Purple sweater attached to a white dress shirt? That sounds very familiar - is it INC? I have a similar one, but black sweater vest attached to white dress shirt. I love it. Good luck on the interview. You will be fabulous. Just reading your posts above - very impressive to say the least, B.
Pee Bodies. LOL.
I will have to Google this North Style and check out these items. Today, I am on the hunt for a dog tag necklace - I love them.
-
You know it's INC girl!!! It's one of my favorites. What kind of dog tag necklace do you want? If you want a silver one that has a cancer msg on the back, the cancer crusade, is a web site that sells cute dog tags...
if you want bling dog tags, or a dog tag shape with your initial check out www.inspiredsilver.com
I started trying on lots of different combinations of outfits, you know, so if I get this job I have a wardrobe. I was pretty impressed with myself. Remember, I've worked from home for the last few years, and when I worked at Aldo, it was over the top trendy, which is not appropriate for this job. But I dug out my old accessories box, and found great necklaces, and earrings, and paired them with different tops and pants, and I'm pretty happy that if I get this job, I will not need to shop for any clothes.
Okay, maybe new shoes... tee hee
-
Oooh, I would love a cancer message dog tag. I will Google that and let you know what I find.
Just a couple of pairs of shoes maybe? Always good to be prepared.

The red gingham seersucker dress from NorthStyle just arrived. Looking cute. I tried it on and it fits reasonably well, but I know how to alter it to make it perfect. Not really too much work. I think it will be very flattering.
I am bummed, though, that, since it has a low V-neck, I will have to take it up at the shoulder seam to raise the neckline. You can see the hollow above my foob and almost see daylight out the other side at the armhole. This is making me crazy. So many of the fashions now have low necklines. I am trying to get my ps to DO SOMETHING about this but it is slow going and I am feeling quite frustrated about it. The little implant I had put in under the flap to even out the size difference, which is really not fixed, either, makes it even worse. I don't know what to do but that is another topic entirely.
Boo, Hiss.
Anyway, the dress will be just PERFECT for those hot, summer days. I love it. I may even leave it the current length (mid-calf) but won't know until I try it on with proper shoes.
-
I feel your pain about the low necklines! GRRRRdiculous!!! Wearing a cami is something I have to wear with these low cut tops; so on a hot summer day, I have bra, silicone proths, cami and low cut whatever on. Talk about layering.
-
B - I can't get that link to open and when I Google the cancer crusade, I can't get any of the links to open - maybe their site is down.
-
the cancer crusade site worked for me just now
the 'bling' silver site needs to have the comma replaced with a dot com
Both are great sites - thanks Beth

Hey, Beth, I say, we might as well think big. Great ideas. And we could soooo do this. Also would give me an opportunity to be silly on the video, if I were the one demonstrating the exercises, get people to laugh a little. One of my specialities as a PT.
I do a talk on osteoporosis every October for this women's health day at the local hospital. The last one happened to occur the week I finished rads. So, I decided I would also talk a bit about breast cancer treatment and bone healt, and I told everyone I was going through treatment myself, and I whipped out my prosthesis to enthusiastic applause and laughs, waved it in the air, and laughed about how much I enjoyed the fact that my insurance had to pay for it. Now I want to expand it into a talk on the 4 B's: boobs, bones, backs & bladders. You know, maybe do a real road show!!
LOL, Raye. I can totally relate to the low-neckline layers! Nothing like having MORE hot flashes...
When do you find out about the job, Beth?
Love the dog tag idea. Going to visit the site.

