Question for anyone with skin and nipple sparing BM
Hi,
I am just over 2 weeks out from a PBM skin and nipple sparring and have questions on expectations. I have lost skin on both nipples and am told this is common and not to worry. I also had an infection in one of the drains which has healed but have questions as to the pain and swelling since the drain was removed. I have no point of reference as to what is the "norm" or not so would appreciate any info from those who have had a similar procedure. I should mention, I had immediate expanders and 300cc and will begin additional fill this coming week
Thanks in advance!!

Wbuggie - I did not have a nipple sparing BM so I cannot help you w/ your questions there. But I do know that some of the ladies w/ them say that things improved over time. Are you still on antibiotics for the infection? Is it getting better yet? I found that three weeks post surgery was the magic date for me, at that point I really started to feel like myself in many ways again. Best wishes! It does get easier. - Jean
BTW: You may find more ladies w/ the same procedure if you post under Breast Reconstruction. Just a thought. Gentle hugs (())

Thanks so much for your reply. I have finished my antibiotics and am now seeing some improvement. I will try posting there as well.
Thanks. I can't wait to have this behind me but know I need to be patient!!
Hugs to you as well

wbuggie- I had a nipple sparing on Nov 19 and I am 12 days post exchange with my implants. I had my expanders filled to 350 at the time of surgery and then had one 50 cc fill (they were only 300cc expanders. I had 600cc Allergan high profile implants placed and I am doing well. I know there are people on here that have had complications with the nipple sparing. That is common and originally my PS didn't think it would be successful and tried to talk me out of it. As long as you have some of your nipple left those surgeons can work miracles. Hang in there all of your problems can be fixed. Reconstruction is such a long process and I din't know you but I am not all that patient. I will be glad to answer any questions you have if I can. ( I could have sworn I answered this post already oh well I guess I didn't save it.)

Wbuggie - I'm glad the antibiotics seemed to help. I also had a skin and nipple sparing BMX on November 18. I was concerned that my nipples weren't going to make it especially on one side, but they did. They had scabbing which was black, but the scabs fell off over time. I did go back to the PS just to have them look and they reassured me that seeing pink was a good sign and to be patient. My one nipple is perfect and looks like nothing was ever touched. The other nipple is cinched in a little so it looks smaller. The PS told me that it can be fixed to look symetrical. I know at 2 weeks they weren't looking as good as they do now. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you
