I can't thank all of you triple neg's so much for your wit, your clarity, your scars and war stories, but most importantly for letting me realize that there are still many of you here to write your posts and for that I thank the God above.  A month ago I was diagnosed thru yearly mammo/ call back, US, Core needle, with a 1.5 centimeter IDC - agressive - grade 1 growth deep in my breast (but not to chest wall).  I was devastated as you can each remember feeling, I'm sure.  I cried, I wailed, I was in a panic like state, needed ativan for the first time in my life and just felt as if my hold world stopped short and I kept on going.  MRI on March 9th showed only the orig cancer found, nothing else.  Lumpectomy set for March 25, 2009 and had to go to BS office today to sign consents.

Apparently my ER/PR 2her results finally came in and once again, the old kick in the gut - they were all triple neg.  I just about died.  All the panic, fear, etc. is now back in full force, even despite my BS trying to calm me with it's "just another bump in the road" and you will still live to see your grandchildren grow up (I am a "young" just turned 62).  I have spend another horrid day and this night will be unending, but you all have given me hope.  I just wanted to thank you all on the triple neg thread and let you all know I wish each and every one of nothing but continued success on this journey to hell we all got a free pass to.

Hugs,

Linda

I thought they couldn't test your status until they had the tumour in their hands? I've heard quite a number of ladies who's status changed from lumpectomy to mastectomy! I would hold out hope that when it is retested after the lumpectomy that the status can be confirmed. You are in my prayers....

Linda ~  I'm with Barbe on this one.  I don't want to give you false or unrealistic hope, but I'm not sure they always have enough tissue from a biopsy to be sure of Her2 status, and many surgeons insist on sending out for a FISH test from the surgical specimen.  The test they sometimes do initially (not the FISH), is known to not always be accurate, especially if you were borderline negative.  I know this must be extremely upsetting to you, but I would suggest calling your surgeon and asking what your Her2 reading is and if it was determined by FISH.  And let us know.  We're all here for you!   (((Hugs)))   Deanna

My TN status was determined by FISH based on my core biopsy...

You need have Her2+++ to be positive for Her2. You sound like you have Her+and 1/2. I'm Her2++ and still considered to be TN.
