Hi there Sierra.
I have a mother who has been afflicted for about 9-10 years. She is in a private nursing home.
My Aunt (mothers sister) has just had to give up her home, she has been going dotty for the last 3 years, and went into private care a month ago.
My MIL drives DH and I nutty, she still manages to keep her home, she's 91, but is forever turning central heating on and off, and can't hold a conversation, just repeats herself all the time.We are her main caregivers at the moment.
My beloved Grandmother died at 89, after 10 years of this awful disease. She came to live with me, I had 2 small kids at the time, for the last 2 years of her life. I just couldn't bear to have her in the place the state provided, but, not having property to sell to pay for private care she had to take what was going....unfortunatly it broke my heart to see her there, so we took her on. It was T-O-U-G-H, one of the hardest things I have ever done, but nowhere near compared with the help she'd given me when I was a kid.....I would do it again for her, but ONLY her !
I am surrounded by dotty females in my near relatives, so not a lot of hope for me then !!
PM me if I can help with anything. This thing is becoming an epidemic, goodness knows what we're all coming to being an aging population, dotty old folks, and drug raddled young ones, doesn't bear thinking about.
Hugs.
Isabella.

Yes...
My aunt had it. She also had BC too.
She died at 78..not from BC ..but the Alzheimers. I remember when it started I was about 14, she passed when I was 17.

My mother was dx when she was only 69y/o, she passed away 3 years ago at age 81. I know more about Alzheimer's than I ever wanted to know. It steals your life slowly and your loved ones hearts.

Alzheimer's is a scary thing....
My aunt seemed to go "down hill" fast. She didn't even recognize myself or my brother, and we were her pride and joy! She would babysit us, take us swimming in the summer. It was hard for me when she would ask my father.."who's she?"
I don't know much about the disease myself, but being only 14 it was hard and confusing.

to see the residents, as they had Pub nite

dancing with aides/help from the Home etc. some of them
obviously did not know fully what was going on, I guess
you could just hug them all

Hey
hi there.. how are you these days.. way over the sea?
Golly, I sure do miss the Brits over here
never see any.. I had to move to affordable hsg here in Toronto due to finances
and it is .. mainly Chinese, Iraq, Iran, Russian.. is it like that over there too?
I tell you.. cant do much about it.. I mean I dont mind a few but
I am a minority
anyhoo. re the Dementia.. it is really something
I have a step dad in the N Home, Mom who is 89 who yells at me,
and argues.. and it is v. difficult.. 3 siblings in US.. do not write or phone
much..you see my Mom remarried.. so 2 are from a previous marriage.. what a crew
and my own sis.. I am estranged from.. 5 yrs my junior, married x 2 and trouble
with her own son..he is the grandson, and never sends a card to Grandpa.. I dont
believe kids these days.. well they are not kids are they..
sorry re your Mom.. did you get on with her prior to this
I live besdie a N Home now, but not the one my mom is in.. I tell you
it was awful to see Wally there yesterday.. full of pills and just laying there
he is 89..
I need to talk to someone, and not one member in my family wants to bother
guess u get the pictue how folks disappear when others might be ill
other than this.. I am well, grateful for what has been given to me

)
Hugs, Sierra