I am singing the Indiana Jones theme for some reason in my head....
It went AMAZING. I need to submit a Mockup of a Calendar of events and a newsletter layout by Tuesday. I also get to hire an asst that would be paid hourly...
Kak-- I would love to have you guys come to NY for a day of lecture and health events....I know I'm getting ahead of myself. But there's a nice budget to work with.
I will need to buy more pants, definitely cannot wear jeans, and she said she loved the way I was dressed, and she'd rather me in my own clothing then a uniform b/c I would play an important role in meeting the new residents and selling the units that haven't been built yet etc....
I asked for a higher salary then I knew they would offer, and she is going to work on it this weekend. If I can hire an asst at an hourly rate, I can get a higher salary. If I want an asst that is full time, my salary would be lower....
Anway, I downloaded a great calendar program and I am going to make a kickass mock calendar for them. If they like it they can buy the software... She said she will get me a laptop, and I can decorate the office as I please... it's 13 minutes from the house.
I need to find a good newsletter template too!
I'm going to work on as much as possible for the next two hours before I leave for my girls poker weekend!!!
love to all
(oh, and now that I told the other cancer org that I had an interview, their board asked for my resume and cover letter the other day... go figure)
-
KAK, you might as well add bowels to your B's. Maybe even (chemo) brain.
-
Beth, YOU ROCK! Sounds awesome. I'm keeping my fingers, eyes, arms, legs & toes crossed (all right, I can't really cross my toes...).
Barbe, that would make it the six B's: boobs, bones, backs, bladders, bowels and brains. I like it!!
-
WaHoo, Beth! And have a great weekend. You are on a roll now!
I'd add Beer. I know lots of old gals that LOVE their beer.
-
OMG-- literally sat here last two hours to do a mock calendar... and I freakin saved it wrong, and lost the entire file!!!!
UGH. TGIF. I have to walk away from it and re visit on Sunday.
ugh.
-
Okay, I'm slowly getting on a roll over here. I finished the Mock Newsletter and I think I did a really great job... I'm having someone read it over for editing and an opinion just to make sure.
I'm still struggling with this calendar issue. Everything out there is geared towards personal calendars and web based calendars, and the program I downloaded is the best of them all, but I'm so afraid to start all over and have the same file issue again.
Wish me luck, I have till Tuesday to get it all done!
-
I must have missed the news a couple days ago Beth. I know you've been working on something, but for what job? I know I saw knock-out pictures of you in a gorgeous black and white dress.....
-
Beth - YAY. Sounds wonderful. Hope you enjoyed your weekend! You will do a knockout job on Tues.!

Ladies, I need suggestions.
The red/white check seersucker dress. It's a deep red, not bright. I think finding the right shade red in shoes is not likely. Am thinking high wedge sandals, maybe with espadrille sole. What color? As I am thinking of leaving the dress mid-calf (maybe) I am thinking nude color shoes would help elongate my short legs.
OTOH, I want some bright color somewhere. Where would you wear it? The dress is sleeveless with a V-neck. Earrings, bag, necklace, where? What color. I just need ideas to help break me out of a rut and thought you would be able to brainstorm.
BTW, I am thinking of whipping up some sort of stretch lace bra dickey, if you know what I mean, to help conceal my chest when wearing lower V-necklines. Something that would attach to my bra straps at about the level of the top of the cups and also just under the cups. Do you think this is a practical idea and do you think anyone else might be interested in such a product?
-
Tina, I don't know about a dickey, but I have lace camisole bras in 3 colors, go to JCPenney website and there is a Jodee mastectomy bra section that sells them, very pretty and I wear them under most anything that shows cleavage (I am old and wrinkled cleavage is not cool, believe me!). Just a suggestion ☺
-
Susan, I just wrote you a long reply but bc.org went down for maint at that moment and it was lost.
Short version: Jodee no longer on jcp site, went to Jodee site. Great looking cami part of bra, perfect, but I could never wear those shaped and seamed cups and they probably don't have a size small enough to fit me. Why do mast bras seem larger size for size than regular bras? And those are $50!!!
Natori also makes a really beautiful cami bra (not mast) with underwire, but I can only find it online so cannot try it on. I think the 34B would be too large for me. Plus I never wear underwire. You know where that leaves me. Trying to rig up something myself.
Anyway, I always wear seamless bras, like T-shirt bras. I thought a cami dickey might work for me.
And, I re-iterate. Visit here often! You sound like a fashionista and would be in good company!
-
Tina, my sister gave me a couple of Nancy Gantz body slimmer camisoles that are stretch lace with cup shape pre-formed to prevent from squeezing the shape out. I think she got them at Target. I also have seen some knit camisoles at Fashion Bug with lace inset at the neckline.

