative.
-
Ooo, Beth, love those shoes!! And CONGRATS on the job. We know you'll look great & we also know you'll do a bang-up job, too.
We're all getting laptops at work now to take on our patient home visits. I'm in the pilot group to learn the documentation software & field test them first. So, wish me luck. I think this is great, long time coming. It does put my whole project to get homecare for BC patients on hold for a bit, but I'm going to keep gathering info so that I can be ready to get this rolling when everybody's trained up on the laptops.
Beth, hope your bro is okay. That's scary. And we all know waiting to hear is the worst.
-
Bought one of those Fashion Forms stretch lace cami things at Macy's yesterday. $18.00 less 20% so it was only $14.40 but still a little bit much for what it is. However, after trying one on I thought I could use it. I bought the white. It'll work under a couple of things.
Now, it does go all the way around so it's another small layer (about 3-4" mesh in back) which is fine for this time of year but will be hot in the summer. Also, if you can see at all through your top, the extra "bra line" will be visible. I don't like that, so I'm going to continue working on my idea. Still, this isn't bad.
I also bought a new leather bag on sale. 25% off for the day, less my 20% discount for using my macy's card brought it to less than $80, so I can live with that for my new GRASS/APPLE GREEN feedbag-type bag. It's so soft! It will look really nice with the red and white dress. Not Christmas-y at all. Now I HAVE to go with the white shoes. The green bag looks great with jeans, too. A very different look for me and a way to finally be able to wear green which is terrible on me.
-
Congrats on the new job, Beth. Fabulous news . I LOVE those shoes! Please keep us updated on your brother - so sorry to hear about that and I hope that everything is just fine.
