Sounds great, Lisa. Somebody should have started this initiative ages ago. The NIH's Womens Health Initiative was a joke of misrepresentation. Hopefully, this group will show how flawed it was.

Actually, it's a Wall Street Journal article. I don't think the Times would have printed it. I know a bit about hormones because I'm a medical editor, and this article is misleading. Also, as you can tell by their signatures (their titles and affiliations), the authors obviously have a financial stake in getting women to take bioidentical hormones. Don't be fooled by what they and Suzanne Somers and other people say: Even bioidentical hormones carry risk. And, because most bioidentical hormones prescribed in the US are compounded in a pharmacy rather than manufactured en masse, women using them don't get any of the usual warnings. I would say to stay away from hormones in general, especially if you have had BC, and especially if it was hormone-positive.

Thanks Lisasayers for bringing our attention to the article,  Wall Street or New York times doesn't matter always take anything written in either with a grain of salt.. There is a great deal of information on this site (under other posts) about bio-idential hormones and although many feel hormones in general are "wrong" there is a great deal of promise in the area of bio-idential hormones and their research is being done by reputable docs.  If you guys are really interested in a conversation on hormones there is a topic on this site (I'll try to bump it up) that barry started a few weeks ago.. Don't rule bio-identical out just yet ladies.. But while they are sorting it out be very careful with any form of estrogens if you are er/pr positive..  Best