Tina I would wear white espadrilles(sp). Although, you'd be surprised about finding a deeper red shoe--try zappos.com.
As far as the lace thingy for the bra, I think it's a great idea. I wish you could watch what not to wear. They always talk about how a deep vneck elongates the neck and makes the upper region look slimmer, but they are usually talking to a heavier set woman, who is self conscious about showing cleavage, so they always put a beautiful cami that has lace across it, but is sheer and gives support the rest of the way down. I think they look lovely.
I know your frame is small, so I can see why you'd need to make it yourself. My sister who is tiny as ever- a teeny size 2 on a 5'0 frame, she hates her chest being bare, so over a smooth bra, she uses lace topped cami's. I think she used to get them from Gap Body- do they even have those anymore or did Gap close them? Maybe they are still available online.
I live for my seamless bras. I know they are the farthest thing from being sexy, but they are smooth, and look great under any piece of clothing.
Tomorrow I'm going back to INC to find two pairs of black pants, and I need to find a comfy black low heeled shoe that I can wear to work. (details to come, they are making me an offer Friday)
-
Beth - we are of one mind today apparently. I was going to advise Tina to go white in the wedge shoes. Now a bright color to go with the deep red, I am at a loss. Initially, I thought navy, but that is obviously not bright. How about another blue (which is really in this summer BTW), or maybe an orange? I like dark colors and am not good with brights. I would wear the dark red dress with some funky, but not necessarily bright necklace(s).
I too, love seamless bras and wear a cami under low necked tops and dresses. Typically not a lace cami, just a stretchy one, which invariably ends up being very hot in the summer. Jessica Rabbit, maybe you are on to something here - perhaps a dicky that's not lacy or a choice of both??
Can't wait to hear about the shoes, Beth - and more importantly, the job offer on Friday! WHOO HOO.
-
How about a shrug? They have come out with some gorgeous colours this Spring!
-
Okay, we don't want to wear a cami because it's too hot. That is the "why" of the dickie-thing. It should just cover where you need it, not be another layer. Comprenez? I really need to go online fabric shopping. It's so hard to tell quality online but there are next to no fabric stores left anymore. A few quilting shops, but no apparel fabric shops. A colleague who owns a sewing center says that young girls are really getting into sewing, thanks to shows like Project Runway, but I don't know.
Raye, you have put me in a thinking about color mode. Maybe using shades from the red through orange would do the trick. I love the effect of using adjacent colors together in a room or in clothes. A bright blue would also make a nice accent if I used it in at least two ways.
A shrug sounds perfect for cooler weather, barbe!
Just for giggles, Shleila, I will check out the Nancy Gantz. Will let you know if I spy anything that looks likely. Thanks.
-
Tina - If you are wearing neutral or white espadrilles then there's your spot of deep red - on your toes! Polish comes in every hue, and if the dress is a flattering color on you, you can bet the polish will be, too. Some earrings to frame your face that pick up a bit of the red without being too matchy-matchy would be terrific!
Beth - can't wait to hear details! Only you could get re-employed in a matter of a few short weeks in this miserable economy. Girl gots da skillz!
Lisa
-
Tina, I just wear the cami's without bras. The Nancy Gantz slimmers don't seem to add bulk because it is all lace, not knit.
If you want quality fabric on line go to www.maryjos.com
It is a fabric store about 45 minutes from my house and it literally has anything you would want. There are people who travel farther than we do to shop there. My sister goes there to get her fabrics for prom and bridal gowns. The ladies in the quilt guild I belong to go there to get their quilt fabrics. I think you can call and get assistance over the phone on what you are looking for. Last summer the Mall it was in was undergoing major reconstruction (tore down 3/4 of the building but left Mary Jo's intact and built a temporary entrance while the construction was going on.

Tina,
Truelife makes a cami bra N4007 that has smooth cups so it works under everything. It runs big - I'm usually a 34 A, but in this bra I need a 36. My fitter also got me a lace insert you can sew onto your bra which also works because I can sew it on higher than the lace on the cami bra goes. I need a lot of coverage as I am concave almost up to my colarbone. I've considered making a dickey type thing for some lower cut tops. I have totally missed out on that fashion statement (the lower cut tops) and I'm tired of it! I want to wear them too. I'm not even talking really low cut, but anything lower then a crew neck. I also wear camis over my bra and pull the front up high and pin it to my bra straps. If I use a cami with a shelf bra, I cut the shelf part out.
-
Oh, that Trulife Bra is very pretty and it does have the right kind of cups. How much is it? Since it's a mast bra, I'll bet it's pretty pricey. The lace insert you mention is what I had in mind, though, except I was thinking it was something that could be removable to use with different bras. I tend to buy multiples of the same bra when I find one that fits well and I'd like to not be limited to using the same one all the time. Laundry issues and all that. LOL
I'm thinking this insert/dickie would be something ANY woman could use with today's fashions. Maybe make up a pattern with instructions and supply list, etc. rather than manufacture them. That would put it in reach of more women. Just have to figure it all out.
Sheila, I am going to visit that fabric site. Thanks!
-
Tina - I think the dickie insert thing is a good idea. yes, mast bras are pretty pricy - I get two per year with insurance and it's time to get another two! Yippee. ?
Went shoe shopping and bought these two below, thinking of maybe taking back the wedge, not sure. Both very comfy - the wedge I bought in the black, but could only find pic of it in brown.
