    I went to church this morning without my wig! That was a big step for me and I was rather nervous. Of course, everyone at church was very sweet and told me how great I looked. Not sure whether I believe them or not! I am not used to having short hair, especially 1 inch long. I feel very odd, but I am so sick of wigs and scarves and hiding. I had quite long hair before I shaved it last June. It has been a long time. Now I go everywhere else this way. Goodbye wig!!

    I felt the same way. I have rarely not had bangs. I definitely don't have them now. I just got tired of wearing the wigs. I had 3 different ones. I don't think I look all that great, but I don't think I necessarily look too bad either. Besides, I have been waiting for a full head of hair. Why not show it off!!

    Im there too, diagnosed right after you  - started going without a wig a few weeks ago.  I dont love it but I am not freakish looking either.  I will be grateful for a little more length so I can possibly forget about cancer for awhile but I dont think that people look at me and see cancer - it is just that my hair has always been so long!  I probably will keep it shorter (not quite this short) because I do look better than I did with longer hair that was always so hard to manage.  A nice short sassy style that I can get trimmed and maintained every six weeks - some highlights ....

    That sounds good to me too, something short and very stylish. Something with awesome highlights!! I can't wait until it is actually long enough to get a style!

    WOW! Your diagnosis, other than the HER2, is almost exactly like mine, and within weeks. Can I add you as a "buddy"?

    Getting a a cute hair style will be fun!  I kind of look freaky yet with my hair, another 2 months and I should be able to spike it maybe.

     Cathie...they tell me it is rare to be Her2+ and ILC....

    I know exactly how you feel, I was so scared for people to see me in the office with no hair, and I was always hiding, until one day, I was standing outside and I saw a lady walk by that I know and she does not have cancer and had almost shave her head, was wearing long beautiful earrings and makeup and looked great, and I said to myself, what is wrong with me?, and I took off the scarf and never wore it again.  Until this day, I just let nature take its place with my hair.

    Hi Cathie:

    I wish I was as brave. I started to go to church this morning without my wig and I ended up wearing it. My hair is extreamly short and is coming back in grey (I was reddish brown before my chemo).

    HensonChi, maybe I picked the wrong type? IDS is ductal right? That is not mine. They said it was invasive. I guess I just picked one.

    My hair is about an inch long now with lots of grays. I get looks on occasion, but I don't care. It is so great to not have to worry about that darn wig anymore! Go for it!!

    I bought a wig, thinking I would wear it from morning to night.... no one ever told me that a wig would make me sweat like crazy. I did chemo from may-aug so by june my hair was out. i wore that wig to one outdoor function and that was that. From then on I walked around eihter bald or with my bandana. I got to the point where I didn't care. I had cancer, who gives a damn. If I had hair on my head they would have stared because I didn't have eyelashes or eyebrows..... no one tells you you'll lose it ALL during chemo! Anyways the one advnatage was people couldn't move there carts out of the way fast enough for me at the grocery store. You want to feel bad for me, fine I'm not going to stop you, but I'm certainly not sitting home and feeling bad for myself!
